One of a Kind Radical Lowrider - 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria LX Country Squire Station Wagon
Andy has a long history with building radical cars, but this 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria LX Country Squire Station Wagon was one of the most ambitious of his projects.
The plan was always to have it sitting on the floor but to achieve it almost every inch of the car had to be modified.
Over 14 years this car has gone through many heartaches with Andy so now it has become part of family.

@@andyfanshaweI collect diecast everything when it comes to vehicles. if you want the car made into a custom Hot Wheels it can be done. It won’t be licensed by Mattel but it will be made even better being it’s gonna be 1 of 1 so only one needs to be made and that gives time to detail it and it’s all done by hand. If that’s something you’re interested in I can send you a few names to contact and they won’t have a problem doing that and expect it to be $100+ which is not a lot for something nobody else will have and that goes for both the 1:1 scale and 1:64 scale which is the size of a Hot Wheels car. You can get a bigger scale if you like but it will cost more. You would have to contact them and tell them exactly what you want and don’t be afraid to speak because the more they know the better it will come out. I don’t know these guys that do the customs personally but I’ve seen them and their work at Hot Wheels conventions and they are 2nd to none. Just let me know and I’ll get the info to you. Great car and wagons are starting to make a come back. But I will tell you why some comments say the wagon isn’t a Lowrider and that’s because a true Lowrider uses hydraulics not cut coils or airbags but in you’re country it passes as one but in the Low Rider world it’s just a custom car. Add hydraulics and you will be on another level and considered a Lowrider no matter the country.

@@dalekiernan9699 don't!...lol! I remember when I was at school, a couple of teachers who pointed me in the right direction. None built custom cars though(!), but changed the way I thought and had a major influence. Then my turn came around and I was so lucky to be able to work with students like yourself. People who gave their best and were an absolute pleasure to teach. Broke my heart when I had to pack up teaching, but have such amazing memories of talking to yourself and others. Working in the classroom but having as much fun as we could. Oh, and talking about cars! Sometimes maths! Stay in touch please. Hope to meet you at a show sometime next year. Thank you again.

I am blown away with the amount of work you have put into a car that most would never give a second look. For myself, i have owned 2 of these cars while in high school and just after. first one was a 1990 and second was a 1988. my dad and i both had one each at the same time and they were the same colour. It was great when ever we went out anywhere as all the cops would always give us a waive. Your story of the build is an amazing one and you have put so much heart into it and it really does show. This video has made me want to pick up another one. Thank you for sharing your story with the world 😊

You know what I like best about this ? It’s you. Me being a Ford guy and a mechanic I’m a just a car guy. I could have walked past you in a store and never in a million years knew you could have built such an amazing car. Your talent is off the charts. You are a walking sleeper. A sleeper is a car that looks bland and slow but will smoke anything it comes in contact with. It’s an odd compliment but it’s the highest I have. Loved the story as well.
@andyfanshawe

I'm the sleeper guy! Lol. Thank you so much for the massive compliment. Blown away by your words. I must have a bit (lot) of OCD that manifests itself into the things I build! I was putting together other show cars whilst this was being constructed. Probably didn't come across in the video. 91 Camaro, 57 Chevy, 97 Lincoln mark 8, 79 z28. God knows where I got the time from! If it wasn't for my long suffering Wife and my lovely 2 sons, none of this would have happened. So much support behind the scenes. Pretty sure they put up with my mini tantrums when things went wrong...and they did! Many times. Anyway, thank you again for the ultimate compliment 🙏

Thank you! I am the builder of the wagon. Loved your comment. Makes all the pain worthwhile! My Wife says she suffered as well with all the moaning and groaning and literally, blood, during the build! If it wasn't for her and my cancer diagnosis (not life threatening) it would never have been completed. It got so technical and spiralled out of control due to the mods required. Took literally 4 weeks to relocate the wiper motor to get it to work again! Anyway, your comment is inspiring. Whether my Wife, Carol, will let me build another one, I don't know! Could I do it again....HELL NO! lol.

Building a 1990 Ford low rider from scratch in the UK is no small feat, and seeing someone pour their heart, tears, and sweat into a project like this is truly inspiring. My eldest son Callum was with me when I bought it in 2009. He was 11. I finished when he was 25! Now he's got his own '79 z28 which I am helping him build. Father son project and inspiring the next generation.....thank you again for your words.

@@andyfanshawe I’m planning to finish my Camaro before the summer and start hitting some of the car shows and other places. But very high on my list is meeting you and your son as soon as the car is ready as your build was my inspiration. Mine is also back to life in a single car standard uk garage so I can relate to what you’ve been through. But it’s called a passion and the sense of accomplishment is definitely worth it once they’re done. As soon as my 86 maro is done I’ve got waiting in the garden 69 Camaro to do up and also planning an upgrade on my 04 dodge ram so I’ve got a handful 😅

Thank you for your comment. Yep, you are right about the car guy stuff. "Just to go from A to B" my wife says!! So much happened during the wagons build. Tragedies, injuries, etc that it turned into a battle to even work on it for months at a time. When Marta from hand built cars was filming my interview she was superb. The questions she asked are edited so it looks seamless. The final question was "what does the car mean to you?". And I'm afraid, that was the end of any manliness...lol! The memories of people lost during the build was too much for me. Hence the emotion! Anyway, my youngest lad (21) is taking over my restomod 91 Camaro and I'm building my eldest lads 79 Z28 with his help. Good luck with your 51 Plymouth with your son. Enjoy every minute. Thank you again.

Fun fact #2 about the build......for those that know about these cars the bottoms of the rear quarters behind the rear wheels are almost vertical to house the spare tyre (sorry, tire!). I reshaped both sides by bending the bottom of the panel further underneath to match the profile of the doors and fenders! Involved a lot of slicing the inner wheel arches and the rear panel. Have a look at the car to see for yourself! Hope any of this makes sense...😊

Andy, you have done an amazing job with this. These were common as muck here in Canada and you are correct, nobody liked them then. But I never saw one as good as this. It must be bonkers to see this coming at you down an English country road! And the Christmas card story, wow! Cheers mate!

Seeing one of these in England was probably the last thing I expected. My parents bought one new, a 1979 LTD-S wagon, first year of this body style. I learned to drive in that car, it had the 351W engine and was pretty powerful. One of my favorite cars growing up. I would love to build a 1962 Consul Capri, really cool looking little hardtop that looks like a mini 1960 Starliner. I've only seen one here in the US. Maybe it can be a part of the Transatlantic Ford exchange program.

If you go to my website (link in description), click on the wagon, scroll to the bottom, there is a PDF doc of the diary of the build. Well, part 1. Part 2 coming shortly. All the gruesome details!
