I switched from ableton to bitwig a month ago and it boosted my creativity by a great margin. I achieve the sound i want way faster because of some great design choices. A crashing plugin in ableton is a creativity killer, in bitwig its no problem :)

That's true, Bitwig hasn't crashed on me, escept one time but was becayse of an iLok plugin. And the workflow is really efficent

modulators and fx containers inside devices are two of the best features of Bitwig, imo. Putting another Reverb in the Reverb "tank" or a Chorus+ or even a resonator bank, etc, then modulating the reverb itself... it's the LEGO of DAWs :D

Gotta make a video about those wet, tank and so on containers, they are great

Great vid, amigo! I would add that another great practical aspect of BW's modulators is to revive old VSTs - those still in use but that have objectively crappy modulation systems (FM8 and Sylenth are 2 that come to mind). Just override all those old limited internal systems with BWs = a great way of breathing some life into vintage VSTs Also: It's a great shortcut to diving into vintage-modeled synths that come with a learning curve. I mean: how many of us have really taken the time to learn all of Arturia's vintage emulations? My MO now is: Just show me where the barebones oscillators, filters and Envelopes are and after that I'll go to work with BWs modulators. Hotwiring a crazy complex Modular Moog with some of BW's more extreme modulators, ie, is a sure way of doing some unique vintage-meets-modern sound design:)

I agree, that makes it an amazing DAW, not beign limited by a plugin's limitations

I still remember the day, about 2 years ago, when I tried to find an LFO in FL Studio. As with anything in FL, it wasn't where I expected it could be, so I turned to youtube and learned that the LFO lives among audio effects and is actually called "Fruity Peak Controller". And why not? It is, after all, a peak controller that doubles as a rather quirky LFO. I won't describe it in detail, don't want to horrify people, but mostly I couldn't get over how they named it, how impractical it was, and how they apparently didn't care. I remember it because on that day I finally decided I had enough and bought Bitwig - for the modulators. Soon I discovered the three grids in it and that made Bitwig my favorite piece of software of all time (which in my case means since mid-90s, when I got my first PC AT computer). Never looked back, and my creativity opened up like I didn't think was possible. And now when I am looking for something, it is where I expect it to be, and usually has a recognizable name, too! (Well, except maybe the Tree Monster :--))

Happened something similar but in less time and many DAWs in between. I switched from FL because it was not intuitive for me, but Bitwig gave me an efficent workflow.

Thank you! this is really helpful. cant you please show how to create a multiband dynamics with side chain like in Ableton?
@AlexReidStudios
@AlexReidStudios 11 ай бұрын
I could make a short video, but basically you have the multiband 3 device, and the dynamics have sidechain inputs. there's a multiband dynamics too

Ableton is starting to get flanked. 13 better be something awesome... not just a couple new devices and some bug fixes.

Can you modulate left and right separately without the stereo split container?

1:50 frustratingly, not every parameter of every 3rd party plugin can be mapped and modulated :o(

There are some, true. Not sure why but it depends on how the plugin is programmed

@@AlexReidStudios and for me those are often the ones that I would like to have mapped to a controller the most for live sets playing... often its those that for example regenerate some random data, for some reason - I noticed this repeatedly, its those "out of the box" that dont fall into the category of classic 128 CC functions / generic traditional hardware controls.. i.e. XO and switching between new sets of random samples or beat patterns.. :( id fukin love that mapped for live play, tried many workarounds, gave up

@@ancientbohemianthat’s more a plug-in developer problem than it is a bitwig one. Bitwig has its architecture set in a very open way. 3rd party Plug-ins often don’t.
