Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point. Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy. Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song? Odd Eye is part 3 of the Dystopia trilogy. People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher want us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "lies masked in sweetness". I can only recommend to keep reacting to them, they are always interesting and entertaining! And the song is a banger!

Yeah, Handong was absent for about a year, missing the albums for "Scream" and "Boca," because she went home to China to participate in a girl group elimination show. But the pandemic hit soon after and although her time at the show was done she was unable to travel because of restrictions. She finally was able to return in October 2020, which allowed her to participate in the comeback for "Odd Eye." The dancer in the mask in "Scream" was meant to represent and stand-in for her, I guess because at the time they thought there might still be a chance she could return.

Welcome to the Dreamcatcher hype train, there are no stops, and it only gets better the deeper you go. You're already doing really good with recognizing the members, btw. Since you're loving everything so far, you should definitely dig into their albums, but I'd recommend finishing out the rest of their title tracks first. When you get around to doing the albums there are special clips and performances for a large portion of the b-sides. The Ultimate 2021/2022 Dreamcatcher guide by Dreamworld. This is the most comprehensive guide I've come across and while it's a little older now, it's still very good. It has a section on history for the group, a small snippet of each of their title tracks (minus the Apocalypse trilogy tracks), and a section for each of the members. The This is ______ Series by Insomnicsy. Insomnicsy is the main Dreamcatcher fan content channel on KZbin. She puts out compilation videos all the time and her edits are great & hilarious. This series is strictly about member personalities and there are 3 seasons, 2020, 2021, & 2022 and each season has one 7-minute video for each member. Enjoy the journey!

When Vision was released, I noticed an interesting similarity between the Dystopia trilogy and the Apocalypse trilogy. In the first part, they play the victim (please I don't want to scream / please someone fight for us); in the second chapter, they are the protector, they say "you know what, WE will fight". In BOCA, they're taking the fight to the haters; and in VISION... I don't have to explain how VISION is a "let's fight"-song. But then in the third chapter of the Dystopia trilogy, they say "actually it's hopeless, we can never win against all the hate, we thought the internet was beautiful but there _is_ no utopia". Which made me curious how the Apocalypse trilogy would end, and actually BONVOYAGE also kinda says that we're probably going to lose the fight for the environment, but at least the Earth will survive us, even if we don't survive. So still a sad ending, but also sort of hopeful at the same time, which ODD EYE definitely wasn't. Anyway at least that's my interpretation 😊 About the Dystopia trilogy specifically, it's also cool how in Scream, they had a more medieval/fantasy setting meant to evoke literal witch hunts, but the chorus was very much EDM (relatively a very modern/futuristic genre); then BOCA was set in a more modern/contemporary/present era (subway station?); and ODD EYE has more of a futuristic scifi setting, but the chorus is very rock-heavy. Now obviously rock music didn't exist in medieval times, but rock+fantasy is definitely a more common combo, and in general rock is an older genre than EDM. So I think it's so cool how Scream was set in the past and had the EDM, while ODD EYE was set in the future but had more of a rock chorus. (Obviously Scream also had electric guitars and ODD EYE also had electronic elements, and maybe I'm reaching lol, but I still thought it was interesting) Also love that you clocked the connection of BOCA being a Spanish word and the Latin influences in the song. So clever. Speaking of, MAISON, VISION and BONVOYAGE are all French (well "vision" is also an English word of course, but it's the same word in French). I'm not sure why; though "maison" is an anagram of "somnia" (Latin for "dream") which is also what Dreamcatcher usually call InSomnia for short. I have one small gripe with the BOCA captions - despite the fact that some of the translations are a bit clunky, they're actually much better than some others I've seen; but what bothers me is that at 13:07, it says JiU sings "Don't open.." (열지 못하게) but I'm 99.99% sure that's Dami's voice 😅(though it's kind of an understandable mistake because people aren't used to Dami singing high in title tracks) And yessss Gahyeon! I love whenever she raps. My main bias is Yoohyeon, but then Handong, Gahyeon and JiU are just my collective secondary bias, taking turns wrecking me 😭

And yes all their albums are a must, I'm sure you'll find awesome b-sides in each one of them. Up to you where to go next: Dystopia albums, or you could react to 'BEcause' which is a stand-alone title track released between the Dystopia and the Apocalypse trilogies, or you could go back to the beginning and start the Nightmare series. you have to watch the dance practice and performance of all the songs. they are as good as the song itself. also, the ending pose of Odd eye is the starting pose of scream, only difference is you are looking at different sides. you can also translate that as, they went to a journey when people forgot to say good things thus ruining the tree of language (scream), they fought for those who are being bullied (BOCA) and when they thought they can now find a better world where hate cannot reach, they realized that there was no utopia (odd eye). they ended up where they first came. that the world in itself is just the same place but from different view point and that its better to find utopia inside you. its a sad trilogy. I can totally understand why you got teary eyed, this is a sad but very meaningful story. DC's songs are always a story whether its a solo release or a trilogy or an arc. :)

You HAVE to go to the concert. You already like a few songs and their whole vibe and their concerts are said to be absolutely fantastic. Also if it's near you, use that! Not to pressure but some countries wait for 6 years now for them to come back😂 Now since they just announced an English album they might continue to tour the US but they've been there 3 times (with the September tour) the last 2 years and Insomnia in other countries are getting louder. So this might be the last concerts there at least for this year. I saw them at a kpop festival which wasn't quite the same but I didn't regret it at all. It's just fun and they're great at concerts.

Handong Dami and Siyeon have been my favorite members since 2018 so when Handong came back for Odd Eye I actually cried lol. Good news is Handong has vocal and choreo parts in all their dystopia ttol and lose myself. So almost every song has 2 versions, I prefer the live performances cause they have Handong. Gahyeon pops off in BEcause by the way. That's literally her inspired by Adelaid in Us. Personal faves would go- Odd eye -> Scream -> boca. Gahyeon, Siyeon and Dami went viral semi regularly in the dystopia era. Siyeon and Dami tend to go viral anyway but Gahyeon was gathering fans by the hundreds during boca.

If you wanna know more about the girls i recommend "An extensive Dreamcatcher Guide 2023" by dreamer it's really a complete one! And you catch "boca" meaning mouth omg!! It's spanish and portuguese. I love this trilogy, I think the message are so powerful especially because I felt so hard with Jonghyun from SHINee and their message is so good! The odd eye, even tho it seems that ended in a bad ending, they said that you need to find the utopia inside yourself so the hate you get won't affect you. Also insomnicsy made a special 6th anniversary video for them called "Road to Fame". This channel is a must insomnia channel, it has so much content and even the girls reacted to "this is __" series. Once you get to know dreamcatcher there's no way you'll not fall in love with them! Also, if you live in US they're going to do a tour in september in Canada and US. And i myself don't know who to choose as a bias, i just love all of them so much and their personalities are all so easy to love. And it seems it's hard for insomnia to choose a bias as well if you see the % on kpop profile for bias each of them has 14% lol
