I love that "you get your mums washing brush, and she hasn't noticed yet." Cammy, she'll notice next time you're over for dinner and she starts opening every drawer. If you laugh, you'll be found out.

Totally awesome video Cammy. So informative. If I had life to live over it would be on a farm with cows and sheep. I know it’s a lot of work, but since watching what you do I have fallen in love with sheep and the wee lambs. Thank you Cammy. Oh before I forget...if there is ever a time you have a spare moment could you show us your family shield. Do you have a kilt? When if ever is it proper to wear a kilt. Can you play the bag pipe? Can you dance like the men do with the tap shoes. I want to know and see so much of my heritage. I’ll be 70 in October. I don’t know if I will ever get to see Scotland. I am so thrilled with what you share with us. My best to Lizzy and the boys.

Cammy, the bolus use is new to me. When I need to bolus it’s mostly for medication. The sheep breeders I know and sorta don’t know don’t use them around here. Our sheep get supplemented mineral via free choice salt/mineral mixtures, blocks and tubs. Mineral is also added to many formulated grain rations. One day when I get the time I’ll have to figure if bolus would lower operation cost vs tubs and salt use. I’m not even sure we can get those kinds of bolus in the states, never looked in to it. What is the cordless shear you use?
@TheSheepGame

Another interesting comment DC! I suppose everywhere is different. Some places will never have fluke for example but we have heaps of it here. The cordless shears are Razor it's a chinese brand but works well. U get the amazon i think if you are US based.

Great use of word ‘circa’ 😎 so professional. Boluses, and trace elements in general, aren’t regulated in the same way as medicines so are a bit of a dark art. Some products are definitely better than others! In any case, testing before treating is definitely a good idea, esp for copper.

Two videos a week 👍👍. We always dag the sheep keeps them nice and clean for winter. We use boluses from mayo healthcare and find the sheep do well with them. They are smaller to administer and last for a year which is good. They cover cobalt selenium and iodine. We have mostly texel cross ewes so would be wary giving boluses with copper in them. They also do 5 in 1 boluses two. You have super quality sheep.😁 😁😁. How much per head does the wintering cost??

Does you local area not have each sheep farmer use specific colours/markings for there flock? I know here in the Western Isles they used to do that because at times there might be four or five flocks all out on the common grazings, and when putting them to the ram/tup there might be a couple thousand sheep in an area

Is the Bolus instead of a mineral drench? I’ve never done either, I provide the mineral buckets year round, changing depending on seasons, but they don’t contain copper. Am definitely interested in hearing about the blood test and results thereof! Maybe should do mine and see what I get!!
@TheSheepGame
@TheSheepGame 4 жыл бұрын
Bolus would be in lieu of a mineral drench yes. I think it’s more effective and a steadier release plus it lasts 6 months. Mineral buckets are expensive and the sheep will sometimes eat then even when they don’t need them. Definitely worth blood testing because it will tell u a lot about your ground and it’s not expensive. (Not sure how much mine was yet). I have a vlog coming next Wednesday about my blood test. 😁

Yeah Chris it’s all f**ked. Full lockdown in England and Wales from tomorrow and Scotland won’t be far behind. Not effected farming much yet. Brexit on 1st January is still very uncertain for farming.

Treat yourself to a Rappa Race clamp. Won’t regret it. Much easier on the sheep too. Also the Bolus stays in the Rumen - which is not really a stomach. Educate the masses. !
