That smile from Jock just brightened the day. It is amazing, the things one does naturally when moving sheep and in evaluating the health of the flock when you've spent decades in the fields with sheep. Same goes for any livestock and dogs as well. You just get a feel for the animals you are working with. Have to say had a tense moment when you were closing the pen with Lizzie and the ewes were eyeing up an escape route, right into Jock! Yikes. You're blessed to have sucah a wonderful family Cammy. An old farm kid here (64 Y/O). One of my first memories is my dad and great-granddad docking lambs tails. We no longer have sheep (or any livestock), but my brother, sister and I farm row crops on our farm in NW Missouri. It's been in our family for 183 years. You're building a great foundation for your son to grow on!

I know first hand about how a child working side by side with a parent, results in a huge amount of incredible learned experience. My husband is a computer engineer, and he and my son have hand build computers,gaming systems, and several drones together over the years. Said offspring is in his final year at university, majoring in computer engineering - literally learned at his father’s knee starting around age six or seven!

Hey Cammy, we had issues with fencing with our sheep and we learned about lay hedging, basically you bind the branches of the hedge together and forms a impassable hedge, we have totally eliminated all fencing in the last 10 years, it also provides a great wind break for the animals.
