Experience this 1969 COPO Camaro with us as we dive into what makes this example one of the rarest COPO's we've come across. Check out our last video with Stefan here:
• The Most Fun Super Car...
This Tuxedo Black, Concours Award winning COPO Camaro came with Factory Black interior with the signature Red Pinstripe. Stefan walks us through the history of the L72 427ci engine that packs over 425hp. It features the M-22 Rock Crusher Transmission which he explains is his favourite transmission. With a factory 4.56 Rear Gear Ratio, this COPO is the pinnacle of Concours Quality Restoration as seen by the immaculate undercarriage. The owner was meticulous in getting the correct paint daubs and chalk marks leaving no stone unturned.
This 1969 COPO Camaro was sold new at Maxton Chevrolet in Columbus, Ohio to its original owner Joseph Patrick. Mr. Patrick factory ordered his new COPO in the highly desirable code 10 Tuxedo Black paint with a red pinstripe and black interior which make this COPO an extremely rare and highly collectible example. Open the hood and you will find the L72 427/425hp COPO engine backed by Muncie M22 Rockcrusher 4 speed sending power to the factory 4.56 12-bolt differential. This COPO came optioned with Am radio, door edge guards, power disc brakes, cowl induction hood and Rallye wheels with white stripe biasply tires. It also comes with a second set of painted steel wheels with polyglass tires.
Once completed this COPO was shown at the American Camaro Association in the Legends Certification judging system. It achieved level 3 and received “Top Flight” certification and the car surpassed their highest level of judging. This COPO is truly for the collector who appreciates the highest level of restoration quality.
This car came documented with Camaro Nationals Legends judging sheets, ownership history, affidavit from the original owner, period photographs and more. This COPO Camaro is truly an exceptionally restored example, the highlight of any collection. Rarely do cars come around that have been restored to this level of quality, in this highly sought after color combination with these options. It was a pleasure to get to review this incredible car. This brings back memories. Back in the 70s. In Reynoldsburg Ohio we would gather around the Children's Palace toy store parking lot starting about 10pm. There was a 3 mile straight road on Gender Road, then in farm country. There was a marked 1/4mile marked and we would race. One of the big dogs drove this exact car, color and all....except on the panel behind the window going from rear fender to roof, the car had in blue,KING KONG. He pretty much ruled the street and would only be challenged by a 71 hemi cuda or a guy from my town with a 71GTO Judge with a 455 HO who trailered in the car which was a class record holder at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. fun memories!

Outstanding! Like another man said I’m a Mustang enthusiast too. These factory race cars were the best hidden secrets.

The under carriage is actually way nicer then it was when it was born. That is a great example. The exhaust diameter seems so restrictive in stock form.
@thud9797
@thud9797 3 ай бұрын
Yeah it was, same with Corvette which was only 2 inches in 1969. But they knew the stock exhaust wouldn't last long so it was no big deal, almost nobody kept these cars stock back then.

OK, Peter Klute! Where is Greg? This young man is trying, but he said 11.5 to 1 compression, it was 11 to 1, he also said "dog dish wheels, poverty caps" which makes no sense. Also, is this an original drive train or no? It is OK to say what it is, not many of these survived intact, many were raced and blown up...

It is a full body off frame rotisserie restoration. So This means how it would have came off the production line but a lot more detail time and money now. Hence the Skinnies on it. It has to remain OEM to win the awards and bragging rights for the owner. But that is fine I would be talking it up as well.
