Also worth noting that it is low on DSP consumption. Great idea for an amp and loading up on high consumption effects.

I am in love with the Matchless at the moment! Drive low like 1-2. Your fav overdrive infront to switch on for the heavier stuff. Put a harmonic tremolo in it's own path panned to one side, before the reverb and delay, and it sounds heavenly! Sounds massive. Oh maaaaaan! The edge of break up tones are perfection, and the heavy tones are soooo thick. I love it.

John: these presets you've created sound simply fab on my studio monitors via YT, but wondering if you ever find you need to adjust eq settings (inc. boost jump levels for solos) etc. when using a Helix board live through a PA? And if so, would value heads-up on the regime/approach you adopt to ensure the Helix board is tweaked gig ready for the show in as short as time as possible?
@johnnathancordy
@johnnathancordy 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew! So I've used a preset "MammCombinedPC" which is the actual preset I've been using live with a powercab recently. As a rule, I back the gain off a bit, and generally reduce reverb and delay mixes slightly. Ultimately the sound guy has the last word on what the FOH comes out like, but on stage it sounds great through the powercab on LF RAW mode. I have quite a level boost for solos, I think the best idea is to do like a dry run of the things that you are reasonably expecting you might need to change on the fly?
@andrewsutton7007
@andrewsutton7007 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnnathancordy: thanks John - the 'reduce settings' is a useful reminder! We are a 7-piece, fully mic'd up with IEMs and like many bands, we don't have a dedicated sound guy (that's another of my roles). Currently use a Princeton/SM57 behind me to generate the guitar sound, but next step is to dump the back-line and direct inject to desk, monitoring via IEMs. This is a BIG step as you can imagine so limbering up for a Helix LT purchase as the band comes out of hibernation... I guess it'll be a case of careful pre-gig sound-checking as you say + the occasional dropping of one IEM bud and stepping forwards to verify FoH happiness?
@johnnathancordy
@johnnathancordy 3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewsutton7007 yeh the other thing is if you're using IEMs and you have control of it, I would boost the level of the bass frequencies of your guitar in just your ears. Little slips of your ears are brutal for feel etx
