I remember when Sunil Gavasker was playing I was in college and when Indian cricketer team visited Pakistan he was the most respected cricketer here in Pakistan. Without a doubt he played cricket with decency along with a superior skill and class. He deserves all the respect he gained, what a true LEGEND. A real batsman to be followed by young cricketers.

I remember I was a kid when these two legends used to play in the 70s, 80s,. Once these two legends left playing internationally my interest in cricket also faded. Every time Javed Miandad used to be on crease he was a wall which was difficult for bowlers to crack. Gavaskar, in my view, was the most stylish and technically perfect batsman ever to have played international cricket. It was such a pleasure to watch him play against some of deadliest of bowling attacks in the world and that too without wearing a helmet. That showed the kind of technique and concentration and the confidence the man had in his batting ability. He was at one point in time known as Sunil Manohar Record Gavaskar. The man had almost all the cricketing records in his name. Salute to both these legends. The man deserves Bharat Ratan.

Yes both Javed and Sunil, but Javed later started using helmet after getting struck with a Lillie bouncer. I think Sunil just used something similar to a helmet but not really a typical helmet with a visor in the front. They were courageous batsmen.
