One of the best Vindaloo Curries i have tried.

There’s only one word for this and that is wow, the flavours where magnificent, and the heat well that’s another story, extremely hot and spicy but what I liked about this was though it was extremely hot you still got all the flavours and spices coming through, and in my opinion that’s the sign of a good curry, this is definitely scoring a 10/10 for flavour and a 9/10 for heat, this came from East at Home and are £2.99, there’s a link to a discount code at the bottom.

1st comment I think Andy. We buy a whole lamb here every year and freeze it. Costs about £120 so a lot to spend at once, but much cheaper in the long run. All the best, Tony.

@@fatandy Its from a farm shop. No fancy packaging though, comes in two large boxes and we have to bag it for the freezer. Still tastes great though. 👍

@@fatandy Had a word with the better half regarding exact price to make sure. Sorry, I was wrong. We pay £140 for a lamb and a half. A whole lamb is £95 and a half is £65. Half a pig is £140, but have never bought it as our freezer is too small. Hope this helps. Tony.

Andy - What would make these curries better is freezing fresh coriander for convenience of not having to buy it fresh. Then you make your own onion salad with a tiny bit of tomato and cucumber if you have it. Chuck some of your frozen coriander into the onion salad and mix it in with your naans or shop bought popadoms. It makes my curries at home twice as good :)

Coriander is pennies.......unless you're freezing it in a recipe. Grown own on window sill or buy it. Defrosted herbs almost stay soggy

Corrr that looked good. Fraid it's just supermarket lamb for me, Morrisons often do a good deal. Worth remembering East at Hum deliver for free any orders in the UK over £35.

I pushed the boat out with that lamb, because I hadn’t bought lamb from a butcher for two or three years I wasn’t up with the prices, but that lamb when I look back at it was really nice 👍🏻

Just watched another food reviewer making Cornish pasties and using a small piece of beef skirt , a much less popular cut of meat , bought from a supermarket at £13.99 per kilo. The piece was just under £5 so weighed only about 350g. Shocking.

Amazing looking curry 🍛 Andy I must have a look at it I tend to use the Indi Grand curry sauce but the vindaloo and madras sauce have not been in my local home bargains for ages. And yes the price of all meat nowadays is scandalous especially lamb and beef but even chicken and pork the cheaper meats are sky rocketing I always bulk the curry out with extra onions, tomatoes and potatoes 👍👍🥘🥘

The indi grand range is really good, this east at home is another level, the sauce I used in the vindaloo you don’t need to bulk it out or should i say you don’t need to add anything else like spices etc, the BIR recipe book is well worth the investment 👍🏻

My go to curry recipe book is The Curry Secret by Kris Dhillon I acquired it in the mid 90's in it shows you everything from making the base gravy to recipes for our favourite curries starters and breads PS Kris Dhillon is a lady for years I thought she was a man sorry Kris 👍👍

Well you seemed to enjoy that Andy. I don’t think the cost of the sauce & the lamb is too expensive, it works out at about £7.50 each & as you & other commentators on here have said, “it’s quality”. You get what you pay for. When you think of the cost, no worse than a McDonalds or other rubbish like that. So worth paying for I think…. 👍…

The lamb's probably British Spring lamb and Easter's just around the corner, so that'd account for the price mate. 💯 on the EAH Vindaloo Andy. I made mine with pork fillet and spuds...£7kg for the pork but, hey, for a treat I'd pay that for the lamb.

OMG Andy - I am GOBSMACKED at the inflated price of that lamb stewing steak! Is that butcher seriously charging £24 per KILO for his stewing lamb??? I know the cost of living crisis is putting food prices up, but that's outrageous! (I would certainly expect it to be tender meat, for that price!) Coincidentally, I was just researching the price of Aldi's Easter special this year, their flagship/traditional leg of lamb joint. In 2024, Aldi is charging £6.49 PER KILO for their leg of lamb. They estimate the typical price of that leg of lamb, to be approx £16.23. That is obviously far better value for money than your butcher offers, and of course we would expect that - we know and accept small, private butchers are more pricey, for multiple reasons. But by any measure, your local butcher is damned expensive! Just a couple of additional points Andy - I love to see you cooking sauces and other recipes from scratch, on your marvellous channel. More power to you Sir - we should all attempt to cook more, and not rely on lesser quality ready meals/microwave convenience foods. But I've noticed you often have the heat up far too high on your hob when you're cooking, with the result foods/sauces are crazy hot and bubbling, and in danger of running away from your control, and even burning! Onion - and garlic in particular - burn surprisingly fast. And burnt onion (and especially garlic, which goes horribly bitter), can literally ruin a home-cooked meal. Trust me, turn the ring down to a medium heat, and you'll get far better results - and you'll have more time to achieve them! My other hint, is to wear an apron while cooking. Take a look at legendary French chef Jaques Pepin, who is never without an apron when he's busy at the stove. He even advises us amateur cooks how to wear it, in one of his instructional cooking videos. Andy - you'd look very dashing in an apron like Jacques! Thanks for that, first of all yes it was very expensive, it was nice and tender, the Aldi price for lamb looks very good, I will have a look at that next time I am in, the cooking side of it is that induction hob, I hate it it’s either too high or too low wish I had never got it, had gas before that it was brilliant, got talked into it by the builder telling me how good induction hobs are, in my opinion they are c**p, Thinking of going back to gas cooking but I’m going to have to have the whole kitchen floor ripped up, not going to cost anything for the labour as son in law is a gas fitter, it’s just the hassle, plus he’s really busy at the moment, so that’s something to look at later, as for the apron I’m actually in the process of sorting one out, thanks for the link as well I will have a look.
