Pretty much all of the locations are flat, not much hilly sections, and we don't get views out of tunnels. I wish there was a camera out east of Skykomish, Washington as it enters/leaves the snow tunnel. Any mountain bypass tunnel would be cool. I'm really enjoying the Cocoa, Florida videos, it's fascinating seeing the laying of the tracks and then the trains coming through.

1:38 gets us off to a nice start with a dropped signal on the siding @ Skymorish, WA. 18:55 Will it make any difference to paint the lines in Lagrange, KY? And, the camera in Waycross, GA is getting some great stuff, including the dropped signal @ 21:14. Thank you.
@aaronneumeyer55722 жыл бұрын
I see that VR often catches a dropped signal, but what does that mean? Should the train have immediately stopped? Thanks for any help explaining it to me.
@jerrysinclair37712 жыл бұрын
@@aaronneumeyer5572 'Dropped signal' is an old railroad slang because it looks like the signal fell or dropped. In reality it is called an aspect change. The change from green to red occurs AFTER the engine(s) have passed the signal and occupy the next block. The engineer never sees this because he has passed the signal and he is looking ahead for any possible hazards and of course the next signal one or two miles down the line. By the way, 'dropped signal' is not a universal slang...but is referred to in North American railroads.
@aaronneumeyer55722 жыл бұрын
@@jerrysinclair3771 Thank you! I always wondered if the engineer had done something wrong or unsafe. So basically, the dispatcher or whoever controls the signal just has an itchy finger and flips the switch really quick? I presume that if the situation on the track ahead really did change they'd radio that directly to the driver.
@jerrysinclair37712 жыл бұрын
@@aaronneumeyer5572 You said, " ...Dispatcher or whoever controls the signal just has an itchy finger and flips the switch really quick? " That is not really the case. All of the signals are 'default' to red and the dispatcher may activate the signal to green or in some cases, it is automatic using Automatic Block Signal.
