Late 1990’s were the best years in bodybuilding history
@Realpaul2k6 жыл бұрын
The late 90's were the greatest years for practically everything. Music, TV shows, bodybuilding, we had internet but it didn't take over people lives like social media does now. And people walking down the street actually looked where they were going, instead of the smartphone zombies of today.

Maybe in the US, but I am not particularly impressed by the (late) 90's here in Europe, and we get at least some idea of what is happening in the US. They were maybe better than I remember them to be, and yes, I would still take them over most of what we get today.

Sinking Lure: Name just one body-part that Sonbaty, Sarcev, Jackson, Levrone or Wheller would have beaten Phil heath on with their conditioning in the 90-s compared to his in 2017?
@FlyLikeAirplaneKnows6 жыл бұрын
EncycloBBUILDING exactly. Phil might be less aesthetic with the mass he carries, but he’s perfectly complete in pretty much every pose, and many people seem to forget that. Open class isn’t about beautiful flowing bodies anymore, it’s about being complete and in shape when displaying the mandatories and quarter turns on stage! These 90s freaks look amazing, very wide and aesthetic, and I’d rather look like any of those top 6 guys, but they’re not all as ‘perfect’ and complete as Phil when posing.
@sinking19026 жыл бұрын
Easy. They all beat his 2017 shape in thighs and abs, side chest. Levrone crushes him in side chest. I'm not hating. Phil 2016 was stupendous, 2017 not so much.

Even Rhoden fooked up in 2017. He could look like a bigger flex if he trimmed down and brought the conditioning.

It was this show that got me into bbuilding! Truly the best lineup in history, I will never forget how massive and conditioned all of them looked every single one of them would’ve won Olympia today easily. EASILY!!! Levrone’s rage against the machine posing routine is unmatched. Coleman was in his prime, killin’ it. Dexter was on another level, his all time best imo. Top 6 legends of bodybuilding, just fantastic

Thats the show when flex screwed up the synthol in his calves. I think he was penalized for obvious abnormal lumps in the calves. He also had synthol in rear delts, but that part didnt look weird, just slightly unnatural.

Dexter really is something special... all these 90s legends clashing on stage and right in the middle is a guy who is still fighting it out at the highest level today. One of the greatest of all time for that alone. Also kevin's crab most muscular makes him looke like a beautiful dinosaur. I don't even mean small arms, it's the shape of his head and neck that does it for me.

Hedge's Father was in his peak condition in '99 also. In fact, he was so awesomely intimidating that these girly men we see here onstage trained non-stop from Olympia to the Grand Prix out of mortal fear, obligation, shame and guilt and still got so ashamed of their "peak" conditions compared with Hedge's Dad that the promoters banned Hedge's Dad from competition after switching judges like they did to Sergio. Hedge's Dad decided to go Mike Mentzer and retire, shoot massive loads into lady Hedge Moms and, today, Nick has and owns the Immaculate, Quasi-Immortal Hedge we see today in whose world we struggle to survive and exist!
