As a kid growing up in Queens NY, I remember that the Whispers did a show not too far from where I live, and for a long time, all the young ladies in the neighborhood who attended the show would talk about, was not only the Whispers harmonizing, but also their dancing skills.

They're from Los Angeles California. They've been since the 1960s. They've had solid careers. Solar Records was the record company that put them to a higher plateau. They are one of my favorite male R&B singing groups.

Being that I am a native of the Bay Area, I've always felt a sense of pride in regard to The Whispers legacy and success. My uncles, who were into The Whispers, played their music throughout my entire childhood. My favorite song by The Whispers is "Rock Steady". I also love "Lost and Turned Out", "Beat Goes On, and "In the Raw"!

I spent my summers in Oakland. KDIA (Oakland)kept the Whisper's music in heavy rotation. Then, when FM radio came, KSOL (San Mateo) kept the Whispers' party going!

The Whispers! I used to laugh so hard when they would come to our city for concerts and former DJ Tom Joyner aka Fly Jock would announce a dye shortage. Why?
