I had to chuckle after reading the title and then seeing the single locomotive first, and then the next two trains as light as they were . But when you changed locations and I could hear the UP-lead heavy working the grade I knew this was it. Most everything between the lead power and the DPU were loaded, and everything after were empties, according to spring compression .. and that train had an interesting mix of graffiti, though not too cluttered like usual. Long or short, I love to watch trains. The single loco, 8112, in the opening of the vid was also the lead power bring the last train down the hill. I've got a really good PC monitor and I like being able to pause or back up the vids and catch all the detail. Thanks for the great content, JT, keep 'em coming.

Not disappointing at all. A single loco brings up all kinds of conjecture. Is he coming back from a helper job, going to a helper job? And who is he helping? A heavy freight, Amtrak, MOW? Is he going for maintenance, gas, or ice cream? I could go on all day...

Hey Jaw Tooth, Have you ever thought of bringing one of those thermal scannerd a taking the temp of the tracks before and after a long freight. I might try that tomorrow morning when Im having my coffee in Ellicott City. For those that don't know rail history, the first railroad in the country ran from Baltimore City to Ellicott City. The ld main line still sees plenty of traffic. The first railroad station is now a train museum in Ellicott City. Just south of Ellicott City is The Thomas Viaduct. The first and largest curved multi arch bridge in the country. It was completed in 1835 and still has railroad traffic. St Dennis and Relay are close by and a popular railfan hangout for taking video. I hope you come to visit us for some great railroad history. A little farther west in Sykesville the railroad workers went on strike in the 1800's. It was the first time troops were transported by train when they were sent to Sykesville to help with keeping order.

Deadhead power moves are alright with me, it's just another aspect of railroading. There are a lot more deer in urban areas than most peopie realize. When I was a kid in Milwaukee our neighborhood was overrun with them and the police would come through once a year to cull them out using shotguns. A lot of people were irritated that the cops could shoot deer and they couldn't. I think the action you caught was excellent and enjoyed it greatly, thanks JT!
