One of the Largest Churches in Paris | Paris, France Vlog | Saint-Sulpice

One of our favorite aspects of France are all the magnificent churches. It's one of our main goals whenever we visit France, to visit one or more of the local churches. We discovered Saint-Sulpice by accident during our most recent trip to Paris in October and it did not disappoint. It is truly spectacular!

Absolutely. One of the many joys of walking around Paris is coming across such wonderful churches. Saint Sulpice is a favorite of ours. We were fascinated by the ancient Gnomon of Saint Sulpice. M&R

If you ever come back to Saint Sulpice, don't miss one of the most famous religious paintings : The fight between Jacob and God, in the first lateral chapel on the right. It was painted by Eugène Delacroix. By the way, when you went out of the church, you were just in front of Catherine Deneuve's flat 😉 (famous French actress)

Did not know that about Catherine Deneuve's flat. And yes, we plan to go back. We are headed back to France in February but won't be visiting Paris during that trip.

So happy for you that you discovered Saint-Sulpice. However, it is located in the Saint Germain-des-Prés district, not the Latin Quarter. Perhaps you’re confusing the church with Saint-Séverin?

That church was magnificent! (but, I don't know about those chairs, wouldn't they be noisy if they were scooted?) It was truly glorious to see though. So, that's why they call those ceilings "cathedral ceilings", wow!

Hi Debby! Sorry for the delayed response. I'm just catching up on comments. It's so funny you mentioned that about the chairs. I said the same thing to Tony when we were there, that the chairs look so clunky and uncomfortable. He said he believed it was purposeful to keep people awake and limit people getting up and moving around during mass. Makes sense, I think! Hope you are having a good week.

We did not because we returned to the US. We are going back and forth at this point and staying within the 90-day limitation.
