One of the last 1975 Dart Swingers off the line?

Huntsville Dodge may have received this very late '75 when they expected to get a '76!

I have one reference that states the '76 Dodges were introduced 10/16/75. If correct, they had to start building the '76 models before that. The Aspen/Volare made it to the dealers around New Years-early January 76.

My '76 Valiant sedan I originally thought was a very early model year production due to the last 4 digits on the VIN. I never thought much of it because I got it for free, it's a sedan, and it's an oddball. A Mopar buddy about lost it when he saw that the door sticker and the other clues- it was right at the end of A-body production. That would explain why it is a Custom, but with a vinyl top, passenger door mirror, map light, 8.25" sure-grip in 2.76 flavor, A51package, HD cooling, fender top turn signal reminders, , defog and other things. The original owner told me she drove into Town & Country Chrysler-Plymouth (North Seattle) December of '76 or January of '77 and it was sitting there. They made her a very sweet deal to get rid of it...

Very cool info..... My 71 Nova was build on the 3rd week of March in 71. GM must have been running out of some 71 parts a my car has a 72 wiring harness and back-up lens's. I'm a numbers geek also!!!..Keep up the great work!!!

Really enjoying your videos on this Swinger. Wish I had these 20 yrs ago when I had a few of these and was always trying to figure out all the smog and vacuum lines. I'm hoping to pick up a '73 with a slant six. I'll be freezing alot of your vids to try and see where all the lines go! Take care.

Everything I read said my 1975 Lincoln should have had that seat belt starter interlock, but it does not, and no signs of it being removed. I need to go check my build date but I bet it’s after January 1975.

Hey Tyler good explanation on the VIN # for the 75 Swinger. When I first went to work at the Quad Chrysler dealership here in Florida it was late 1975. We had 3 or 4 leftover 75 models still in stock. One was a 75 Swinger with a 318. Also a 4 Dr Valiant with 318. And lastly a Coronet 2 Dr. I remember the Swinger was an LH23 but it was the last one to go because I think the color was just not very attractive. It was a pale green with a dark green vinyl roof. By the time we sold these leftover units it was early 1976 and we were selling Aspens and Volare’s already. Your video brought back memories.

The late 74 Chevy Nova my dad bought had the interlock. He had the service department disable it.

I had a 74 Dodge Dart with the LA 318. I disabled the interlock by simply disconnecting the seat switch connector under the seat. Apparently the interlock didn't prevent the car from being started with no one in the driver's seat! It wasn't a great car, though. The 76 Aspen I bought to replace it wasn't much better. Afterwards I have owned only three cars, two Toyotas and one Honda which I still own today. Much more reliable and fuel efficient.

I drove a rented 1976 Dodge Dart once and it seemed strange after using the old school brake handle on three different previous Darts (1965, 1969, and 1974).

Tyler, Great Thumbnail of the dealership....Does it still have the catalytic convertor....maybe some things were simplified because the convertor's "job" was to clean the emissions a bit. My '74 Duster Slant six has the OSAC and the radiator vacuum thingy and the seat belt interlock...LOL...but no convertor though😀
