Craig is a beast! Lenny’s whole band was world class. One of the most passionate players I’ve been privileged to see live.

Lenny Kravitz has always surrounded himself with great musicians and his music will always bring bck some of the best times of my life, Living in Boston when his 1st album came out and got a chance to see Him and The Cult at The Orpheum , really small venue in dwntwn Beantwn, Still one of the best shows Ive ever been to AND THIS KID BLEW EVERYONES MIND THAT NGHT, NOT only an incredibly talented CAT, as Lenny calls him BUT his stage presence with all his gear standing in front of a stack of Marshall amps and that Crazy Cool Ass Hair looked and sounded like he was shot fast fwrd outta a Canon from the late 60s early 70s and landed in that theater...I remember everyone on the way out talking about how he stole the show.. Without even trying!! and I think Lenny has no problem with that at all!!..with all that being said.. YES ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE BEST !!!!!

Ross (known as Kreg Ross at the time) was in a great, underappreciated band from LA called The Broken Homes. They were together between 1986 - 1990. You can catch his great work on their second album ("Straight Line Through Time") which someone graciously uploaded to the 'tube: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqu9h5lpgbeKgNU

His melodic and rhythmic sense is better than Slash. Slash was more of a technical acrobat; Ross is much more of a feel player. I prefer Ross, but I feel they are equals, as far as lead rock guitar is concerned.

In addition to that, slash has much more predictable/cliche pattern or style of playing and he is not funky, nonetheless both are great and have distinctive sound, I do prefer Craig too!

Well said! Marc Ford once told me in an interview that Craig Ross was the only guy in LA who really scared him back when they were both getting started in the 80's. Ross has such a great lyrical feel to his playing. Obviously a Jimmy Page acolyte, but he takes the ball and runs with it.
