I had the pleasure of being on this flight back in 2008. There is only 8 pilots in the world licensed to fly into there. They can only use Visual Flight Rules and not ILS. The flight is certainly the most amazing ever coming from Kathmandu Nepal into Bhutan along the Himalayas.

I get that the approach was tricky but what was crazy about that. The pilot handled it smoothly. Crazy is when the wind blows the plane sideways as it's wheels hit the ground.

Not sure either I know when I was training to be a pilot I was told not to wear polarized sunglasses because it would reduce my ability to see other planes in flight. It reduced the glare from the sun reflecting off of other aircraft in flight.

The airport only has VFR approaches, so if you can't see it, you can't land.
