One-on-one with Cowboys legend Charles Haley

Pro football hall of famer and 5-time Super Bowl champion Charles Haley sits down with our Keith Russell. In their one-on-one the former Dallas Cowboy linebacker shares his perspective on the team's 2023-2024 season.

Charles is a legend. Nobody had the combo of size, strength, power, speed, burst, bend, and desire to get the QB than him. Most of all his success overcoming mental health issues is what impresses me though. Now he is humbly helping others and giving back. Mr. Haley, Thanks for showing us how to be a good human and helping others. Call me crazy but I think Slam Williams has flashed similar physical gifts to get to the QB and blow up plays(Micah more finesse). But the intangible desire is nothing close to Charles. He regressed this year after a great rookie year. Losing my faith in him cuz he is not improving, makes bad decisions(penalties), and is not using the gifts that God gave him to be a legend himself. Cmon Slam Williams lets do what we know you can do!

We haven't had a players with his killer mentality since Charles stopped playing ....not even Parsons....the difference with players like Charles, Emmit, Michael, Moose, Troy is that when the playoffs were in the line they had to prove they were better than the opposition.....they never went out on the field assuming they were better....thats the difference between the current group and true winners.

More people need to "Recognize" Charles Haley. He was a disruptive force on defense. This man has "Earned" 5 Super Bowl Rings ( 2nd only to Tom Brady ). He was phenomenal. Thats an Alpha Dogg right there. oNe LovE from NYC

I’m not a Cowboys fan and I was pissed at Dallas for not showing up on defense! They literally squandered a golden opportunity to get a possible championship because they were not ready for it. The defense has to be better consistently.

The biggest mistake of his tenure , said the owner of the 49ers at that time, was letting Charles go. They didn't understand his mental issues back then and thought the best way was to rid of him. He came back to haunt them in 2 NFC Championship games.

Charles Haley. Never been or was a Cowboy or 49er fan but, boy, I always had great love, respect and admiration for many of their players. Lott, Montana, Irvin, Troy, Haley, Norton Jr, etc, etc,etc. Great great players and super great guys!!!

Simply put, the Cowboys as currently constructed, don't have players with super bowl winning character on this team. Say what you want about Charles Hailey and Michael Irvin, but ON THE FIELD, those guys were flat out WINNERS. They were about winning super bowls and anything less was not tolerated. These guys today don't appear to have that type of hunger and expectation.

Mr. Haley, I think our players really wanted to win and would have done anything necessary to get the team to the next level. Things have changed. We don't have Jimmy Johnson. The coaches did not develop (and then practice) a winning defensive strategy. Thats on Quinn and ultimately, Mike McCarthy. This game was too important to accept failure.

Honestly I did not think Dallas would be SF . They lost to 4 top opponents on the road. Including Miami and Buffalo. When they start winning road games against to teams then they will have taken that next step toward success. Players have to do it. Mike cannot do it all. Players have to have that that drive in the playoffs. Playoffs are different than regular season. There is no tomorrow. Players have reach down and say , we will play tomorrow in the playoffs. Dallas has to become a good road team. The 93,94, and 96 teams were.

Ex Cowboy plays knew how to win Championships, but in the last 28 years, players think it should be handed to them. This team is not entitled to a Championship because there is no Championship Player on this team that's knows how to win a Championship. I blame the coaches and the players, and if Jerry doesn't do something to really shake things up the 2024 season will be the same result

These players played for the love of the game & team. Most of these players now talk alot trash want to make sure the focus in on their clowning ways when they make a play. Self-centered about me this is why they got their ass kicked, embarrassing humiliating loss at home. Starts at the top( what you tolerate you encourage to do more.They need a coach with a set of balls & discipline is obvious McCarthy is more about the next dinner than preparing a team to show up. Strahan said it best when JJ introduction to the Ring of Honor. They look like a bunch of actors instead of players.

When Dallas beat the commanders to be the 2 seed my first question was will Dallas play well the next week against the Packers. After a big game Dallas never does well the following week. We all saw that in all the games they lost during the regular season. What I said about playing well against the packers next week became a self-fulfilling prophecy. Cowboys do not have that killer instinct, mental toughness, the will to win. Dak Prescot is good but not a cerebral quarterback.

And the last one Charles won with SF is the last one SF won too!! To me, the difference with the players of the past and the players of now is they have it too easy. The players union have fought for only a few practices per week, only a few preseason games, only a few practices with pads per season and you have to spread them out throughout per season. Can't do this, can't do that. Way too many "privileges" and it's made them soft!! Michael is just upset. Blowing it up isn't an option, it would take way too long to rebuild and JJ doesn't have time. So, bring back MM (you know JJ will), give Joe Whitt the DC (as long as he has new ideas) and Al Harris the passing/secondary coordinator position. Move on from the LBs coach McCurley and get better game scouts. I wish they would get in these players faces and tell them no more social media, no more podcasts during the season and if you want to play for the Cowboys you have to raise your level and fight like dogs for a championship and if you don't then you will be replaced and released, and this mentality of my sht don't stink since I'm a Cowboy, or for whatever reason, has got to be stopped immediately, or you're gone! Then fight the players association for more padded practices!! The last few drafts were questionable but this draft is crucial... OL, DL, LB, RB, CB, WR! We can only hope and pray they fight their way back!! 💙🤠 !GO COWBOYS! 🤠💙

I'm certainly glad that todays Media wasn't around when the cowboys first hired Tom Landry as coach, you see Tom Landry lost back-to-back NFL championships in 66 and 1967, he didn't win the super bowl until 1971 which I believe was probably his 12th season. If you people in the media were around Tom Landry would have been fired in 1964.

You'll got to remember all or most of those players on greenbay were track stars they ran a 4.2 plus speed track stars, and on paper my team my cowboys look great to dominate the game, thou the real fact is that greenbay have fresh young quicker legs all or most were quicker than most or all of dallas cowboys team. Those knee high pad greenbay boys, were simply quicker period than dallas and I have been a cowboys fan since 1978. I figure it out. A complete foot race 🏁track stars. My boys were simply slower than greenbay period. They came with a great plan pretty much just like sanfrancisco quicker and couple of hard count of an old Aaron Rogers. Plus studied Dak, the only fast player on the team with real speed is CD Lamb. Study CD lamb and green will win for Dak will be looking for him all game long. There plan won the game easily for greenbay. Done deal. 😢😢💯. On paper my team look great bot we were not quicker than very young greenbay foot race.😢😢😢great scheme.

The current players are soft and mentally weak. They don't compare to Haley or the last SB champs of this franchise. They look for excuses, referees, coaches, Mike.
