FYI, One Piece series creator gave a strict "no romance among the crewmembers" rule to the showrunners of the live action adaptation, so you can rule out any official ships among Zoro and Nami or whoever. In general, Oda doesn't focus that much on romance in One Piece, even outright saying, in response to a fan asking if characters will fall in love, "THEY'RE IN LOVE WITH ADVENTURE". He later elaborated that romance stuff isn't really his strong-suit and there are plenty of other manga and anime if you're looking for that kind of thing.

Remember, it’s based off of a Japanese manga, and in Japan, family names come first. So with Monkey D. Luffy, Monkey is his family name, and Luffy is his given name. Hence why people call him Luffy in general. Same with Roronoa Zoro. Roronoa is the family name, so everyone typically calls him Zoro

Im just sad he really did just become a villain of the week. He was so menacing, but got taken out so quickly once the actual fight happened, and Zoro didn't get injured. The episode ends exactly where it started and nothing really came out of it. Its a shame because Buggy's flashily amazing in this.

The confusion is because Hispanic is just as Germanic, it is an cultural, linguistic, "ethnic" group to some extente, not a "racial" one. Iñaki is mixed, but of predominantly "white/Caucasoid" ancestry, it is quite obvious, white Colton is very obviously mulatto, of mixed white and back ancestry. They do not look alike, tbh, that's hwy some people got confused.

When you started speaking over the part where young Luffy is having the devil fruits explained to him I was concerned you’d miss some important things. I was right 😂 So basically Luffy was told that the trade off from getting powers from the devil fruits is that “the ocean turns her back on you”. So yes sea water becomes a kryptonite for devil fruit users (which is why luffy also said he pretty much can’t swim). It drains them of their powers and weakens their strength to the point that they are useless 😊

To me Luffy is like the Ted Lasso of the Straw Hat Crew. He’s so positive, motivational, and honest with everyone he interacts with that he makes everyone just want to be better-or kill him. But, for his crew at least, it makes it easy to follow a guy like that because you just naturally want to believe a guy who’s willing to inspire instead of trying to rule by fear and intimidation. It’s like Luffy maxed out on Charisma and Strengrh, while sacrificing a bit of Intelligence (but not like zeroed it out). Lol

Buggy is so good! I love that they played him like the Joker. And that he had a literal captive audience. Honestly the most engaging part of the entire season to me is that we are following Koby because it really is the newest material. Garp is also a standout to me. I love the way they did Luffy's backstory with Shanks and the Lord of the Coast. Shanks did have the line “You’re putting your life on the line by pointing that at me" and I'm sad they didn't keep it. I always thought that was the most badass line. And pretty integral to the way Shanks lives his life. Also, Shanks does not have a devil fruit. In the manga, there is no boat. Shanks is swimming and holding Luffy.I love that each episode's title screen is a different Jolly Roger!

You'll only realize how amazing it is when, one day, you're watching or reading it and come to the realization that everything is connected. Next thing you know, you're theory crafting and analyzing every aspect, every word shown and spoken. They say it's too long, but every person who follows through the journey of "One Piece" will tell you it's too short. The camaraderie, the found family, and the theme of following your dreams make it even more beautiful. Although it may not be for everyone, it has something for everyone.

Hi guys, glad you are enjoying the show so far! I will say that something to keep in mind about One Piece is that many of the earlier antagonists are fairly two-dimensional. That doesn't necessarily make them bad, mind you, but it's completely understandable if you don't really gel with them or the style they're going for. Same goes for humor in the show; some of it will land and some of it won't. In my opinion, the live-action show definitely has some problems, but I think the absolute standout is the core crew and their relationships with one another. When the show is focused on them it's truly at it's best. That's just my opinion though!

The thing about one piece is, a lot of things fly over your head but if you sit down and think about certain things you see the parts of the show that you think are "kinda dark" are really freakin dark and the more you think about certain things the realer and darker it gets and I love that it is reflected in the show, take coby's case for example he had his village pillaged, most likely watched a lot of people die, got taken hostage and basically forced to watched more and more people die from all the pillaging and fighting the pirates do all the time, forced to clean up the mess of the blood and organs of the murdered persons off the ship and weapons of murder and thats probably just the tip of the iceberg, when we met him he had no hope of being saved meaning he has been on the ship long enough to lose all hope of getting rescued and when he was rescued he had thoughts like "maybe I should go back", so he had probably been on alvida's ship since he was a child, with all that in mind it makes sense why he constantly scared or cowardly, the kid has been through more than a lot.

Yes, Buggy is prone. Notice he got splashed as well when Luffy was freed. He didn't separate his body to simply get the map. He crawled over to it. He alluded to how much they're affected. "just a few splashes" But this is late and by now you've all figured it out.

So yes, Devil Fruit users can't swim, it's one of the trade-offs for the powers. Being about half-submerged in water will cause Devil Fruit users to have their energy sapped and then they sink like a hammer (or an anchor). It's a gradual thing of course, not like an off switch, and stuff like rain or splashes from waves won't affect them, but when Luffy said last episode that he couldn't swim this was the reason. Anything that emanates the frequency of the sea can also affect Devil Fruit users, but there are very few materials capable of that. With Buggy's fruit he does have some key weaknesses, water is of course one all Devil Fruit users share but for Buggy he has two other ones; first is that his separated body parts can still feel pain from brute force, in the anime Luffy does that pretty effectively, and the other is that his separated body parts have a range before they become limp, so like the episode does you can separate Buggy from his body parts to limit him.

Dunno if you guys are still reading these but here's a cool tidbit about Buggy (no spoilers): the detail of his nose being his actual nose is the basis for a large part of his personality and life choices. Born with this enormous ugly round nose, he developed a huge inferiority complex and decided he had no choice but to lean into it by painting it red and calling himself a clown. So he's not a clown who happens to have a big nose; he has a big nose, therefore he became a clown. He uses the clown costume to "hide" the nose. The writer of One Piece (Oda) is really good at using small details of a character's appearance to tell a story about the character, and he rarely bothers to explain it in text. He just draws it and lets us figure it out. Pretty awesome stuff imo.😁

So a significant difference with this show and the anime is how much Coby and the Marines we actually see. In the anime/manga after Coby separates from Luffy he kinda just disappears from the story for a long time until he suddenly appears out of no where with Garp one day. Oda didn't really do alot of storytelling outside of the Straw Hats's experiences for a long time but it's cool to see Coby actually grow vs seeing him be further along in spurts.

Maybe it was a coincidence when he said "For Sparta", but the guy who plays Garp was actually a Spartan in the movie, 300! He played the Spartan captain who lost his son because he wasn't paying attention and got beheaded.

Buggy is not supposed to be unhinged, but he is a pirate captain. The actor did a superb job bringing Buggy to life. I think you guys were comparing and expecting him to be the Joker or like the Joker, instead of just taking the character as he presented himself. However, I'm glad you guys are enjoying the live depiction of this story, it is a great epic beloved by many throughout the world.

Koby snitching actually makes sense, remember Luffy is disappointed he didn't have wanted poster? Having a wanted poster means you made it in the circle of pirates and Luffy claimed to be a Pirate. So Koby doing him a favor by giving his name to the authority, so now the authority would make a wanted poster for him. Koby be like "here's the name of my friend, now make him a wanted poster"

This series is a freakking miracle. And I'm not even a fan of One Piece (I've read maybe up to 10 tomes, over a decade ago, then dropped it because I felt it was going nowhere), but goddamn, this show is so good it actually makes me want to dive in the OG series again. As for Buggy the clown, you guys gotta have to know a bit of the context : This manga came out first in 1997 ! That's a whopping decade before Heath Ledger's Joker in Dark Knight. So obviously, there were some beats that would feel very clichés, because this character is basically the Pirate manga version of the Batman's Animated show's Joker, with some superpowers on top of it. And frankly, I feel like the actor nailed him to perfection, and even added some more flavor (especially post Ledger) compared to the manga. Also, if you want to se some super wholsome reactions from actual long time fans of the manga and anime, you can go watch the reactions of Sorta Stupid's channel. They're all die-hard fans from the first hour, and when I watched their reactions to each episode, it's basically like watching one of your reactions on Marvel or star Wars stuff, grownass adult children who are losing their nuts over any single little details that pop up on screen, with all the easter eggs hunt and all. You're gonna love them !

I think the feeling of Buggy not being or not feeling like he is threatening is on purpose, and you will probably get it a bit more the further into this season you get, I think it is actually great that you felt like that because that is what that character is, on the surface, you feel like he should be scary, but the reality is very different, hope you guys keep enjoying it

you guys may have talked over it last episode -- sea water is a devil fruit user weakness thus the name because it has a devilish price and something about the fact that the origins are a sort of myth. but you will be sent to davy jones locker to meet the devil if you ever return to the water -- something like that -- i may be mis remembering but that is the energy and jist

So Buggy is basically the best character in One Piece. Just in general. I love how TV Tropes described this version of Buggy, though, like the Joker if he were played by John Malkovich. I'd describe how I feel about the episode as a whole beyond this, but I feel like I can't fully do that without comparing it to how things play out in the manga/anime, and I also don't want to inadvertently spoil anything by doing so. I will at least say that Buggy gets a more in-depth backstory in the manga/anime, but I honestly like what they did in the show, keeping things vague in such a way that it actually implies something we learn about Buggy much, much later on in the story. Not sure if that was intentional or not, but I like it all the same. Also, I'm saying it right here and right now, as a long-time One Piece fan, if you ever DO get into the anime, I don't advice skipping arcs that are canon with the manga. Everything about One Piece is good and has a reason for being there, which does admittedly mean catching up to where it is now can be a bit daunting. If it's any consolation, when it comes to the anime, a good chunk of those episodes are anime-exclusive filler that don't really amount to anything and most of it is pretty mediocre anyway (the only real good filler arc is G-8 arc, episodes 196-206).
