For most of the questions or criticisms you have about plot holes or things that don't make sense, it's addressed in the manga/anime (the beginning of the anime doesn't drag much). Luffy wasn't an urchin/orphan, he was a mostly unattended child that spent most of his time hanging in his village, being looked after by Makino or the mayor. LA child Luffy was honestly disappointing because they played Luffy's flashback too seriously. Child Luffy was like an ADHD kid on a sugar high, hence why he does these brash and wild things like cutting himself to prove his manliness or munching down on a devil fruit because he's a bottomless pit and will eat anything edible in the vicinity. In the anime version, the box containing the devil fruit was sitting on the bar next to Luffy. Discovering that he ate a devil fruit, Shanks gives him the essential bits of information: 1. rubber man 2. can't swim 3. he's an idiot (Kinda a spoiler) . . . In the East Blue, devil fruits are basically a legend and no one knows much about them or believe that they actually exist. So, Makino explaining devil fruits to Luffy wouldn't make sense.

I wish I found the words myself. The main actor has good Luffy energy, but its moments like that which show the live action series still has some kinks. (No, not the kind people have for Luffy swallowing a map) No offense to the kid actor, but this is an adaptation with professional expectations. And Luffy should have been especially loud and rowdy as a child. And while being live action doesn’t leave much room for crazy cartoon reactions, it shouldn’t take much effort to still have Luffy and Shanks screaming in shock. but when Shanks pulled his arm, they both just stared dramatically at each other.

Since you are confused on the weakness of devil Fruit users I’ll be explaining it with an answer from Oda himself(the context to this was oda being asked how devil fruit users bathe) Oda: First of all. let's discuss the problem of Devil Fruit users bathing themselves. People who have eaten a Devil Fruit are hated" by the sea, and cannot swim. The "sea" here can refer to anything from rivers, pools and baths to any kind of standing water. On a worldwide level they are all the "sea." When these people enter the water, not only can they not use their powers, they have trouble moving their bodies at all. They might be able to struggle a bit, but it wouldn't do much good. That's if their entire bodies are submerged in the "sea." With less than half the body or just the limbs, it gets easier. Also, rain and dripping water have no effect at all. Therefore, hip baths or showers are the most common choice.

Buggy for example, in water , can be cut up into pieces and it wouldn’t effect him, but he’d be too nullified to manually split himself apart himself. Should think of it more as the ocean trying to stop a person from using the ability, not taking the ability from them

Yes. In the manga Buggy's powers are a reverse of Luffy´s at this point in the story. Luffy can stretch and use physics to gain power and momentum. He can also take blunt damage with zero issues, but swords and cutting weapons do work on him. Buggy on the other hand can move around freely within his range of influence, is not immune to blunt damage (if hit), but any sharp object is completely useless against him. The ironic part about Buggy's powers is that if Buggy was actually smart and competent his powers would be absolutely broken. In the right hands the user could duel Mihawk and be completely immune to his attacks and possibly win as well. He could also make himself near invisible by cutting down to small enough pieces as to be invisible to the naked eye. He could even get through any door or obstacle if there are small openings. Not to mention he could dodge basically any attack, even ones that he should take damage from, and get out of any type of grab move. The possibilities for Buggy's fruit are ridiculous. Luffy was lucky that it was Buggy who had it.

As a one oiece fan of 10+ years, all i can say is.. well done. Each character was represented really well. I have minor critiques about the fact that they removed certain moments, and certain characters, but it definitely makes me feel like this is one piece brought to life. It was the perfect amount of corny, action packed, and surprising emotion that made me have fun with this. My favorite character is Mihawk and they showed mah boy the most love

I think one of the reasons why they even bothered to make this live action series, Is because the anime/manga is said to be ending in either 2024 or 2025 so I guess they probably thought rebooting it in live action was a good way for new generations to watch the series. However I don't think this new One Piece series will last as long as the anime Especially because it's Netflix series, Hell I predict that this remake will last 2 maybe 3 seasons tops and that's it.

As for the devil fruits weakness its officially any "body of water" be it sea water, fresh water, or a tank of apple juice that can partially submerge the devil fruit user. I think its a foot or two of liquid before the effect kicks in. So taking a bath weakens them but rain or tears or being sopping wet don't. The live action show might have changed it a little though to just be seawater because that's easier to communicate.

The snails, aka "Den Den Mushi" are telepathic, and outfitted with electronics that allow them to be used for long distance communication. They can mimic the appearance of their owner, or even the person on the other end of the call, right down to their emotional state. The little ones that Nami and Mihawk were using were the live action version of baby den den mushi. There are many varieties, including black den den mushi that can listen in on calls, spiked ones that can jam signals, and even video camera and projector den den mushi.

The water thing is a little inconsistent, even in the source material. But here are a couple bullet points about Devil Fruits, and One Piece on general: 1 - It doesn't need to be salt water, even fresh water will have the same effect in someone with a DF, as well as any other liquid in a large enough quantity. 2 - Getting splashed or just overall wet isn't enough to weaken a DF holder/user or disable their power. Buggy was exaggerating about "a splash of water". They need to be submerged, or at least it seems like there needs to be a certain percentage of their body below the water. Like being submerged above the waistline. 3 - Luffy ate his whole Devil Fruit just because he's the kind of guy to eat whatever's presented to him even if it tastes terrible. 3 - The band of land that encircles the planet isn't the only land. There's a LOT of islands around the world, and that's where the vast majority of all stories within this world take place. 4 - Buggy's nose isn't painted, that's his actual nose and it's actual color. That's why he's so defensive about it, and I also suspect it's the reason for his clown motif. Because no one's gonna question why a clown has a huge honking red nose, but if Buggy were just dressed up in standard pirate clothes, that nose would look really out of place. 5 - 14:22 This guy was in the anime and manga, but not like this. His name is Lucky Roo, and he wasn't black, but he was always seen holding a huge chunk of meat in one of his hands, but it was never chicken, it was one of those pieces of cartoon-y meat that has a bone going through it. Lucky Roo being black and eating chicken specifically was only in the Netflix version, as was him using meat as a weapon. Also, he has a really great moment where he straight up executes someone for threatening Shanks in one of the coldest moments in the anime. I honestly think this whole scene was much better in the anime and manga. 6 - This is my interpretation of this version, but I read the "just an arm" thing from Shanks in one of two ways. He's either downplaying it to comfort Luffy, or he's telling Luffy that losing an arm doesn't matter compared to losing him. 7 - The snails are called Transponder Snails. They basically seem to be telepathic creatures that people in this world can use to make calls, like a cross between cell phones and walkie talkies. Some are only used to communicate with a specific person, and they usually resemble that person, but it's unclear whether that's a biological ability of the snails or something the people do to them to show who that snail is meant to communicate with. Like, I don't know if the series will get this far, but there's a character in One Piece who wears a VERY distinctive pair of sunglasses literally at all times, and every time we've seen someone communicate with them via transponder snail, the snail is wearing the same sunglasses as him.

So to answer your question about what the weird af snails with human teeth are, they're called Transponder Snails and they're psychic; making them capable of doing all sorts of things that modern electronic devices can do, such as make phone calls or even take pictures with their eyes. The reason the show uses snails instead of traditional phones and cameras is because a). It's more interesting this way, and b). Because the series is set in a pre-industrial period where electricity doesn't exist for the common folk, most people are sea faring, and satellites don't exist.

while the water weakening devil fruit powers isn't always consistent in the anime/manga, the show seems to imply just being splashed will make them fall to their knees. they should be able to walk through knee high water fine, though may feel a little weak. much higher and they really may struggle, but should generally be fine if the can stand. it makes it even more confusing when Luffy is splashed by water later, as with all the setup it seems like he was knocked out because it was water, and not because the person who splashed him can throw water like bullets.

Which is a unit of measurement equal to about 10 "Fairy Tale Gomu Gomus", and 1 "Fairy Tale Gomu Gomu" is about 10 "Funky Gomu Gomus". Buggy and Luffys power are kinda oposit to each other in a sense. Luffy is imune to pistoles and punches don't really hurt him, exept from a few individuals , but cuts and stabs from swords, knives and stuff like that will hurt him and make him bleed. But Buggy is imune to cuts and stabs, he doesn't bleed from them and i thinks it is just uncomfortable for him, but pistoles are hurting him. And fire hurt them both. In Manga/Anime Luffy hit him more he also kick him in his special place, that knock him out for a few minutes. And Buggys nose is natural that red, he doesn't paint it. Yeah Zoro is the coolest guy. I must say does actores are all fantastic. They feel like the character. Even how they walk and move feel like in the Anime. Yeah it is not 1 to 1 like the Manga or the Anime, Buggys fight is very different. But it is still fun and it make sense how they change it. But i still recommendet everyone to still read the Manga and watch the Anime. Because it is a amazing fun emotional actionpakt good story.

To answer your questions about devil fruits 1. Devil Fruits in the East Blue (the area where they are at) is very rare and they don't come across Devil Fruit users as much. Most Devil Fruit users are in the Grandline. When Luffy ate one, they just accepted it and moved on. 2. When a person eats a devil fruit, they automatically know what devil fruit they ate and gain its knowledge. There is a canon Devil Fruit Encyclopedia but it only has information on previously discovered Devil Fruits but there are a lot more that are undiscovered. 3. Devil Fruit users start losing their strength in the water if half of their body is fully submerged. They cant swim if they are dully submerged.

Buggy's comment is an exxageration. Sea water weakens Devil users but doesn't prevent them from using their powers. And the more water is involved, the weaker the characters get. So a watergun would be a annoying but throwing a bucket of water at him would get him very woozy for a moment. Also Luffy can't stretch infinitely, he does have a breaking point. And at least in the anime, all those questions you ask, DO get answered. But yes if a piece of Buggy gets caught in water, his entire body would go limp

2:16 This is a question even the anime and manga dindt answer and Oda went to answer in SBS: moving water dont make you weak (rain, showering), the water you drink and its inside you dont make you weak, all water could be used to weaken an devil fruit user, if part of you body is submerged you cant use your powers but still can move, you only stop moving when half of your body is submerged, even if you are entiree submerged and unable to move your power that alter your body still function since in the anime when Luffy was drowing someone strecht his head to the surface so he wont drow.

Devil fruit users can stil use their powers even when wet or raining. They have to be submerged in water for the curse to take effect. Or have some sea stone cuffs on. Theres a guy thats a ice man that can turn into ice and freeze large portions of the ocean to ride his bike on. So at some point water is a minor inconvenience for certain devil fruits and their users.

As for why Nami is coming along, in the anime, they do a great job making it clear that each crew member has a personal goal, or “dream,” that they are able to pursue, because Luffy understands that his dream isn’t the only one that matters, and that by empowering his crew in such a way makes them better able to help him. So if this one hasn’t told you what Nami’s dream is, it’s falling short in that regard.

The seawater thing is still not fully addressed in the manga, as far as I’m aware. There’s just some mystical power in the sea, and the extent of power loss seems to depend loosely on how much water they contacted and for how long. Like, there’s a couple of instances of Luffy managing to stretch through seawater though it seems difficult, and if you’re sinking you literally can’t use your powers to help save yourself. At one point in the anime Luffy is holding onto a boat and properly falls in but his hand is still on the boat; he almost instantly loses strength, and his hand doesn’t instantly retract like usual. It’s like he starts fainting from the seawater contact.

Also, a stab wound wouldnt harm buggy either because his body isnt harmed by any degree of seperation from itself. Stabbing something is the same action as splitting it apart so his body woukd just go back together as soon as the the knife is removed

Regarding the sound of the T-Rex when a monster appears - that’s the point. The creators wanted to create certain associations in the viewer, so that he would subconsciously hear a familiar sound and feel a threat from the monster. This is directing.

Here's the thing about stabbing Buggy, I don't think it's supposed to work like that. Trying not to spoil this in case it ever does get that far but he had to walk through a field of spikes once and his feet just divided to the point they went between them. So I think he's supposed to be immune to both cutting and piercing attacks, but I also kinda speed ran catching back up with the series, so for all I know he just divided without the spikes causing it.

fishmen have an innate ability to control water through fishman karate, sorta like water bending. the better you are with fishman karate, the more water you can control or the more powerfully you can move smaller amounts of water. arlong often tosses a handful of water and it moves like a bullet, the greatest fishman karate master can redirect and throw entire ocean currents and send devastating shockwaves through the water in the air/peoples bodies. they dont really get into it in live action, but i think the splashing hurting luffy is meant to be based on arlong throwing water in the manga a lot.

21:45 Because he actually *does* need to be submerged in seawater for it to effect him. It’s just that it doesn’t have to be very much. Even a puddle that’s a few inches deep, as long as part of him is *submerged* in the water, it effects him. But if he’s just wet from seawater, the effect goes away. Otherwise, he’d be laying around for hours unable to move.

The answer to your question at 2:17 is yes. It doesn't take your powers it makes you sink and paralyzes you. They do get weak around sea water but sea prism stone is the only thing the paralyses them. Because It's a part of the sea. They talk about it in the show and manga just not this show

2:45 - You make some really good points. The only times in the Anime, when the people with Devil Fruit powers, lose their strength is when they're in the sea....or in something that's directly connected to the sea that's filled with sea-water (like a large room that's filling with sea water). I can't think of any instance where Loofy just getting wet with sea water was enough for him to lose his strength. Sounds like they might just be adding rules. I always got the impression it was like a Poseidon thing...where the water had to be touching the sea... 21:12 - Just wait until they capture Buggy's body parts (except for his feet, hands and head) and Buggy's running around like that. It's been a while since I watched the Anime...but I though Buggy was left like that for several episodes....if not a second story arch.

26:00 The snails are telepathic. In the manga and Anime, they take on some characteristics of whoever is on the other end of the line, just like that "Iron Jaw" snail you see there. In the live action, they reversed it so the snail takes on a few physical features of whoever's using it instead of the person on the other end of the connection. The snails are basically an excuse to have "telephones" in a world without any technology more advanced than sailing ships....at least across most of the world.

Interesting thing about the fruit buggy ate. When he was younger, his captain found a devil fruit shaped like a pineapple and shanks told him about it being valuable and how it works. He planned to steal the fruit and sell it. Then get his own crew to use map he found to find a treasure. Shanks surprised him when he was holding the fruit and he shoved the fruit in his mouth. He was surprised by him again and he accidently swallowed the fruit. He dropped the map and tried to catch but fell into the water where he was saved be shanks.

your question about the water stuff does actually et more specific. basically, you have to be partially submerged for the weakening to start (unless you have a DF that is specifically extra weak to water. you can get rained on, or step in a puddle with little or no issue, but the more water your in contact with the worse the effect gets. bath is no shower is yes.

0:54 That’s because it is rare. Outside of the Grand Line, at least. In the 4 seas, East Blue, West Blue, North Blue, and South Blue, devil fruits are *extremely* rare. Because most of them are in the Grand Line. So they’re both rare, *and* a common occurrence. It just depends on where.
