I’ve watched one piece since 2007 and have watched countless of theories, in other words, my favourite show I’ve ever watched, never knew there was a card game till now

The game is fun for a bit but honestly I find it way too simple compared to other card games. It has bare minimum player interaction so if you like games with engaging back and forth turns, you might not stick with One Piece for long.

@@lilhoss4reals this game has just been around for a year... and allowed many new player to embrace it. It will get more technical (op05/06 already brings new mechanics or increase combo possibilities) but hopefully not to point where it kills entries to new players and where only mileage players can strive. In all cases, You can make it also as complex already now, the combo in some decks are very high.

@@lilhoss4reals While we appreciate complexity, we think One Piece hits a sweet spot of allowing players to interact while maintaining fairness. And at high levels of play, the decision-making can get quite complex, even if the mechanics themselves are not. All of us at the channel come from YuGiOh, which is a significantly more complex game, but allows the first turn player to steamroll their opponent by spitting out a wall of cards that have an obnoxious amount of interaction with the opponent on their own turn. There's only so much interaction you can introduce to a game before it just begins to feel like your turn isn't yours anymore. On the flipside, one card game we love is Legends of Runeterra, which we think is much closer to that sweet spot! But that game couldn't feasibly be played outside the digital medium. Our favorite physical card game is easily One Piece

@@moonbreon Yup definitely agree. Even if you can't interact much with your opponent while it's their turn, you can set up boards and use events (or even bluff events) that force your opponent to play sub-optimally or make tough decisions. I think that's a healthy level of interaction when it's not your turn.

i would definetly remove buggy & makino. buggy only searches red events, so you most likely will brick often with it while at the same time potentially trashing good cards you could have needed.

Very well said and that is the exact disclaimer for utilizing buggy in the deck. For me, he is just an easy place holder for nami until she gets taken off the banlist in a couple of weeks that can also put board pressure and maybe generate a card advantage. Switching the gatlings out for bad manners can also help minimize whiffing on the search. But again he’s a temporary selection for the 4.5 meta that’s been working pretty well

I wonder if there'll ever be a point where blue bouncing become so much of a problem where the TCG will make certain characters a sort of 'hexproof/ shroud' to counter blue bounce.

I think we are already headed towards those types of mechanics. The 7c Enel character has an ability that if he were to be “removed from the field” you can trash a life instead. So we are due to for some non-KO removal protection, only a matter of time before it’s more widely used

@@WillofDDT yes, it will be interesting. I grew up playing mtg and yugioh, mostly MTG, it's nice to have One Piece do something different with elements from them incorporated.

soooo running 4 buggy just to search 7 events total is just a bad deck build since 9 times out of 10 hes gonna brick you will just be bottom decking your cards most of the times and if he is just a body you are better or running anything else and the makino you will only be really powering up the buggy and just seems like a waste imo

Definitely great points you’re making and I agree! The buggy hill is not worth dying on as it is a very high roll pick that can come up big and take games but like you said there are better options depending on playstyle. Or even add more red events to make him less of a liability. Always fun to work out kinks!

Worst Luffy list I've ever seen, 26+ cards without counter on a 3 life leader? And then on top of that you play Sanji that loses a life to pump himself, good luck surviving like that. Not to mention a Buggy that only has 7 targets, might as well shoot yourself in the foot.
