Since I've seen so many questions about the bouillon, and a replacement for the cashew butter, I'm just gonna add this comment to help. I just made this recipe with McCormick's All-Vegetable Beef Bouillon (found in Sobeys in Canada, otherwise you should be able to find it in the soup/noodle, or herb section of your local supermarket), and vegan cream cheese, since that's what I had in the house, and it came out perfectly. UPVOTE THIS SO THE SAME TWO QUESTIONS DON'T KEEP GETTING ASKED OVER AND OVER AGAIN PLZ 😂😂😂

Kerry Moan Thanks! I have everything to make this except the cashew butter, so was trying to figure out a good alternative. Did you sub the same amount of vegan cream cheese?
@Amanda-hw3zj7 жыл бұрын
My store didn't have that Mccormick stuff or the stuff she used hahaha it has every flavor each one but not those vegan ones ughhhh I'm just gonna use veggie broth
@maddummel7 жыл бұрын
whenever a recipe calls for cream I always use sunflower seeds blended with lemon juice, oil of choice, salt and some water :) it's super easy and way more budget friendly than cashew anything :p

omg I just made this and it turned out really good! I made a few changes tho 1) I didn’t have access to the meat-free beef broth so instead I used a vegetable broth with 2 tbsp of miso paste mixed in (I used white miso and tbh I recommend a miso that isn’t too strong bc the flavors from the broth are already pretty strong) 2) I added 3-4 cloves of garlic for taste during the onion cooking step I’m personally not vegan, but I like to have plant-based meals here and there when possible, and this makes me want to have more!

This was completely amazing! I tried it at home two times and was a total success, super creamy and tasty. Since I didn't have beef flavoured veggie broth, I mixed veggie broth with soy sauce, vegan lea & perrins sauce and sherry vinegar, and that did the trick.

I made this tonight and got a weeeee bit creative. I used the dish as a way to clean out my fridge - I threw in some leftover chickpeas, red bell pepper and spinach. I also wanted to think of another ingredient to stand in for the cashew butter. I had some raw cashews in the pantry, and I did end up using some to make my own cashew butter, but cashews are expensive around here so I didn't want to use too many. But then, I looked in my fridge and had a great idea - the leftover mashed potatoes from Thanksgiving! I heated them up on my stove with some oat milk to thin out the potatoes and added it to the dish. The mix of the cashews and potatoes did add the creamy thickness it needed. Delicious!

OKAY so I made this stroganoff today and it's SO. SO. SOOOOOO GOOOOOD. It reminds me a lot of those creamy pasta dishes you'd heat up in the microwave as a side dish (it particularly reminds me of alfredo), but this is all fresh! Beef stroganoff was one of my favourites as an omni, so I'm so glad to have a vegan alternative! I've also never had brown mushrooms before and I'm hooked! I had two bowls to myself, and I've saved the rest for the next couple of days! THANK. YOU.

I made this tonight with a few tweaks and it was AMAZING. I couldn't find no beef broth or the same bouillon. There was one beefless beef boullion but I didn't like the amount of sodium. I went with mushroom broth and then I added 2 of the spices that were listed in the non beef boullion. 1/2 teaspoon chicory root and 1/2 teaspoon celery salt. Perfecto

I had this for dinner tonight. And oh my god, I had some issues. I used 16 oz of pasta, which is about a cup more than the amount of pasta called for. So then I tried to add another cup of water but that was not enough water. So I added another cup and that was WAY TOO MUCH WATER. So I really overcooked the noodles trying to reduce the water. Additionally, my mom is allergic to cashews and I was coking for her, so I used sunflower butter. But I didnt realize that I used SWEETENED sunflower butter by accident. And I also added more water, so it still wasn't creamy enough. So I ended up adding about a tablespoon of PB2, which was a TERRIBLE IDEA. Then it just tasted like peanut butter. Finally, I added a touch of arrowroot to bring everything together which was apparently the first good idea I had all night. It really helped. The pasta was OKAY, but not great. It had a peanut-y aftertaste and the noodles were way overcooked. Moral of the story- follow the recipe and youll have a great, easy, and tasty vegan dish!
