I have a rossioglossum ampliatum formally known as oncidium ampliatum and it's a species orchid I've found very easy to grow and flower....and is very temp tolerant. The flowers on this orchid are the brightest neon yellow u can possibly imagine and the bloom period can last for months.....if you can find one of these they are very worth a spot in your orchid collection

I have to say it again, yes I do like this format as it give you and us a good amount of info on each orchid. Plus you get a good look at your orchids conditions.

Good format, with info. On different plants. Can I ask, at this time of year the moss(zombi) doesn’t dry out much. However, I need to water them. Should I try to remove the moss?
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai Жыл бұрын
This is a problem with short days and low temps. Any media that hold moisture will probably stay wet too long. I'm moving away from moss (except for the mounted orchids).

This is the type of video I love the most. I need to take notes. I learn soooo much from these. Also, Roger you have done an amazing amount of work with treating scale and mildew. Your plants are looking amazing. Does anyone understand why nobile type dendrobiums need cooler temps but BRIGHTER light in the fall and winter in order to set blooms for the next spring? No matter where they evolve on the planet, wouldn't lower light always accompany the transition toward cooler temps?
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai
@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai Жыл бұрын
Deciduous forests? When the leaves fall, there is much more light and the temps drop as it's Winter.

The nitida is coming along nicely. The bulbs are much bigger than the original plant you had. Don't forget your plan to treat everything with Bug Clear in the large sprayer, there's some very mild weather due this weekend.

Nice selection y good to know about looking into pot beyond the pretty flowers when new. Ratus ratus? I had one too, walking right across the top of my rose trellis as I was looking out the window. It was going for a little seed bauble my girls had tied there for the birds. They are not native to N. America but are believed to have been brought here by ships from Europe.

Any rats around here are 'country rats' - they are clean bright-eyed creatures unlike the dirty sewer rats of the cities that carry all sorts of diseases.

I have a tall dendrobium & I have it in a hanger. This works well as the canes can be tied to the wire hanger. However you may not have a place to hang it.
