Great video, and it is so true. I come from a Mountainbike, Downhill, Motocross background. The flow state is SO important there. In any sport, really. If you´re in that flow state, everything is automatic, your mind is at ease, you don´t really think about anything. (If you have earplugs in with music like i had with mountainbiking, you don´t hear that music. You have no idea what you listened to afterwards). And everything is so easy. In iRacing, complete silence can get you there, if your mind lets it happen. Another good tip is to have a song in your mind and repeat it over and over and over again while racing. It can also detach your mind from thinking about your driving. With that i can sometimes do laps where i lose a few tenths a minute compared to setup developer times. My problem there afterwards is that i wonder "how the hell did that happen?" :D Yep, flow state, it´s important.

Great video, thanks! Having watched hundreds of sim racing videos, I can confidently say that your thoughts are very deep and useful. And not only for sim racing 😉

Today I got really angry with me for overdriving the car and not achieving the lap time that I needed mentally for me to be ready to participate in the races. It was a frustrating experience. Maybe I need to turn off the overlays again and just focus on driving and let the car do the rest.

small update: I did my PB in quali for the race and had two great results. If you think you’re not ready, just go for it and see where you end up. Not every driver is consistent every lap and so don’t worry if you are not consistently pulling out your best laps either. Just do your best and see what other drivers do differently during the race. You’ll get there

I'm definitely an over thinker and look at the gaps/blackbox guy. I'm going to take this on board from now on as it will probably help my pace in top split

This is something I am slowly understanding, when learning a track or car combo, initially closing the delta gap will require intentional inputs. But after a while I don’t make breakthrough in my personal bests when I’m trying to push the lap further. Interestingly, I set my personal bests when I just focus on driving consistent laps and I’m not actively pushing.

hi,Marian, I have learned your online course, I think you may miss a very important part. There is a lesson about tire temperature, but you didn’t detailed how to maintain optimal tire temperature, especially not using cases. I remember you have an open lesson on KZbin that about your F1 race but I think it is not that detailed, especially you didn’t give the negetive examples.

Hi, generally what you want is to use your tires while still being able to keep neutral balance - once you start understeering / oversteering while pushing to 100% and u can't keep the neutral balance, then its a good sign you're overdriving and you have to manage the tires!
