Tbh it's not only that. Ive found if I use the right amount of friction and more inirtia I can use higher ffb settings without it feeling over powered. I felt like doing this gained me grip. I've never experienced anything like it beofre but it's as if every car I drive now has more grip, turn in easier never seem to crash anymore or get overly unstable. Ive found that nice sweet spot for me. But there are very very fast people like ukog out there using much higher ffb settings. Its all about what you can handle. The real problem is most people don't know how to tunr in. They are trying to force it with the wheel instead of turning in with there brakes. If anybody reads this and doesn't understand what I mean them it just means you don't know how to turn in correctly. You shouldn't be forcing or pushing past grips or limits when turning the wheel you should use smaller turns while trail braking correclty with smaller adjustments. Having nice forces can help you feel that limit and you can sit right on that edge. Me I don't use crazy high ffb. I use 8 to 10nm. So my 23nm wheelbas is set to 70% in software but in game is also set to like 60 or 70% it's enough for me to feel everything, have insane control and not be over powered. Again though inirtia and friction were the two settings I was lacking. I used to keep them off. Turning them on changed everything for me. I truely got faster and I never thought a wheelbase setting could react that way in a sim. Like legit gave me more grip and didnt have to force any kind of turning in. Now the wheelbase feels much heavier when not in the sim with those on but once in the sim on the track and the car starts moving the wheelbase turns into just this amazingly perfect experience without being over powered. Feels flowy also like it's working with me instead of against me and its telling me every part of the limit. I can hold that edge it will tighten up at the edge of grip and just hold me there beautifully and boom snap right back into place when needed. Corrections have never been better or easier. Some people believe less ffb is faster but those usually are people using alot of the wheel and just overly turning the car. They can throw the car around and at that point imo it isn't correct. Braking matters when turning in more then anything else. And exit really matters most of all. I do agree to much is to much but there is a nice balance. Then you have people like racebeyondmatters who is very fast and truely does use like 17 to 20nm. Lol all depends on the person and what you can handle.

Interesting thoughts. I concur with pretty much everything you said. I used to hate fiction and inertia too. I’ve since been using them again and the wheel (in game, exactly as you described) did not feel worse off at all. I might experiment with it a bit more myself, I’m just using someone else’s recommended settings.

Yeah imo they are the two most underattes settings yet two most important for realistic feel. That nice redound effect like a real csr and also that almost flowy feel mixed with the extra bite when needed when needing grip and or getting grip. See friction doesnt make something more gritty it just adds to that feeking or grip and grab when you find those limits it really gives off a fantastic feeling. When I used those settings off I had no clue what I was missing. @anthcesana

I've noticed exactly the same thing. More FFB is more grip. But when I race on the Nordschleife, 4 laps and I'm game over. Can't find a perfect medium. But I drive without friction all time. Invertia I use on 2 out of 8. But doesn't it seem to you that the steering reacts more slowly with friction? It does to me. But it was almost two years ago when I experimented with friction. I will test again. 🤔

FFB I set same like you to 10Nm from a possible 20Nm on my base. 50% gain in Fanatec driver. Is perfect for every sim 👍 How much friction do you use Bro ?

SFR helps me also, especially in those heavy sweepers, otherwise the forces build up and it all just feels a little numb.

I think this highlights a problem in "Sim racing". There are those that just want to go fast on a realistic game, and, those that want to treat realistic games for the immersion and take it seriously. Of course there are people that are somewhere inbetween. 👍🏼✌🏼

I play on 10.5NM for realistic feel but it is possible to be extremely competitive but like this guy said it does get tiring especially when it comes to the Nord 😂

Well, that is where the Sim kicks in. We want it as closest as possible from reality, since we have no money to race real GT cars😂. If these guys just want to be fast and not to workout, then easier to play NFS or FH5 on controller

If you ask me, have enough FFB that is comfortable for you but you must have a define point of where the edge of the grip is (Stiffer towards the edge of Understeer)

I just ran into this issue. I'm just a few races into iracing and the ffb i was using for the mx5 felt great. then in the formula car it still felt great but when i watched a lap guide it was saying to break on kerbs that were so violent with my ffb i was losing control every time.

Im setting the FFB strengt differently for each car in Iracing as very few of the cars feels optimal at same strengt.

Ffb is so subjective.. I'm 6ft 2 275 pounds, and a gym guy, my ffb will be way different than someone smaller. I tried other youtubers settings and it felt like a g29 ( i have a semicube pro and dd1 )...imo, there is no right or wrong ffb...

I have a T300RS and use it maxed out. I drove a truck daily and a heavy FFB feels like the steering in my truck. But I am going to try toning down some FFB in certain sims to see if it helps.
@bajeebus-j2p3 ай бұрын
FFB is still in its infancy. It shouldn't be that when you turn up FFB, EVERYTHING has a ton of stiffness and friction Only appropriate moments should have hardness to them. Just turning the wheel in a low-stress situation shouldn't do that (unless you specifically want that)
@MicahAlvarezRacing3 ай бұрын
When I tired Daniel M's settings, I was like wtf is this? Now I know, lol thank you!. I cant figure out what setting I want with my Simucube 2 Pro. So for your setting do you use a profile or just leave it default then edit FFB in True Drive? I dont really know what I am doing on it yet, but what has worked for me is I find a profile and then edit the ffb strength to like 14 or 15 in True Drive and adjust the rest in iRacing. I drive too much in real life and try to not have a work out, I save those for the gym. Eventually I will get a much better understanding of the Simucube settings and be able to do what you do with them. I think I am using some Karting profile now. It's fine for now. I have other grimlins to hunt down 1st on my setup (display issue, omg triples bs). The last thing I fixed was a really bad Moza Hub issue.

Great video. One question. You said high slew rate was important but in the video you had yours set to 2.52. Very low. Can you explain
@nanoverse3 ай бұрын
Now with 360hz higher slew is better. Can catch slides better and is not too harsh when changing Recon to 2 and lowering Torque BL.
@nanoverse3 ай бұрын
Also using inertia for light wheels is a good option.
@Johnny_Thunder2 ай бұрын
Teamredline use about 0.25 slew rate. I found it smoothed out the harsh ffb and made it feel realistic less robotic. Real life wheels don't react that fast.

Hey mate I fully agree with your approach regarding ffb, if you use too much force you lose in performance. I noticed that you are using an old version of the true drive with reconstruction V1; V2 has officially been released in July and in my opinion it is much better especially with 360hz mode in iracing. There are more details of the track and you can better perceive the limit of the grip ( If with V1 you used recon at 1 with V2 you will use at 4/5)

Not sure how applicable these advice would be in single seaters. You never want to take too much curbs with these cars anyway and the extra ffb will help you deal with the extreme snappy car behaviour

Because they want to get rid of iRacing 60Hz digitalness and make the car feel like it’s on rubber tires. Now with 360hz you can go higher.

tl;dr you have to experiment yourself 4Head xD But I agree, if you know those feelings, it's better for lower FFB.

@reviewforthetube648524 күн бұрын
Title should be "stop using ffb the way it don't want you to" but hey guys don't worru I'm not the fastest sim racer but don't listen to them. Even if they have there slew rate up all the way and turn filters down and are still faster then yoy but nooop that can't be right. We have another professional driver that sets his simucube up the complete opposite of yoy difference is he's also an esports driver so he's at the hifhest competative level in sim racing also. He understands that we want everything to be as direct and fast as possible so corrections are easier. So you don't have to think and can just react. But really its all preference you can be fast with set in anyway as long as your wheelbade has some benefits and is quick enough of course you can be fast. But this is just like competative shooters. Yoy want everything with as little lag or latency and want it as quick as possible. The faster the car can tell you whata happening the better. Its not a real car it never will be so we need the extra details ans things being told because we aren't in a real car getting all of the other queues. So why would most none racers want that feeling when they can't relate what to expect from a car and rely on the skills they learned in a real car? No they need to make up for that and truely feel everything. There is a disconnect with Marad always has been with the realsitic vs sim talk. We want realsitic absolutely in the titles etc. But when competing at the highest level in sim racing we also want the extras. Turning it down mah remind you of a real race car but most of us don't sit in real race cars we don't react the same way as you or understand it 1/1 so we are different and most really do benefit from the extra. Just saying. The title shouldn't be stop doing it wrong because they aren't doing it wrong. They are doing there preference which doesn't have to be yours. Even if you are a real driver this isnt a real car. We have latency afte latency and signals after signals. Its completely different in the way the details are relayed to us. So yeah

Im constantly tinkering with my FFB. Im constantly trying different settings to find that perfect feeling. The problem is i only play ACC at the moment and their physics and tire model are broken! The term META or OP should never refer to settings and car set up! It should only ever apply to the overall performance of a vehicle. When you have "META" set ups like in ACC they are highly dependent on using similar FFB settings to those who created the set up. I currently use 50 gain in game and 50ffb on my wheel and in ACC increasing the Caster to a high level helps add weight to the wheel and the steering to be more responsive. The problem is how dangerous it gets on bumpy tracks like the Nordschlife or Oulton Park. There are times where i feel like im wrestling an alligator trying to steel on the Nordschlife or times i feel like the car is riding on bouncy balls vs tires!! Maybe Iracing is better in this aspect... However starting from scratch and learning everything combined with paying for everything seems like an expensive time consuming journey. Time i simply dont have at the moment which is why ive stuck with ACC! I just wish there was an easier way to get the proper feeling from the car without having to use hogher FFB or some weird set up. Unfortunately i doubt ACC will change with Evo coming out so Iracing msybe the only option left
