Hi Eric, I am a currently a 7 handicap at 65 years of age and thanks to this video I have at last started to gain some speed and distance simply by using the set up tips you explain here. By tilting my spine back more behind the ball I finally can hit up on it and can use the higher tee height/lead armpit position you describe, doing this also helps me feel like I manage to see the ball for longer in my downswing which helps me hit it more solidly. The tilt also seems to help me keep my head behind the ball and create a much more solid strike instead of swaying through the ball as I tended to do previously. Being close to the green sure makes it easier to score (I have always had a good short game) and I played the front nine in level par today and ended my round 3 over, outdriving my big hitting, younger brother, much to his annoyance! If I can just learn to hit my fairway woods better off the floor I may even get down to scratch at long last. Thanks again for the great content and clear explanations on how to hit it further!

Eric I love all your videos. I am 64 and am a decent golfer - 4.3 index. If I could chip I would actually be really decent :(... I have about a 97 mph swing speed, but the best AOA I have ever achieved is about -4.5. Despite that crappy number I can still carry it 225-230. After watching all your stuff along with Steve Pratt, I have been determined to fix this. I spent a lot of time on the range today tilting more, teeing it higher/forward, etc. I know from the charts that if I could fix this, I could hit it quite a bit farther. As has been the case every time I have tried this, I have hit my driver disastrously on the course - mostly horribly on the toe right or just these like 185 yard week toe hooks. If I go to some middle ground - less tilt, not so for up in my stance, etc., It's better, but I am sure I am still negative with my AOA. If I tilt enough to touch my right hand to my knee cap, I just cannot even make remotely decent contact. I am going to use my MEVO tomorrow before I play in one of our weekly Monday IN State Senior Golf Association tournament and see what it says. I know you obviously have not seen my swing, but my question is do you feel this is common at all for folks who are struggling to change their AOA? It's somewhat depressing. Thanks Tony
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tony! The short answer is that I need to see your swing on video to be able to help. It seems clear you are doing something IN SWING that is causing these issues. I would think this would NOT be that difficult to fix but again I need to see what you are actually doing to diagnose and correct. Consider joining our team at www.cogornogolf.com so you can send me your swings and I can help. At -4.5* down you are losing 20 yards of distance easily

I try to incorporate all the points you present in longer ball carry, ball forward, ball tee height, spline tilt check by touching leg knee level, but I also focus my eyes at a higher elevation down the fairway, i.e. lower clouds at a distance, to help me hit at a positive launch angle. Works for me! 👍

Another great video Eric. I agree with almost everything you guys are trying to do, except one thing. The way you achieve tilt is flawed. The fix to tilt will create a byproduct of reverse lean. The better way to get proper tilt and shoulders square, or slightly closed, is to push your hips towards the target and your right knee to bend slightly towards the target. You will promote getting to the left side better, and no issues with reverse pivot.

Great Video. I’ve tried to follow your instructions for hitting up on ball with driver. Good news: when “hitting up” swing works, I’m 20-30 yards longer - feels great. Bad news: Most shots are hooking wildly. Any ideas what I should adjust? I’m a senior golfer with 80-90 mph swing speed with outside-in swing and normally hit 180-200 yard drives with a mild fade. Thanks!

Hey Eric, I've noticed you've used Robert Rock a few times when illustrating a good driver swing. I've noticed that Robert tends to roll off his back foot, it's a little bit different look. In thinking about my own swing I think I come off my back foot too quickly which contributes the odd slice as I get a bit steep and over the top. Can you comment on Robert's rear foot action. Thanks.

@@CogornoGolf Hi Eric ... at the 9:32 mark of your #1 Driver video it looks to me like Robert kicks his trail knee in a bit more with the result that his trail foot rolls over a bit before coming up. I'm wondering if that helps him stay more down and back of the wall you're talking about. It is a subtle move. Love these videos ...I'm hoping you'll get back to in person lessons at some point.

@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 9 ай бұрын
You can hit down 6* and not hit the ground.....mainly because the ball is teed up.....6* is A LOT down but in real world terms it's only moving down ever so slightly relative to the ground to be 6*.... If ball was teed extremely low 6* down MAY hit ground

Very interesting video. So if you are teeing the ball in line with your left armpit, wouldn't that move the ball a little more forward than teeing it up on the inside of your left heel. Also I have an adjustable driver that is set at a loft of 10.5. I can set it down to 9.9. I presume that the ball would fly lower & run more? How does changing the loft affect distance, or does it?
@SwingFit
@SwingFit 3 жыл бұрын
Changing loft will affect spin more then anything else, apex will change also as a byproduct but it will likely change as a result of the spin. In regards to ball position we like using the armpit as a reference because some players like to use different widths in their stance, so the armpit becomes more of a universal position because it doesn’t matter how wide or narrow your stance is, hope this helped.
@carlor.s.4742
@carlor.s.4742 3 жыл бұрын
@@SwingFit So are you saying with less loft you will get less spin? And is less spin beneficial with the driver?
@SwingFit
@SwingFit 3 жыл бұрын
@@carlor.s.4742 yes I am saying less loft will lower spin, and it if you can maintain launch with the correct AOA, lower spin would be a good thing, no secret if you want to hit it farther high launch and low spin is a good recipe for doing so. But here is the key don’t let spin drop below 2000.
@CogornoGolf

How do you determine the right launch angle? John recommended 11-13 for your speed. I spin the ball low with my driver and I get my best distance with 16-18 degree launch angle. My club speed is 102-105 and I hit up 6-8 degrees.
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Head over to Johns channel to find out more on this or find a good club fitter to work with! Depends on a few variables!
@SwingFit
@SwingFit 3 жыл бұрын
So at your swing speed we need more launch for sure so the fact you already have a low spin option in the gear helps, but what hurts most golfers is not being able to get the AOA up to increase launch. So at 100-105 I do like 14-17launch , but here you have to be careful. to low of loft on your driver with high aoa and launch north of 17 can create the opposite affect. And the spin loft window will be too low and the curvature will be to aggressive. Hope this made since.
