The first Reddit story is absolutely horrible. People don't understand what hair can mean to people and especially to certain kids who are emotionally attached to it. At 11 years old you are just starting to be conscious of your own body and you are starting to create your own person... it would have destroyed me if my parents forced me to change anything about my appearance at that age. You are basically teaching your kids that people who have authority can do whatever they want to you without your consent. Loved the episode! You have such a wonderful voice. I'm not a hairdresser but as a hair enthusiast, I'll be tuning in to every episode anyway 😜 Sounds like Christine, the new manager you had after that horrible salon experience, knew how to actually be a manager and promote growth. Glad to see that now you are the one leveling up apprentices!!! They are really lucky to have you

I think two stars and a wish is a great idea! I actually heard you talk about this before months ago and I started doing it and it helped tremendously. Even if it was just a little tweaking that needed to be done, this is a great tool to build your skills. Of course I gradually stopped doing it lol. I'm glad I came across this video... I will be starting it again today!!! Btw... I've been doing hair for many decades. We all have room for improvement.

Im not a hairdresser, but I really love the (2 stars and 1 wish) part of your videos too much. I wish every dresser do that because Ive hav my hair done at salons multiple time and the worst part is when my hair is actually messedup yet the hairdresser (AND the salon staff) lie and say that it looks good and amazing!

The first story…oh god. A similar thing actually happened to me when I was a kid at that age. I wanted to get my hair cut to shoulder length but instead the hairdresser cut it shorter than my earlobe wich I didn’t agree to. It was the first appointment that I went to alone without my parents, so I didn’t dare to say that I didn’t like the cut. At the end I was just crying, felt extremely ugly and had no idea how to style that hair so that it would look less like a joke. I had no more self-confidence and thought I would get bullied in school because I looked so different and uncool. It just ruined the start in a new class for me and was kinda traumatising. I hope the girl can get over this quicker because happily she still has hair to her shoulder :) Great podcast btw, I’m looking forward to new episodes even though I’m not a hairdresser myself. Keep up the great work ✨

Lord!!! What a selfish, not Mother material woman!!! I don't like getting up early, I don't want to spend the time, I don't want to spend the money, I basically want her to take care of herself, is what she is saying 🤬. Girl, being a parent does NOT come with options...........you marry the man, you also marry the CHILD!!! A BURDEN ???Am I the asshole here????? YES!!!!! I would be awful at this. Too many memories of dumb school meetings. In some comedy show, a girl was fired for her southern accent. But the owner’s daughter obviously had one. The girl says, ‘how come daisy Duke here gets to keep hers?’ The lady owner says ‘really? My daddy started this business.’ The girl says 😆’oh, yer daddy did? Well ma daddy lives in the basement, that’s why I need this job!’

Regarding the salon that thought you "should just KNOW" the "right" way to do things, they are incompetent for not providing EDUCATION or reimbursement for education to employees, which should be actively encouraged and ongoing. They should also have a program where new stylists are mentored, not mocked. Trends and products are constantly changing in the hair industry -- who are these idiots who think you graduate from hair school and you're done, forever??!? If that's their attitude they need to leave the field.
