It's particularly pleasing that John Newland, when talking about a British Lieutenant, pronounces lieutenant in the English manner.

Yes I've noticed that too. The Brits and all countries of the British Commonwealth pronounce the word as "leftenant" Here in Canada, most of us like to pronounce it the American way without the "F", but the older die-hard generation are still loyal to the Crown.

The ricksha driver performed his last duty. Before I was born about 7 years earlier my father was a Lt. In neigboring Korea during the war and met a beautiful young woman for whom he wanted to marry but as fate would have it she felt drawn to do something that ended up with my father returning to america alone. He returned with not just a broken heart but as a young executive officer promoted from infantry platoon leader was awarded every medal of heroism for his duties from 4 purple hearts, 4 bronze stars for valor, silver stars , distinguished service crosses and even was put in for the Medal of Honor twice by officers within his unit and his battalion commander LTC Don Carlos Faith Jr. who died after writing a declaration statement of his heroics. In lieu of being the solo man to receive the highest award it was confered to the commander unanimously as the colonels life ended there. My dad didnt live long after he returned as the wounds he encountered were too numerous and turned to cancer throughout his body. Perhaps the woman saw that in her premonition or not his life too ended from his selfless desire to end the threat of communism as he made one last trip to Vietnam after going to Cuba during the missle crisis. No other soldier during the wsrs in asia loved the military as much as he did, and no soldier ever faught harder or was decorated more except a man who entered the military a year before him a junior officer named Maj. Audie Murphy.

@@melmazing3993 I've been told it is so we can learn. If we all knew for certain exactly what we are, that we are eternal, and that there are no wrong choices or acts (as these also help us learn) then we wouldn't have a true earthly experience. Once we die, all our memories and knowledge gathered from an eternity of incarnations and existence are returned. Then we can choose what our next experience will be.

He could have been a last minute replacement and just couldn't affect a British accent. On very low budget productions, that is not at all unknown. In the OUTER LIMITS episode THE PREMONITION, Don Gordon was suddenly not available for the lead at the last moment, so Dewey Martin was brought in and had to learn his lines minutes before camera. I was on a much bigger film in which this happened. OR maybe Geraldine Kearney's scenario, below?
