Ferrari in 2022 and 2023 had the raw pace to at least match Redbull in quali with an inferior ideology. So they are attempting to find consistency. Mercedes however need a massive mentality change. They can no longer act like they have the fastest car and develop the car and races appropriately. McLaren need to show that they can actually have pace over an entire season. Without this we can say goodbye to a title challange.

And out of respect for the founder of the team, Peter Sauber Stake and Kick are just title sponsors. Do you call Mercedes Petronas, Red Bull Oracle, Aston Martin Aramco, or Alpine BWT? No. Stake is also a gambling website. As such, that sponsor will be banned at many races in the calendar. It will be illegal to call the team "Stake" in Australia, Bahrain, China, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Japan, Qatar or even the team's factory in Switzerland. So there's no way the commentators will call the team Stake, even if that's what the team wants.

I would argue Perez while it may seem like a weakness compared to Verstappen, it is actually a strength for Red Bull. RB would not want their drivers stepping on eachother’s toes, such as maybe Hamilton or Lando would. So long as Perez is good enough for P2 and secure RB the constructors, having your secondary driver not challenging your #1 but at the same time securing necessary points is a strength.

The issue is - Perez is barely securing the necessary points. RB wants Perez to be better, not falling behind to the point of barely not securing P2. In any tighter of a fight, there would be questions if Perez being P4 or lower in Drivers' is good enough.

That is in one way valid but relies on Verstappen doing the heavy lifting which depends on the car advantage. And what Red Bull cannot control is the competitiveness of its rivals. So, having a slightly faster team mate than Perez in 2023 would be much better for Red Bull. Not a single driver would be allowed to step on Verstappen's toes anyway in that second Red Bull seat, so that would not be an issue. Remember how crucial Perez was in Verstappen's first WDC season? That's the driver they want.

Compared to Mercedes, they were by far the better team by the end of 2023. 2nd in pit stops, less strategy errors (and they just fired Rueda, who was the clown who forged the meme) , their drivers were better (Leclerc outscored both Merc drivers combined from Suzuka on) and they were better in R&D, closing the gap to Mercedes with half the upgrades. They need to work on their race pace (which they largely fixed with the spain upgrade) and their reliability (which was massively improved in 2023 over 2022) Out of the top teams (RB-AM), Ferrari is the one with the most building blocks in place. Now they just need a decent car, and so far they have proved to be the only ones capable of taking the fight to RB

If Mclaren had started the season with the MCL-60 from Austria, it would be a very different picture. Mercedes scored so many constructors points because they only had 6 non points finishes across 44 entires in 2023. Let that sink in. An 86.4% score rate. Compare that Mclaren with 17 no points finishes, so a 61% score rate. Mercedes' average scoring position was actually 5th, but they came second in the championship by scoring more often than most of their rivals, not by being faster.

I think they actually managed to score at least some points at every race. consistent 5th and 6th place finishes is a good car...but finishing top 3 consistently is a GREAT car. I mean, Mclaren managed 5 2nd place finishes compared to Mercedes' 3. And Mclaren started with an absolute DOG of a car! Merc only managed 1 second place finish after the Mclaren Austria upgrade. Ferrari had 10 no points finishes so a 77% scoring rate but only finished 3 points behind Mercedes.I think that kind of illustrates my point (77% vs 86%)

I think rather than aero, Alpine should, no, NEED to fix their engine. Catastrophic reliability, as well as bad performance compared to other mancufacturers.
