This is one of the most REALISTIC videos of a true DIYer ever! I think everyone that has dealt with something they haven’t done before like electrical or plumbing can understand that discomfort feeling you shared when you first turn on the water 🚿 and then all those crazy noises

Thanks! It was pretty stressful indeed 😂

I have done alot of plumbing with polyethylene tubing. One thing ive learned with barbed fittings is to brush some Vaseline on the barbs, and lightly torch the inside of the tube, works like magic

That’s a great tip, thanks for sharing!

It surely was stressful ! Glad it went mostly okay with no major leak or anything.

Since now, did you do thermal isolation around your hot water pipes ? The length is not that big but it still could decrease notably the losses of heat
@TheDIYCabinGuyАй бұрын
That’s a good point, I did not, hopefully they’re short enough that the loss won’t be that significant. I feel that once you turn the faucet or shower on, within a few seconds, water will be pulled directly from the water heater tank

I love that you are building the house with redundant systems, this will make it a great rental. Hopefully I will be starting my soon. Already been around $5k in permits alone

Thanks! Dang, these are expensive permits!

I guess all the air will have collected in the top of your hot water tank? It’s always scary putting water into an empty line. 😂
@TheDIYCabinGuy5 ай бұрын
Yes maybe it did! I can’t imagine what it would sound like in a full size house!
@SBecktacular5 ай бұрын
Just like you did a valve for emptying the system at the lowest point, a t valve at the highest point would’ve let all the air out
@SBecktacular5 ай бұрын
Why not put the hot water heater under the cabin and enclose it?🤔
@TheDIYCabinGuy5 ай бұрын
Sounds difficult, if I had a proper crawl space, sure, but it’s all exposed. Then would have also gotten very cold in the winter months.

One thing people don’t think about when using this new type of plumbing in their walls is that one rodent can chew through it and boom disaster. PVC and copper only.

should the expansion tank be installed with the line coming out the bottom not on its side there was one in my moms place they used to rent and it wasn't installed on its side i think it would work better installed vertical.
@TheDIYCabinGuy2 ай бұрын
I don’t think that it makes any difference, I could be wrong though
@Barret_Radtke2 ай бұрын
@TheDIYCabinGuy yeah idk. I just thought it would work better if the air creating water pressure was at the top way it is now idk.

@@TheDIYCabinGuy heres what i found on google, Dan_8 Member Posts: 56 August 2004 Does the orientation matter on a bladder type expansion tank: water side tapping up, down or sideways? Up always seemed like the right choice to me but I've seen a bunch of systems pictured here with the tapping down or sideways and it just seems to me that it would retain a big air bubble that way. Just curious... tommyoil Member Posts: 612 August 2004 no matter I try to have them standing straight up or hanging straight down. Its of no consequense though. I try to avoid sideways(although it will work just fine) in case they blow and fill w/ water. Depending on what they are hanging from it may just snap off.
@TheDIYCabinGuy2 ай бұрын
@ I dont thin it’s really air, I think it’s just the hot water expanding due to being heated into high temperatures
@Barret_Radtke2 ай бұрын
@@TheDIYCabinGuy not really anything to do with hot water is it is what gives you water pressure with out it you would be limited to the pressure coming from the line coming from your house. in fact i would almost think a water pump might be useful as well but the pressure tank might suffice for water pressure consistency.
