In Denmark, several Syrian families are living in fear of being deported to Syria, where the civil war continues. The Danish government considers Damascus and its region "safe" places and says the refugees must return there. Daham Alasaad followed one such family for this report.

I am pretty liberal, but I loathe the way in which left-wing media acts as if the Danes are at fault. They offered TEMPORARY residence to the Syrians, and are now experiencing huge problems because of it, just like most other European nations.

They are at fault allowing Mosques. As they have everything they want they will not want to return. They gave them housing and benefits and as refugees they should be grateful for that. But now they take everything for granted. Without Mosques they will be happy to return if following their faith is important to them.

Here we have a nice well integrated family, or do we? We only see the adult women from the back or only their hands when cooking, clearly they follow the sharia rules for gender segregation. The problem is that SOME immigrants and refugees is abusing the hospitality of their host countries and over time patience is wearing thin, if everyone assimilated, followed the laws and stopped claiming special privileges, there wouldn't be a problem.

This is my thought: if they have been in the nation at least 18 months and have a job and do not recieve support from the government they should be allowed to stay. All others should be given 3 months to find a job. Those who cannot are then deported back. Those who stay must complete 5 years without government assistance, unless they have some form of severe illness or need food benefit because of having multiple children. After the five years if they speak Danish and have no criminal record in Denmark they can become a citizen along with their minor children who either came to Denmark or were born in Denmark.

Problem that Denmark government don't want immigrants from Non Western Country's. They are simple found excuse to rid from immigrants that's all, it's pure discrimination. Some of these immigrants well educated studying in university fluently speak Danish, working, simple country doesn't want them because not western country, discrimination.

A former brother-in-law was a refugee from Syria. He was Christian but opposed Syria going to war with Israel. In order to prevent being drafted into the Syrian Army, he came to the US and went to School, graduating as a Mechanical Engineer. He eventually went to work for Pepperidge Farms, setting up production lines for specialty products, on of which are their well-known fancy cookies. The next time you eat one, think of him and remember that not all refugees are just trying to leech the system.

In America it’s not uncommon to find people who have lived here 20 years who can’t or won’t learn and speak english. Since there’s no law against speaking one’s native tongue, some people feel they don’t have to. They’ve come here for a better life, not to be Americans. Case in point; years ago working in a restaurant, I met someone who was born in this country, 21 years old and could not speak a word of english!

@@lizdelisle1912 - I agree that it’s a problem. The language of the U.S. is English and for politicians to pretend otherwise is pretty ridiculous. Most Spanish-speaking parents don’t want their kids to be educated in bilingual classrooms because they know that bilingual education is inferior. The problem is compounded when the barriers to integration are not just language but also religion (how to assimilate a population that believes that women should be subservient and not work at all).

And the question is WHY 3 mln of ppl are expected to accommodate 22 mln of people from the different continent for the entirety of their lives just because something bad happened? newsflash - something bad happens in most of the countries, wars, famine, tsunamis .... it's not 3 mln of Danes who should drop everything and be the world's caregiver. nor it's Scandinavia's in general. just because someone is polite it doesn't mean you should overstay your welcome.
