Thanks for coming to check out this video! If you're new to the channel, my name is Jenise and I'm a professional snowboarder. I fully tore my ACL and partially tore my meniscus while trying to make it to the 2018 Olympics. I waited seven months for surgery because I was still competing and trying to earn a spot for the games. After coming one spot away from getting an invite, I finally got an acl reconstruction using a quad graft (I had an acl rebuild using my hamstring 6 years prior.) I'm currently training for the 2022 Olympics and would love for you to subscribe to my channel to watch the rest of this journey!

Hi jenise I’m currently waiting for insurance to approve physical therapy then seeing if we are gonna need surgery I injured my acl and meniscus in September. But due to swelling it’s been a slow process to say the least I wanna say thanks for this video it gave me a glimmer of hope. This short time has been tough but seeing this video has been very inspiring to keep my head up and keep moving. 🤟🏻

I give these people a lot of credit for filming this and putting it on a video to show everybody what they went through for knee surgery because everybody more confidence so they go ahead for it especially after you tried everything and nothing helped anymore the only thing left is tell you to replace the knee or replace whatever the doctor feels is necessary for you just make sure you get the best there's a lot of doctors out there that are not really know what they're doing and it's a shame I give her five stars and wish you the best the luck for doing this and letting us know about it thank you so much ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💯👍❤️❤️🍀

I’m 4 months out in a couple days and I’m doing double leg jumping, jogging and single leg pressing 145 pounds with the surgery leg. I can’t wait to go back to soccer it’s literally killing me the fact that I can’t kick a ball rn. It was hard at first but to be honest It has not been a year and already I am feeling way better than what i did when it was torn. Everyone is different and not everyone needs it. Just look at the type of lifestyle you live. Will it impact it in any way? I was able to talk to my doctor and he helped me break down if i would need it or not. Its a tuff choice to make but I am sure whatever you decide it will go well for you :)

It sucks now because I have a full time job (luckily workin from home and on a computer) so I'm just hoping a week off will be enough and I'll be able to do all this therapy and healing while also maintaining my work schedule. I'm now 1 year post acl and meniscus reconstruction (hamstring graft) was side tracked and left hopeless with nothing after the lockdown from march-august all the gyms and physios closed and did next to no extensive training which actually let my graft and hamstring heal properly with no issues. (i'm 21 years old) Have been training ever since and returned to coaching high level alpine ski racing this past november and finally skiing at a high level again being comfortable from on all terrain from icey steep black pitches to powder filled bowls and bumps! I have a little bit of scar tissue which causes some pain for extensive single leg movements but other than that i feel confident and fantastic. 80 percent of the battle is mental but when you get through it anything feels impossible again. Good luck everyone

Terrific....you are.....I did ACL surgery on my left knee in 2011. But, it was done through patella tendon graft. The recovery process was hard and painful. It's been 12 years over, but still, I can't bend my knee while standing at my feet.. Otherwise, I can bend the knee. Since you are a skiing ⛷️ and sports person, I could see in your video that the doctor did surgery on your knee through Quadriceps graft. Kindly confirm the graft. The kind of guts and determination that you had during 1 year of rehabilitation was phenomenal and inspiring.

At only day 7 post op for my first (and hopefully only?) ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair I look at these things you're doing and can't imagine doing any of them yet, it makes me so nervous. Before the injury I rode my bicycle around 20 miles a day, danced, and my job is teaching martial arts, so I'm missing doing so many things. This video made me cry cause I can't do all these things yet but gives me hope that one day I hopefully will again. Super realistic depiction of not being able to lift one's leg on their own for a while, so thank you for that. Hoping you're still well?

I had my surgery last week and i can't wait to be able to run and jump again, I think I am going to start surfing classes as a type of therapy. Thanks for taking some of your time to make this video and sharing it, you're a BADASS on my book...!
@JeniseSpiteri5 жыл бұрын
Nice! Surfing is a little risky because theres all sorts of currents underwater that can throw you around in unpredictable ways. Lap swimming is a safer bet until like 5 months out at least if you want to be in water, or whatever your doctor recommends.

mid way through my junior year of high school and i just tore my acl. This was my 11 year of football and I’ve never had a surgery before. It came at the worst time but that’s okay life’s all about how you react to adversity. I am scheduling my surgery tomorrow hopefully to have it sometime this week. my goal is to be back to 100% in 9 months to be able to play football my senior and hopefully continue playing into college. I won’t let this injury ruin my childhood dream.

Thank you so much for making this video. I’m still first month post surgery , so far being mentally stable is the most difficult part. I play volleyball, and the hardest thing is seeing my healthy teammates losing their motivation to play, while I have to wait for months and work a lot harder than before in order to get back in court. I keep thinking maybe 9 months later I would have lost my teammates, and that frustrates me. I love this sport, I will do whatever I can to be able to play again. I just want to know if anyone ever felt the same, it is just very hard sometimes.

I went through the surgery and the same feeling too .. important part is within few months you will be fine and start doing what u love rather than just watching.. stay positive.. as time will pass you will feel stronger and healthier.. physiotherapy is the key and keep smiling.. theres a beauty at the end of this journey

i've skateboarded my whole life. tore my acl a month ago at the skatepark. was heartbroken. i am 11 days post-op. i just have to say, i have never felt as deep terror and fright as i did watching you skate with a post-op knee brace on. BUT your sheer lack of fucks given is inspiring. thank you.

Hi i got my fracture 1st of may this year and had surgery on 12 of may. it was open compound patela fracture. they used metal wire to joined the knee cap which they gonna remove aftar 8 to 10 months. I lost my weight about 25 pounds in just first 20 days of accident. but when i get back home i was careful about my diet and added few pounds in my body. but my right leg(fractured patela) its very skinny and very soft now as there are no muscles in it. i will Appreciate if you share details about yours too.

I had ACL and meniscus surgery in 2016 and I think this video is amazing cause when I got this done I didn’t understand why my knee was in so much pain and why I wasn’t able to move as well as I used to. It’s nice to see that I wasn’t the only one so thank you for posting this
