a fair few of you have asked me to do a cleaning the Ninja vlog, which to be honest I was dreading as had not looked at the region around the elements slightly on purpose.
I do the usual Basket mainentance and have found after 1 year of hand washing, they are still in very good condition. There is wear on the outside, especially on the protuding bits on the underside but this is normal after one year, and doesn't affect cooking. The inside of the baskets are fine, Basket 1 does have baked on fat that I can only remove probably 65%, I've not found anything so far that removes it 100%. If you have a guaranteed 100% method - let me know!
One thing I do know, is Ninja say do not clean the elements themselves and cleaning around them is a bit tricky. I've decided to do a monthly hot damp cloth wipe down of this area to remove any loose bits (tbf I didn't see any when doing this cleaning vlog)
Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching....

Hi Kerry, love watching your channel. I think it's up to the airfryer manufacturers to help us all with this cleaning problem , perhaps they could fit them with hinge up or unplug elements . I usually clean mine with some stuff called Elbow Grease it's a lemon based spray on cleaner available in some super markets and Amazon. I never use any abrasives or caustic based substances. Best wishes Brian.

Great video. Another wee strategy is to soak the pans in hot water with a denture tab for 2-3 hours and then simply wipe off the grime. Works like a treat, especially if you have a coated drip tray - simply soak the drip tray the same way and again it will come up like brand new. Hope this assists.

Hi Kerry, you've done a good job, it's impossible to get it all off. I've had mine about five months now. The dual blaze baskets have stayed spotless. When I've finished cooking, i soak them in hot water with fairy liquid in, i mainly just have enough water to cover the crisper tray, then I use mr muscle and cif to clean the drawer out. I usually spray some mr muscle in a cloth and wipe round inside, also cleaning round the element and i also clean the element a bit as well. I've not tipped it upside down yet so i don't know how bad it is.

When I first turned my ninja dual over it was quite dirty so I gave it a good clean, as best I could with it being so awkward. Since then after each use and with it standing upright and, of course, cooled and unplugged, I just use a warm wrung out cloth to wipe around the areas like you was, and around the slots where the baskets slide in (they can get quite dirty depending on what has been cooked) and I gently wipe the exposed surface of the elements, it really only takes 2 minutes and it has kept it so much cleaner. If my baskets have a bit of burnt on food I use my scrub daddy with some astonish oven cleaner or bar keepers friend and it comes right off. Oh, I also wipe around the air holes that run around the top as I found they got quite dirty too. ❤

Like everyone who has posted a video on cleaning an air fryer says, it's impossible to get the element area completely clean and most of them use methods and solutions like yourself Kerry,as long as you get as much off as possible,Kathy from Empowered Cooks puts a dish in the drawer with vinegar water and lemon juice and runs it for a little while like you did, and then she uses a paste made from baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and rubs it on with a tooth brush or sponge, she then wipes it all away with a damp cloth,it's an American Mum air fryer channel but she's very good, very good informative video Kerry

When on Sync, If veg in drawer 2 is done and I want to switch it off and LEAVE drawer 1 still cooking its final 10 mins, how do I switch that one draw off. There must be a way, without having to stop both drawers and start the drawer 1 again. I tried the off button but did not work.

Of all the features they are constantly adding to these things you would think someone in R&D would come up with either removable elements or some way to remove the shielding above the element for cleaning.

Hi Kerry, I use something called ovenmate from Amazon. I used to use it on the conventional oven, so I thought j would try it on Ninja. You just put it on leave it for a few hours, I left it overnight , then its just a matter of wiping the gunge away. I before I start, i put bi carb in and a little washing up liquid, and fill 3 quarters full with water, and put it on the roast setting to loosen up the burnt on grease. It is awkward getting round the element, but you can heat and bend a toothbrush to access it easier. I actually use a pet toothbrush, which is longer and has a smaller head. Hope this may help someone 😊

I agree with commenter below. You'd think the manufacturers would have developed a removable element and fan so that they can be cleaned with confidence. I've already broke one Cosori air fryer (Cosori 3.5l. First one I ever had). Cleaned around the element thoroughly. When I tried it afterwards, I put the fryer on pre heat for five minutes. Upon removal the basket was cold (fan worked alright) so I knew I'd damaged the element. Had to buy another one (Cosori 5.5l), which I'm still using plus a Cosori dual blaze to boot.

Put a cup of cloudy ammonia in one side and a small bowl of boiling water in the other into a preheated oven. close the drawes and leave overnight. This works really well in my big oven, loosens all that grease build up. also Never use your spray oil in can while food in the baskets, put in a bowl and transfer. The propellent in the cans carbonizes on the sides.

Perhaps turn it upside down on a towel as not to scratch the top of the lid I don’t know if perhaps the elements can be removed to clean under them? You can buy a tin of compress air to blow out dust around the top. Also I clean my draws with dawn power wash just spray on and wipe off no scrubbing.

Thank you for this video, it really helped me. However, during the cleaning process I found an easier way to clean the unit. Remove the front phillip screw from the heating coil, pull up the heating coil slowly and at the same time unhook it from the back clip. Note, DO NOT completely remove the Coil or back clip Both Coils are connected to each other so clean one side at a time and put it back together before cleaning the other side Use a #10 Socket Wrench to Remove the fan. Turn the nut clockwise to remove nut, lock washer and flat washer. I also used a small steel brush the size of a toothbrush and plumbing sandpaper that comes in a small roll. And a wet towel. It took a while but finally got it cleaned. Roger from Dallas, Texas USA

Kerry butlers empire once were showing how to clean a nina dual basket as theirs is similar to yours only theirs is the af400 if you look on theirs it might give you some ideas, but one part involves them melting a toothbrush with like a lighter to make it bend into a certain position for him to get it into the part inside near the elements onto the metal part surrounding it,he holds a lighter under the toothbrush for him to turn it inside out so he can fit the toothbrush in the otherway, have a watch of kerry it might be of some help to you.

I don't honestly think there's an air fryer out there that's easy to clean. My Breville air fryer oben has a wire mesh grid which completely covers the element so it's impossible to get to it. The internal trays are dishwasher friendly and a damp cloth does the inner walls. It's just the element that's not good.

To clean the heating element area I decided to dismantle the machine completely to get at that area. It requires removing several screws and snap together fittings. Once apart though when the upper heater housing is removed, it reveals the plastic connecting flange oozing with grease and grime. It's a scary reveal. My solution was to throw the whole machine in the bin! Any cooking device that isn't built to be easily and thoroughly cleaned isn't safe to use. I have pictures of the horror that lurks inside these machines but unfortunately can't share them here. So in short this machine is ultimately uncleanable and should be disposed of.

The Af300 has virtually no room at all around the elements impossible I'd say... I try to wipe it out when it's gone virtually cold but tbh it's an impossible task no room at all even for a matchstick! It should be easier than this yes the element should un clip so it can come down to reveal the area needing to be degunked....! I blame the manufactures about time they did something for all the money they make..... What they want of course is for us to say OK it's too bad to use anymore and buy and new one 😢 all about money not the customer.

While I cannot agree with you with regards to disaster, i would say that any machine that heats or cooks has an element of risk (toasters for example have been known to spontaneously combust if not kept clean and free of toast debris) the same applies to airfryers, hence the need to keep clean and practice safe cooking methods.
