After an Allegiant Airline employee forgot to add a carry-on piece of luggage to my ticket, I decided to use the mistaken luggage restriction as an opportunity to pack in just a personal item. Yes, I could have added a bag to my ticket for about $75 total, but I wondered if I could find a durable, functional piece of rolling luggage that would fit the bill of the maximum personal item size allowed my Allegiant. As it turns out, what I spent on the luggage piece in this video is about that same cost.
I am using my ExOfficio #travelvest to hold my water bottle, in flight necessities, and my toiletries (as well as my mini #planner set up).

The luggage piece I’m packing is from Amazon. It is called #zomfelt. I also ordered two RUCYEN bags of similar design and price point, but the zipper broke on one of them and the other was very shoddily made. I do not recommend that brand at all. So far, after multiple and fairly rigorous packing and unpacking sessions preparing for the video, the Zomfelt brand does seem sturdy. I will report back after my trip-as that will be the real test!

Nice...actually, you can do this for 2 weeks in Europe...i have done it and I'm a designer and like to look cute. The trick is layering, merino wool and black which always looks dressier. I wear my one pair of shoes, a pair of classic black Blundstone boots, because you can walk days in them, hike in them and they stay dry in the rain. I carry a packable Patagonia micro puff jacket and a Patagonia rain jacket so they can be worn independently or together. I have 2 tanks that I wear under one of two long sleeve merino wool tops (different necklines) and I have a cashmere sweater if I want something dressier. I wear heavier black travel leggings and take black jeans. A few undies/bras and Pacas (Alpaca) compression socks wash/dry easily. I have a Longchamp packable backpack (got on a great sale) which is dressier and a dressier fanny pack...all can easily fit into the backpack. I carry as many dry items as possible and cut soap/shampoo bars in half (I can also use hotel items). I pack my toothpaste in a tiny container...just enough for 2 weeks. I take minimal makeup and skincare but enough to look good. If it's a work trip, I add a black blazer and white button down. When I'm traveling, only my travel companions see me for more than one day in a row and they don't comment as it's hard to tell with all black. All animal items are from ethically sourced companies and the natural fibers are pricier but with care, last forever. I know all black isn't for everybody but it's a great way to travel and a few very thin scarfs or cute jewelry can make all of the difference. Great to only have the backpack for cobblestone streets such as in Italy. Happy travels.

I appreciate you kitchen discussion. I'm on a special diet (low protein) and domestically prep all my food. I will be staying with someone in there home (Airbnb) and can cook, BUT...I like the cutting board idea especially. I will be bringing a travel scale for sure, so I can keep weighing my food...And, the icebag is GENIUS to keep food cool, as I would want to do on day trips from my base! I see the Travel Pro with wheels has an underseat model as well. I AM going for a month, so let's see what shapes up!

I have celiac and have high anxiety when I travel. I’m definitely an over packer even to Europe. I have to bring a lot of food with me depending on what grocery stores are nearby. And I can’t eat in airports or on the plane because of cross contamination even in first class. Don’t trust they know what to do:)

Great video with lots of new packing ideas I haven’t seen in other packing videos before. Can you provide info on your kettle? I like to travel with one. Have 2 different styles that have been ok but like the size and design of yours.

I would like to see what you carry for your planner system and how it is set up. Love me an age appropriate planner - IFYKYK -lol. Love your clothing selections - again, age appropriate for a height challenged (haha) larger busted female. I love watching these, but get exhausted watching small chested women telling me not to wear bras (NOT an option) or just wear bralettes (NOT an option). Plus I will continue to wear primarily black until they make something darker - haha. Thank you for the video.

Great video. The dimensions listed are 20 in by 14 in by 8 in. How does this fit under the seat as a personal item when the max length is 18 in for most airlines?

That was really interesting! Especially the kitchen items, which I wasn’t expecting. I usually do personal item travel as well, but with a backpack, so weight is important to me. I’m curious! Did you have a weight on your bag?
