It's funny to think back 30+ years ago we sparred in a circle in Karate and very often I would just twist my hips and my opponent would just jump backwards not realizing they've just left the circle because they were scared of my kicks, work smart and not hard! lol

That ladies and gentlemen, was the demonstration of why BJJ don't work in real life, if the opponent just doesn't want to go on the ground with you and just smash you with kicks if you stay on the ground. And in real life, YOU DON'T WANT to go on the ground. If you want to do MMA for a sportive perspective, yes BJJ can be good and useful, if you want to learn how to fight to survive the streets, forget about BJJ, just learn the basics of it to escape it quickly and then stick to an efficient and time-proven art like muay thai, kickboxing, kudo or something like that.
