breaking down a fight like this just shows to casual viewers how insanely technical grappling is. A lot of people (me included) look at grappling and just see two guys rolling around, only realising someone's victory at the final moment. And that would probably change the way he closes the distance. If he was scared of your striking he would probably make mistakes. Exactly what happened here where you were scared of his takedowns.

Always like watching your channel! It’s honestly pretty difficult to have light striking against full on grappling. Really great to watch. One thing it reminds you is how hard it is to definitively "win" in sparring if its striking v grappling. Apart from the obvious difficulty in dealing with grapplers the only way a striker can "win" definitely is with a knockout. Therefore, as hitting that hard is not allowed but submissions are then its easier for a grappler to get a submission even when they've taken a lot of shots that may arguably have had detrimental effects if they were thrown in ernest e.g. the round house to the head that landed clean early on. Great to see a BJJ blackbelt that can really strike as well.

Amazing work from both you guys. I felt that strikers "what do i have to do" vibes when dealing with a super skilled grappler haha

Awesome collaboration! This was a great example of respectful but very productive sparring. People that escalate sparring to a brawl are self conscious about something and it’s definitely in their pants. This was also a great example why MMA fighters all learn BJJ. People that say I’ll never get taken down because I’m too this or too that are delusional. A good grappler will take you down.

I enjoyed watching this, I'm a assistant Jiu-Jitsu instructor/practitioner. I started MMA back in 2014 but didn't last.. Took me 3 ish years to get back into Jiu-Jitsu at another club, been there since 2017, and have stayed ever since, I miss the sparring, even though that's why I quit, scared the crap out of me, but a part of me really liked it. Great job fella's!

You are two gentlemen testing and learning in the process, I'm not a practitioner myself but I really enjoyed this video, thank you very much for you both to be so elegant.

Bro, your channel is great and very helpful for young martial artists like myself, I like you breakdown every move and even when you fail, you showed what it should have looked like, very informative, great job

Awesome video. Really great commentary, and cool to see what some of your failed attempts were meant to look like. Would love to see more sparring videos like this!

I like the honest assessment in the beginning. Yes, size and strength definitely matter. Especially if you add good cardio and black belt level skills.

Nice sparring, it was dope to see some high level striking against some high level grappling. You could really see that Jordan really didn't want to contend with you in striking just as much as you didn't want to contend with him in grappling. Both playing to their strengths and using this as a learning experience to see what they need to work on which is the whole point of sparring in the first place. Plus I'm definitely going to try to implement some of your setups when working on my striking.

Love this video it's awesome especially how your explaining everything from your viewpoint which isn't easy when your backing up and trying to gain a better advantage point. Goes to show how much more work is needed against a bigger and heavier opponent especially when they have experience to back it up
