In all the Rika fights I've seen she has shown the same level of stand up, takes way too much punishment and just holds her hands up in place way above her head, her coaches should be ashamed how long shes been fighting with this level of stand up

Not an expert, but I seem to see a pattern : less known fighters aim to beat Ishige, who is a star in MMA. I wish Ishige would always win, but she does not have the upper arm power of her opponents (she is excellent at dodging and is surprisingly powerful on the ground). Mind you, it was a long fight, which means Ishige lasted really long against many strong blows.

naga spear I think it’s because under One’s definition of Atomweight (less than 52kg), a lot of fighters, including Rika, have a huge disadvantage because they are indeed so tiny. It’s like having being a 9 year old in an under 12’s competition. No matter how good you are, you are still at a distinct disadvantage. One should definitely look into creating a lighter weight class for the women, especially because there are so many tiny women wanting to compete.

Is it just me or does Rika look thinner here than in the previous fights? Less leg muscle. Also, i know this sounds brutal, but i almost feel like she would benefit greatly from some "taking jabs" training. Like, literally have her sparring partner just continually punch her face, and train her to "take it" while keeping the eyes open. Because thats her greatest weakness, she's so afraid to get hit that she just loses all control after the first impact on her face. She gotta learn to just toughen through it and keep those eyes upen, fight the instinct to flee.

Rika is an incomplete fighter and unlikely to improve at her age. The really tough fighters can keep her from grappling, so her opponents will need to be hand picked in the future. That is if she wants to stay a sport where she has reached her ceiling.
