If you drilled a larger hole in your spoil board for your screws ( I call this a clearance hole . It allows clearance for the threads of the screw so they don’t actually tap in to the item you want to fix down) you would have been able to screw your spoil board down better

ENTER. I am obsessed with the Onefinity CNC and am saving up to order one as soon as I can. I like your upgrades so far. I think for me, the best features besides the extra rigidity is that you can run it from a thumb drive versus others requiring a computer to be connected and the additional cutting area that Journeyman has to offer.
@EigenDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom! I share your obsession. It's an amazing CNC. Another great thing about the OneFinity is that you can actually send files to it over the WiFi network, so you don't even have to use a thumb drive if you don't want to. Typically I will complete my designs in my office and then just send it to the CNC control unit through WiFi and then begin cutting. It's incredible. Also, I have entered you into the giveaway.

Enter. Why did you use a 90 instead of a 45. 1. They say you should not use 90s as it restricts flow. 2. It looks like the angle to the pipe would have been more of a straight shot. Thanks
@EigenDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hey Josh, that's a really good question. In short, I intentionally opted for aesthetics over functionality with the 4" run to my CNC. I chose 90s for the CNC run because I thought it would look better than using a 45 and having the duct run cut across the room. Now, for the main trunk line that feeds my big equipment (e.g. planer, jointer, tablesaw) I have used 45s over 90s where possible. For that ducting run I was much more concerned with minimizing losses, whereas the CNC run I didn't mind because my 3HP dust collector is wayyyy overkill for my machine. Really good question, but there was thought put into it before selecting the 90s. Also, I have entered you into the giveaway :)

Love your videos and your work! One question, how much sound dampening do you get with your enclosure? Thanks Chris.
@EigenDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris. The sound dampening for the router is actually pretty good. I would guess it blocks out ~50-75% of the sound. However, the dust collector is what makes most noise in my shop and that is not at all dampened by the enclosure.
@jeremygreer872 жыл бұрын
Awesome....that dust collection system looks like it could eat a small car! I know this wasn't much about bits, HOWEVER, do you find the extra $20 for a WS resurfacing bit is worth it? Dig the stuff you put out....keep on keepin' on.
@EigenDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy. My general experience towards CNC bits is that you get what you pay for. I have tried buying the cheap chinese bits for my CNC work and I find that they don't last very long and end up leaving more burn marks when compared to the higher end bits. The whiteside surfacing bit was actually purchased after I tried a cheap surfacing on that left black burn marks on my spoil board. So for me, there's no question its worth it. Also, I bought a nice Amana set for my general routing work about 8 months ago and I am still using them. I haven't had to replace them yet. Thanks for the support bud. I really appreciate it.

Do you have plans for the enclosure and the bench it sits on?
@hv1461 Жыл бұрын
Those are some great upgrades. What do you think about putting on an 80mm collar, which allows more Z axis movement. There's a KZbin showing how it clears the stepper motor and gives you about 2 more inches of dimensional movement. I though you might have an opinion about this. Thanks.
@EigenDesigns Жыл бұрын
I think it largely depends on the kind of CNC work you do. If you do a lot of projects with thick stock and need the extra Z axis movement, it’s something to consider. I haven’t ever needed that capacity for the projects I do so it wouldn’t be something I would upgrade personally.
@hv1461 Жыл бұрын
@@EigenDesigns Makes sense. Thanks. What do you think of the QCW add on ? I notice a lot of KZbinrs don't have them. You don't either so you must not have thought it was worth it ? Still, Onefinity charges a lot for that unit so I'm trying to figure what is the value - is it just for additional stiffness and why would you need that I wonder. Or is it just for convenience in in swapping in new wasteboard - although it doesn't seem to me that it adds all that much more convenience. I'm getting ready to make the big purchase so I'm really trying to figure out what I need and don't need. Thanks again.
@EigenDesigns Жыл бұрын
@@hv1461 The designers at OneFinity originally designed their system to be transportable and mobile so that users could disassessmble and reassemble with relative ease. For someone traveling with their OneFinity I could see how the QCW frame could be useful. For a hobbyist woodworker like me who will only ever use it in my shop, I decided to build a table dedicated to it and never take it apart. I hope this helps. If you're like me and don't plan on moving it, I would make something rigid out of lumber + ply yourself. Cheers, Mark

@EigenDesigns2 жыл бұрын
It's been a significant change Mike. When I surfaced my spoilboard that was almost no dust or shavings left behind. Now, this 4" upgrade was coupled with a dust collector upgrade so I can't really say what portion of the upgrade came from the 4" vs 2.5" line upgrade and how much has come from the newer dust collector. The two changes in combination have been a sunstantial upgrade though. I have entered you into the giveaway :)

@EigenDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ormond, this is just the standard 4" dust collection hose from Rockler. They use the DustRight brand, but its a Rockler product. Here is a 2ft version on Amazon: amzn.to/3v7DPgB
