Thank-you. I built a from scratch CNC machine without having a clue and now I am learning how to use it, still without a clue. Your tutorial made things a whole lot easier and my learning curve feels a lot less like it requires crampons!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! As total Noob to CAM, this helped out alot. I started working in the surfacing setup before I got to the end of your video. I have a QCW from Onefinity with the T-Slots built in. So, I need to do the surfacing gcode that accounts for cleaning up the scalps that are left from the initial passes. But your information helped, So Soo Much!!
@DesignBuildTDE
@DesignBuildTDE 2 жыл бұрын
Be interested to know about that QCW as I have one for my new table, I was curious how you would surface the whole thing as its bigger than the cutting area?
@kevinschilling6813
@kevinschilling6813 2 жыл бұрын
@@DesignBuildTDE So with the QCW, only the machine working area can be surfaced, not the whole top. A surfacing bit will do over the 32.250 X 32.250 (819.15 X 819.15). The issue I had was that all the examples for surfacing are for the Onefinity being set up on a flat table with a spoil board affixed to the top of that. That situation doesn't work with the QCW as the top "is" the spoil/waste board. And all the examples are not concerned with the scallops that will be left because the surfacing bit turn around is off their spoil/waste board. There was one other person I found on here that tried to deal with this situation, but jumped over the steps he took to mod the g-code he wrote.. So, in fusion 360 you have to think outside the box. Now, this was my first CAM/G-Code development. And I probably went about it all all wrong. But I use fusion 360 all the time for my 3D printer designs but not CNC work. But your information was really easy to follow. I basically had to do my design as two modeled shapes. Like a frame around a picture. Both surfaces to be surfaced on the same plane. But it is very important that do NOT touch as fusion can not locate the offset location you need to do the outer edges of your QCW work area. I had to do two Setups. The first Setup was a Trace operation for the perimeter (the Picture Frame 815.975 X 815.975 X 15.875) this only needs to be like 5mm thick. It is only something used to work out the perimeter operation. The second Setup is a Face operation for the field (the Picture in the frame 752.50 X 752.50) I made this the thickness of my MDF 19.05 (a full 3/4"). My surfacing bit is 1-1/4" (31.75) wide. The width for the model for the Trace operation is made half the bit width of 5/8" (15.875). This is also the gap between the Face and Trace models. The model for the Face operation is obviously smaller but I made sure to square off the tool path to insure it did not get to close to the outer edge of the defined work area. I made a handful of mistakes.. The two major mistakes were the Trace operation went well, but when I did the field operation I didn't account for the tool lead-in movement and it took a little bit out of the outer edge of the defined trace operation. Then I needed to do more of a step over for the Face operation. I new to the CAM side of fusion but I wish fusion reflected what was done in a prior setup when you simulate the next setup.. This would have shown me I had an operation that impacted the prior operation.. Sorry for the long reply. But I hope it helps you do the waste board on your QCW.

Best tutorial here on YT for who like me is trying to get started with Fusion. Thanks and well done! I just had an issue that couldn't solve, when using the bore function, the path show of the bit from bottom to top (and will therefore not work. No way to find a solution for it, so thread function and with this, the pattern is top to bottom. Any idea of the reason?

Thank you for this great explaining video. I am able to follow all your steps, but I get the stop with the machine parameters. I have a MPCNC with the Makita Spindle and the parameters are not accepted. In the menues, I see some 5000 rpm and the you say that you set the spindle to 16000 rpm. Am I here missing something? I am also not able to find your postprocessor which may be the main problem. I treid to use the Autocad XYZ. Any help appreciated. The second thing is that I switched PCs and all my Toolslibrary is gone. I searched the old cmoputer, but I am not able to find the file(s)
@DesignBuildTDE
@DesignBuildTDE 9 ай бұрын
The post processor directly relates to your CNC machine, you will need to find the post processor for MPCNC and add that to fusion, my spindle speed isn't important, it's not part of the set up, you'll just set your makita to what ever the recommended speed is for the cutter you use, I'm not sure about the other items you're stuck with, but you will have a different table size so you'll need to program it differently to mine, your spoil board will have to be the size of the cutting area for your machine, good luck

Thanks for the great tutorial. Huge help, and you saved me (and probably lots of others) days of figuring this out the hard way. One thing you didn't mention in the video and that I can't find info on is how after you switched to manufacture and selected the generic autodesk 3 axis machine, you had the Onefinity cps post option. How did you load that? There don't seem to be any drivers for the Onefinity. Would really appreciate you pointing me (and anyone else wondering this) in the right direction.

By far your tutorial is one of the best so a Big Thank-You. I see the threaded inserts you have chosen requires a 7mm hole size. Am I right to think the bolt size for the clamp you will be using is an M6?

Mine are 15mm, but I also laminate two layers of 18mm MDF so there is a deeper table, it lasts longer when you resurface,
@MP-mu1kw

@@DesignBuildTDE As mine is a single layer of 18mm, I will get the13mm inserts which will give me the ability to resurface 3-4 times. Is it okay if I was to get the unflanged inserts types or since this is a cnc spoilboard use it is better to have a flanged ?

Great tutorial! A little confused why you're surfacing the other side? I thought the inserts will be facing up so why not just surface the same side? Also why add the .2mm? Why not surface the board .2mm down from the top of the board? Thanks again!
@DesignBuildTDE
@DesignBuildTDE 6 ай бұрын
You put the inserts underneath so you can surface the board repeatedly over a period of months to refresh the board, if your inserts are in the top you'll break the tool and won't be able to surface, You add 0.2mm to the stock to be able to surface, if you don't add material as stock you're not telling the machine to cut or remove any stock, you have to make the computer think there is extra material or it will run the cutter over the surface and not remove anything. Inserts always go underneath

what is the thought behind doing the insert holes before doing the facing?
@DesignBuildTDE
@DesignBuildTDE 2 жыл бұрын
Facing has to be done last becuase the insert holes are done on the opposite side of the board, unless you are using front winding inserts, if you mov the board after facing then you kinda have to face it again,

Out of 99 holes I get 47 collisions because on some random holes the Center is done first and then the countersink. Is there any reason for this?
