Are you Kosher? Is Kosher what we eat? Should I mix milk and meat? What about bacon!?! We continue our series on the Spirit of the Law with what God is trying to teach us with the Kosher or Clean/Unclean commandments. Every commandment from God has a meaning, a precept to learn from, a parable teaching deeper things, and foreshadowing our Messiah's work. So what did God intend to teach us through the dietary laws, and what have we made of it today?
Just as a disclaimer!! This podcast is NOT about is it ok to eat Bacon or Shrimp!!!
Remember Roman's 14 and Colossians 2:16 as you guys comment! ; )

''you shall not cook a goat in it's mother milk'' (Exodus 23:19, 34:26, Deuteronomy 14:21).
The rabbis interpreted this to mean you can not eat or cook any meat together with dairy (b. Talmud, Chulin 115b).
Abraham gives his guests meat and milk to eat (Genesis 18:8).
The Talmud says Abraham kept Kosher and in fact, kept the Oral Law (b. Talmud, Yoma 28b).
So the Midrash says Abraham guests did not actually ate, but were pretending to eat (Midrash 'BeReshit Raba').
The Bible give at least two more examples of Jew eating meat and dairy together (Deuteronomy 32:14 and 2 Sam. 17:29).
Bible scholars, Prof. Moshe Kasutto and Chaim Ginsberg, explain that in context, the 3 verses from Torah that speak about cooking a calf in his mother's milk, has nothing to do with eating kosher, but speak specifically about pagan ways of sacrifices. Their books (in Hebrew): משה קאסוטו, 1951, "האלה ענת", עמוד 9. בספר "כתבי אוגרית" (1936) מאת חיים גינזברג

To be able to hear about the differences between The Old Testament and Talmud is so interesting because this is an in-depth study that edifies everybody. Pastors from here don't ever mention The Bible verses you guys bring up. Kosher hearts, Amen faith family!

We had the same conclusion when we went through Leviticus in our study group. God was really introducing set-apartness for His people. A theme that runs through the whole bible. In Ancient Near East this was tailored for a people in a specific time, specific culture, in a specific context. The wisdom and principles of the Torah is quite amazing. Sometimes I think that us, Christians, have an unhealthy animosity towards the law(Torah). Gladly there are plenty of Christian scholars who see the wisdom available in the Torah for Christians today and have written wonderful books on the subject.

Hi. Danny from Tx here... I just want to say, from the most sincere part of my heart, Thank You. I've had a great deal of trauma in my life, and so much betrayal, and church hurt, alienation, that at least one friend has expressed that it's "incomprehensible". I don't know you guys personally, but, there's such a sweetness to you guys, to this ministry, it honestly, for a moment, just a brief moment, reminded me of the simplicity and goodness I once knew in my now deceased mom and grandparents. I saw the photo of the man speaking, I thought, "wow, I could picture him, like, having dinner and coffee with my parents and grandparents, having dessert, and playing bridge, like they used to"-- that may not mean much to anyone here, it may sound even strange. To me, my grandparents and mom were so incredibly kind and down to earth, so human, so relatable, so very, very kind: for a moment, just listening to the simple goodness and love you guys have for God, and people, in such honest, simple, real terms, just listening, it was like a veil was lifted: no sense of "Jew" or "Gentile", just a brief glimpse of heaven- family. I don't know how else to express it than that, and I don't sense a lot of that even from "church"-- I don't know how to say it, but "Thank You", thank you for reminding me of everything that is real and good. You have blessed me tonight. Very best to you PS My mom was the best Christian I ever knew, and her testimony "sealed the deal" for her parents, my grandparents (who were both raised "religious", with many trappings of religious (Catholic)/ cult (Christian Science)abuse, but who also were sincere people of conscience their whole lives as far as I know, such that when my mom died, the pastor's wife from our church, after meeting them, said clearly: "They're the best people I ever met!" We all knew where mom was after she "fell asleep", no doubt, whatsoever. Her mother, father, and sister all committed themselves to J-sus and did not look back. (Ps I believe completely in J-sus, have had many miracles happen, even though I've had a lengthy, difficult situation. He is Completely Good, and Is Who He Says He Is)-- Thank you for reminding me of what "family" is like. Bless you---Sincerely, Danny

Okay, so we are not supposed to COOK the kid in it's mother's milk. Being a pagan, and a heartless and cruel practice, it's completely understandable. So how is it that Kosher rules make it so you can't eat cheese with the meat? It doesn't! If we cook the hamburger on the grill and put a slice of cheese (which isn't the milk in its natural state) on the bun, how does that equate to cooking, or seething the meat in the milk. And how about cooking beef, but using goat cheese? Those aren't the same animal products, so that should for sure be fine with the Torah, and since it is His words, with Ha'Shem. Another question I have is this, aren't some of the ordinances of the Torah established for the Hebrews while they were in the wilderness, without refrigeration and porcelain or glass plates? Stoneware is porous and certain animal foods are juicy, even after you hang them out to be drained of all blood, and those juices would be absorbed by the stoneware, and without hot water and dish detergent would begin to feed bacteria. Isn't that the reason for some of the food ordinances in Leviticus? I believe that the meat and milk thing is going too far! Furthermore, I don't equate the Torah and the Talmud. Personally I believe that the Talmud is Babylonian witchcraft.

Isn't the deeper point, that the milk represents the love/kindness/gentleness/care of the mother for her child, and the goat (child) being boiled in the milk of it's mother, essentially, represents the love of the mother killing her own child... only to say, if you apply the 3 readings in Exodus and Deuteronomy, it is telling us to respect the deeper meaning... it is wrong to apply a mother's love in a way that produces evil. Not to mention the valley of Hinnom, but et me think to today's modern world, isn't this speaking of (for example) the act of abortion? Or more generally, any act of using a mother's love and twisting it to do evil. It is a metaphor, it is a truth, it is creating a habit that teaches a basic principle -- a mother's love is precious -- remember this, and do not violate it. Justice and mercy.

Shalom. My name is Sarah. I grew up knowing I was Jewish and I hope you read the whole comment because it may help you. We didn't eat Kosher but we're told all the time, Never Forget, your a Jew. We didn't keep any of the feasts either. We never celebrated any pagan festivals though either. I never even had a birthday till I was like 12 when I went to live with my best friend. I got married we both got in touch with our Jewish Roots and got kosher. Only outwardly though. So this podcast is where the Lord has been taking me because I got confused and thought well if there's no difference between gentile and Jew and God is good to all then why am I keeping Kosher for. This was right after Pesach because I didn't take the leaven out. I thought what was the point if the leaven symbolizes sin why would I bring it back in again. I was confused about it. Adonai was pointing to my heart the whole time. So I went on a bacon eating crazy train and somehow I still doubted I was doing the right thing. I kept praying to God that he would make me a woman after his own heart. Then I read the Torah again in Leviticus and it was written, Don't make yourself detestable with an unclean animal. So I thought oh no what have I done?! I felt terrible. Then the other day as I'm keeping kosher eating anyway I hear this man say it's all about being grafted in that even the Jewish person has to choose to be grafted in just like the gentiles, so still processing that and then this podcast, I'm like ok Lord what do you want me to do? I'm not confused anymore thanks to you all but just trying to press into the Ruach to see what will please the Lord and what won't. I have thought I was a Redeemed Jew or completed Jew but now I see all this time I have been making it about, The doing. I know in the Bible it is written, The Love of God is this that we keep his commandments and his commandments aren't burdensome. That's Torah. The Whole thing from The B'rit Hadashah to Revelation is Torah. The New Covenant expounds on the Old. So I'm going to be praying alot. I think one of the main reasons I liked Bacon is the fat because we shouldn't eat the fat of the animals that had been sacrificed. That's hard. Please pray for me. Shalom Aliechem.

Sarah, The fat that the Torah prohibits to eat is called chelev, whereas the fat from let's say rib-eye steak is called shuman. The latter we're allowed to eat. Personally I don't eat pork, regardless of how delicious it is, because it's prohibited by Torah. The essence of Torah is having a circumcised heart, only then we're able to serve Hashem wholeheartedly (pun intended).

Shavuot and Pentecost - we first received the law, then we received the Holy Spirit at the same time! After our Lord ascended to be with God. There's no conincidence. We need both as the Holy Spirit gives us the power to be obedient. Yeshua Hamashiac followed the law and commanded us to keep His commandments. As His followers shouldnt we do the same? Edit: I visited Israel with my Mum and Sister and had 2 weeks of kosher food. We were much healthier than we had been in a long time. Please don't give up on God's food laws. True don't go crazy with it but there is a reason not to eat natures trash collectors. Agree with previous commenter, follow Torah, not Talmud.

Very enlightening. As a Catholic point of view, we were taught that Jesus said be good to others and actions from the heart are more pkeasing to God his Father. Jesus was actually angry that the rabbis and the leaders of the Church have made more importance in rituals than be more helpful and sympathetic to the poor and people deemed unclean. I understand the spiritual aspect of this idea of being "kosher" and I fully agree with it. We need to separate ourselves from the things that are ungodly. But then our bodies need to be fed too. Now do we keep everything on a spiritual level and eat whatever we want? Why is this not applied to eating too? Shell fish and pork are NOT food, certain fish and animals are not approved by God who is the maker of the human body. You should say it clearly that God set also dietary rules for us all. In my opinion

Heard you mention speaking in context and employing us not to refer to 1 Tim. 4:4. Well, I think people always quote that verse out of context. We have to 1st remember who Timothy was, he was not a gentiles whom Paul would have to talk to about keeping Kosher. I do not think Paul was telling Timothy to eat unclean else, we may be implying our God is not a consistent God but a changing one...I believe clean remained clean and unclean remained unclean except for exceptional cases where you do not know what kind of food you are offered. So whatever, it was Paul was referring to as good to eat should 1st be classified as CLEAN which Timothy should already would have known... Everything is for the shadow of how we live our lives for Him...

There is no other flesh alive during the 1,000 years, Jesus kills them all so the fire that sends Satan to the fiery lake does not send them there as well. As an immortal you will be under the Re:21 set of laws rather than the 10 Commandments or the 613 morality laws so how would a blood sacrifice not send that person to the fiery lake rather than getting a sin forgiven by God? Re:21:5-8: And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. The 'turn the other cheek' is not making Christians into pacifists , it allowing Jesus to take revenge. 2Th:1:4-9: So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; Re:6:9-11: And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? I think God wants us to thinkk about what is just: the verse never says "cook a goat in goat's milk". It says "in its mother's milk". Big difference. The goats had a mother-baby relationship, and the milk was supposed to nurture, not help destroy, the baby. The act destroys love. I think the verse refers to this relationship, which should not be sullied.

In His great love for people, I believe that our Almighty Creator is merciful and patient with our sinful condition because He knows we need time to gradually evolve and purify. If we would know and be aware of how sinful we are, we wouldn't be coping and carry on functioning so in purpose He is allowing us the necessary time to heal and continue functioning for His Great Purpose of saving humankind. We are so entangled in our sins that only Jesus in His Love can detangle us. I pray for everyone watching this to be saved! 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤

Can you talk one day about Rabbi Kaduri? The Rabbi who Found Messiah?
@ONEFORISRAEL
@ONEFORISRAEL 4 жыл бұрын
Rabbi Kaduri is an interesting topic that most people miss the full story on. The unfortunate truth is that the statements Kaduri made approaching his death mostly rule out that he was actually speaking of Yeshua our Messiah. One significant part is his proclamation that "the spirit of messiah has possessed a man of Israel today!" he bursted out in the midst of his synagogue with this statement about a few months before his death. I remember getting the news on this and thinking that describes something very opposite of our Messiah... So this and the many other quotes form Kaduri takes quite a bit more explaining and background but we have had a few mention him, and although in our opinion of what we've witnessed from Kaduri isn't a confession in Yeshua we do believe it's possible that some of his students did come to faith.

With all due respect, and I'm not judging anyone, per Romans 14 - but am just saying that I personally believe Leviticus 11 is for our time, too. Here's why: it's about "clean" versus "unclean" - and not in a ritual but a literal manner. All the foods we can eat (and again, we could be strictly plant-eaters, too, if we wanted to) - are clean because they do not contain all the toxins other creatures contain. Take bats, for instance. Bat bodies are toxic for humans to eat; they do not meet the criteria for "clean" in Leviticus 11. I understand from reading that bats are considered a delicacy in Polynesia and it's because they are considered quite tasty - but people can and do still die from eating them. When I consider the pandemics in the past that began with "unclean" animals -- it's quite a list -- that seems to point to the specificity of Leviticus 11. Bats are, in fact, extremely vital as pollinators, though, so they play an important role. All the wildlife that is excluded from Leviticus 11 has a vital role in the ecology. We each stand or fall before our own Master. I've just expressed what I do and don't and why, that's all.

Thank you for sharing. Jesus Christ of Nazareth is real for I have seen him with my own two eyes during prayer outside one evening. He is in his transfigured state now. He is beautiful in a beautiful golden white light and full of love. He is about 14 feet tall. His forearms,hands and fingers are visible as well as his lower legs and feet. His fingers remained pointed towards the ground as he walked out of the woods. I could actually hear his footsteps as he walked out of the woods and through the brush. Clean and unclean animals are well understood from the beginning. Yahweh didn't have to tell Noah which is which. When the Father says some animals are unclean and are detestable there is no doubt that they are so why believers would eat such is beyond comprehension. Equally beyond comprehension is why the speakers here avoided talking about it.

Hearing about the cruelty of the pagan cultures that were around at that time, it really makes sense as to why God did not want to let other peoples live, in order to integrate them into the Hebrew culture. They really did not have good hearts! They really were corrupt inside. God is really good about saving people who have hearts that can be Christ-like. But if A good heart doesn't exist in a people, those people die, just like you want cancer to die in a healthy body. You don't want the corruption to go on, spreading and kill all of the good people. I really don't mind all of the killing in the Bible now. It's well worth it to preserve the good.

Acts does not contain salvific doctrine for the church age. It was written by the historian Luke to chronicle God's change over from the OT Prophetic program to The NT Church program. The Gospel for the church age is found in Paul's Epistles. 1 Cor 15:1-4. Jews and Gentiles are to be "one new man" in Messiah Jesus. Christians (Jews and Gentile believers in Jesus) do not keep the rituals and laws of Israel. God sees all men the same today. He is not currently working through Israel. He is working through the Church.

5:00 Perhaps the cooking instruction means milk would limit the temp to 100C (boiling water) when 150C is needed to kill all the bacteria. Noah was familiar with 'clean food' and Abel's offering would have been clean food as well. When the return happens people will be immortal so the food they eat is not to help them stay alive it would be because they like the taste. The only meal eaten during the 1,000 years would be the Passover meal and that would be based on Cain's offering being the one that is accepted. When OT only Jews are in the nations could they not eat Gentile food and just repent that as being a sin? Is is not true that ever food that is labeled as 'kosher' today also brings money straight to the Sate of Israel? Is food grown in 'the occupied territories' considered to be kosher when the rest of the world seem making money from occupied land is a war crime?

My first thoughts on this commandment not to eat meat in its mother's milk is a simple instruction stating that we must not eat meat that is suckling from its mother. The harm that this does to the mother and calf breaks a valuable bond that causes anxiety to the whole herd and if we protect this bonding method we do it in human life as well and thereby sanctify human life...Jew and Gentile...alike. Both Moses and Yahshua/Jesus Christ did for the Jews first and then the entire global population was teaching us how to bring alive a force-field from our scientifically structured emotions. It's a spiritual universe and to achieve its finest fruits we must be spiritual beings. We can manifest this force-field by expressing our emotions in a righteous way. This encourages us to make ourselves susceptible to receiving God's Living Waters, freely, from His invisible pool that surrounds us and which talks to our genetic health in an upbuilding, righteous way, giving us an indestructible spirit that responds well to invisible nervous laws, Yahshua's righteous laws, in a similar fashion as the calf, the mother, and the herd do.

1 Timothy 4:1-5 1 The Spirit expressly states that in the acharit-hayamim some people will apostatize from the faith by paying attention to deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come from the hypocrisy of liars whose own consciences have been burned, as if with a red-hot branding iron. 3 They forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods which God created to be eaten with thanksgiving by those who have come to trust and to know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing received with thanksgiving needs to be rejected, 5 because the word of God and prayer make it holy.

I firmly agree with your interpretation of the written law as recited to Moses. The law Jesus practiced is the laws given to man of both genders when "God them in his image" and place Adam in the Garden. That law was (without families) be fruitful and multiply, dominion (exceed the ability of) over the earth, eat (raw) from vegetation the earth over and to Adam "Dont Judge" the differences you encounter. That is the "kosher" man are to "repent" and began living now that we have desecrated our first laws. The death Jesus was referring to is his reply to Nicodemus (John 3:3-8) be "Born Again" which is what tadpoles do to become Frogs and is what Genesis 3:24 is saying. The "flame" purifies the mind of good and evil and the "sword" cut us away from all attachments and we are Born Again. See hubpages.com/@the0natureboy for more.

Hey everyone, Elohim bless His people. The heart is the more important matter, we serve the spirit of the law. If the inside is clean then the outside will be clean. Gods people will be made new, be given new hearts, and be given His spirit. This will give them the desire and ability to keep His commandments in love. I get where these 2 were getting at and agree for the most part. Unfortunately, they did not want to discuss actually keeping Gods food law, which could maybe cause some to believe we dont have to keep His dietary law. Its sad because Gods commandments are not burdensome. We should not be breaking Gods dietary law just because we think the heart is whats important. The actual commandment and the spirit of the commandment are both important, the heart or spirit of the law being more important ofcourse, but that dosent mean we leave the physical commandment undone. Its like 2 extremes.. those who leave the spirit of the law undone (rabbinic judaism) and then those who think they are keeping the spirit of the law yet break dietary law (traditional christianity) I dont get why we cant just be real and stop making this hard. Make sure your heart is clean and eat clean aswell. Keep Gods commandments in love and diligence.

There is no law where you pick and chose what you will and won't follow and then declare yourself lawful. In effect that's lawless! If the Christian is going to ignore Paul, ignore the writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews and return to custom and tradition in the name of God you ignore Paul's exhortations in Galatians.. Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (Gal. 5:1-4 NKJ) Hebrews chapters 6 and 10 gives you the VERY UNPLEASANT CONSEQUENCES! (not opinion, FACT! ... don't rob yourself of the prize that awaits you)\

Not dietarily? Huh? In Acts 21 Paul n 4 men were taking a nazarite vow of Torah and doing animal sacrifice and the offerings of a Torah nazarite vow, to prove he was obeying Torah. He also came for the Holy days again in Acts 18 and took A nazarite vow. Zachariah 14 says in the 1000 year reign that there will be animal sacrifice, so what disobedience in not keeping the dietary laws are you speaking of? Constantine changed the gospel in the 300’s by outlawing the holy days and animal sacrifice. It wasn’t in 70 AD that they ended, they were still doing them, or else no reason to. Outlaw them. He never ever ever wanted sacrifice even in the TaNaK. But because of people’s sins is why there had to be. We have to stop sinning. The law is to show us our sin. They are how to restore/Ahabah each other to their Shalom, perfectness, completeness, wholeness. Just because the are the weightier matters doesn’t mean we wash the non weightier matters down the drain. I’m not sure what you are saying by dietary laws? Are you speaking of Traditions or what YaH says?
