Great series on this tractor repair, enjoy the tear down and diagnosis as you and Tim get deeper into the trans and drive line mechanical issue. The JD family of techs are certainly watching I'll bet because as you stated earlier in the series the dealers don't do many of these 6200 tractors. Enjoy your vacation, will wait for more excellent video of this job !

Thanks for including us again in this winter mechanic video. Remind us of your trip and tell us when the last vid will be before you leave. We will miss you while you are gone unless you post vids while on your trip. :)

JD Country must watch YT too! Mngmt. must have been pissing pebbles when they saw how pissed you were and talked about cancelling your order and buying a MF. I hope you post a breakdown on labor and parts, then compare it to the JD estimate. Safe travels!

matt gordon they seem to be good .. i have not broken any and they are not out of size like some of the cheaper tools i have owned.. i like the craftsmen tool line but in a pinch the napa tools are great.

Nice to see, when you understand how and why it works you don't generally need books to diagnose problems, the only real time I find them useful is during reassembly for torque/angle settings and tolerances.

Now you know why they wanted $12,000 to fix it! That's quite a tear down.

Even though those $12k isn't just for the work, it's still too much for that POS.
@TheTomBevis10 жыл бұрын
$12K sounds reasonable. $4K for the repairs and $8K for the MBAs, like everything else these days. lol

what kind of spiders do you have up there? At 2:03 I see the spider noose blowing in the wind. Guess they forget the web and work to hang their victims.

I just kinda figured it wouldn't move, because it was in multiple gears.... Since shifter cables and such were disconnected.... What was the problem originally? Before deere made it worse by not putting it back together...?

should have a workshop manual so you know what you're doing BEFORE you start dismantling. what if the owner ends up with everything in bits and you never found fault.
@carrollsanders937610 жыл бұрын
Hire a mechanic, the transmission and rear as well as brakes can be diagnosed before disassembled, by turning the input shaft in high gear the axles should turn, if the axles do not turn then check for play in the planetary drives if the brakes are locking there will be no motion at all. Looks like rust accumulated problems or freeze up in the clutches! Your mistake was taking it apart to much before trouble shooting properly. This type damage can be prevented by changing engine oil. Just offering suggestions that might make it easier next time.

i see why the shop quoted $12000, $2000 in parts and $10000 in labor lol

Deere Country probably didnt want to find the problem. They wanted 12000 to throw a new transmission in it. Parts changers, not mechanics
