tractorboy31 actually i think its fun tinkering and working on stuff, the only pain i think with doing it for people is you have a time frame and having to put up with them bothering you at times, but i guess that is the cost of doing business. But I do understand though what your talking about as well, but with time, you probably can, you never stop learning and there is always something new to learn or do which is a pain but also fun in a way.

If you maintain them properly and use John Deere Hy-Gard oil they last very well, a lot less trouble than a 2640 or some other older utility tractor. We have several around here with 10-15K hours with no major work, just common stuff like pressure sensors, dampners, and that pesky electric rockshaft control, which is fine on a tractor kept inside, but usually the rubber cover cracks and no one replaces it and eventually rain water trashes it and its like 500 to replace.

That bearing is actually a piston there is a small bolt in the bottom of the transmisson with a copper gasket that holds it in. I have mine back together my clutch valve had a hole in it and the modulator valve had broken springs

Has it got a brake band round the outside of the drum? There will be a minimum thickness for the discs and steels. (hope the vacation went well.) They don't look burnt, maybe the wrong grade of oil is why the discs have delaminated. When you get the new discs check they are the right ones and soak them in the correct trans fluid before assembly or the will burn up. You probably know that anyway. LOL

there are so many shafts and gears in the dif, trying to turn by hand is imposible, had they put a 10 foot pipe on it, im sure it would have turned, they most likely did, but didn't show that part, in order that her ruled it out

Go watch his other videos on the 6200 John Deere. And it doesn't have a million hours, nor is it a high hour machine. Another thing that causes problems on Deeres that sleep outside all year is eventually water gets in the transmission somewhere and raises all kinds of ruckus on the internals. Not sure if that's what happened here though. As Wes said, this is built a little different than the older tractors I'm used to.

no schooling, or mechanics licence can give you better experience, then hand on, get in there pull it a part, see all how it works, if you don't find the problem were you first thing it mite be, you don't give up, you move on to the next part, its not a waste of time, or money, you get to inspect every part of the unit, and able to report back to customer, the complete conation over all. its all part of what's in valued in finding an un-know, most customs don't have a problem with the end bill, I know JD is well known here in Ont. Canada, for quoting supper high price when they don't know were it is ether, then if they find the problem, witch in the end was a 10 to 20 hour repair, they will not drop there price, this is why I work by only time and parts only. JD is the biggest scam in the whole industry
