The Horus Heresy is such a cool period in the history of Warhammer 40k. Its awesome to see GW proper delve into the era with the Betrayal at Calth box. Up until now if you wanted to play 30k Horus Heresy you had to go through Forge World which is quite expensive, but now 30k is more accessible than its ever been. With the rumor of Horus Heresy expansion boxes due out this year, we may be getting even more legions on plastic opening up the entire breadth of the Horus Heresy to all 40k players.

The emperor didn't design the fortifications of terra. Royal Dorn did, and built them with the Fists. I'm sure if one of the books it mentions that he burned with rage and embarrassment that the defences weren't enough. Not to mention some of the loyalist marines that were associated with the traitors were imprisoned as well
@OneMindSyndicate9 жыл бұрын
+Ricki Cowin No he reinforced a lot of Terra but the emperor built a lot of it. Remember the emperor was first to leave Terra to embark on the Great Crusade. He wasn't going to leave it defenseless. Think about when terra was at war with mars during the Age of Strife, Terra had to be protected

@OneMindSyndicate This is a bit old, but in case you never figured out how to handle your white paint......(Never got all the terminology down, and it tends to change from person to person, but, I'm assuming by "wash", you mean you [1] prime the model, then add a wash of something over that, maybe watered down, then begin applying the actual color(s) you're going for, or [2] applying a wash of ink or watered down paint on the model at the end of the painting process to make the colors stand out???)......what I would do is [1] instead of applying white straight on, go with a grey at first. After applying the grey, then dry brush your white over that. Dry brushing, if you're not used to it, it can take a little practice to get the hang of, but once you do, it can give some very nice results, and it may surprise you. If a straight grey color does not work fr you, remember there are many shades of grey, be it darker, brighter, or mixed with some other color for a slightly different effect (grey/blues are a fave of mine). The general idea is that you use a tone of grey that compliments the white, then dry brush the white over that, and together these colors defeat the black paint underneath, while giving a lighting/shading effect or such on the model. [2] if you're putting black ink onto a model painted white, stop doing that, and start looking for, or making, different colors of ink that would work better with the color white (brown ink may surprise you with the results, if done right). [3] Throwing this extra one in just for kicks. In my search for "fine detail/fine tip paint markers", and videos that talk about using these and other markers on models, I'm convinced that this is a great way to add to models and painting. Maybe it's not "painting" per se, but markers, especially fine tip markers, can grant you much more control over detailing. If you're using inks, these could, maybe, help with that problem (while also giving you more ideas on how they could be applied).

@onemindsyndicate A little late, but for the wash. Washing over white can give you some fun options. Im not sure your full scheme. If your using citadel paints then watering down the washes could be helpful. You might need to dry brush over it with white a couple of times to make it pop. Another option is to use alternative colors. Also alternative inks. I like Bombay inks for washes myself. Daniel smith walnut ink is also really nice to create aged and natural tones/effects. Sepia bombay ink might make a nice shade for white. Colors to use for shading white can be medium to light blue wash, dark muted purple. I think a light blue can create a nice "clean" and cool appearance. Anyways hope some of this helps

Preshading with a white or grey primer on top of a black primer can help a ton with color blending once you begin putting on the base and layer paints. Its a neat little trick that can really enhance your work.
@doomed20638 жыл бұрын
I often prime in black or grey and then preshade with either a grey primer (on black) or a white primer (on grey). It makes shading so much easier.

Hey! I'm watching your content pretty much every night when I get off of work and really enjoy the fact you have so much friggin content lol I also understand that you acknowledged that alot of the names and pronunciations are really odd b/c of the Latin influence which I respect but it honestly does bother me a little bit, on the bright side I can deal with it and I don't see anyone else compiling as much info that is as engaging as your content so you have my full support. As for your painting issue with the white emblem and wash your using... idk if it will solve your problem or if you have already handled it but apply the wash and go back over repainting the white(emblem) with a paint mixture of 1/4 wash and 3/4 white and see if that does the trick. To solve that issue i'd have to see exactly what you are trying to do for myself. I want to strongly emphasize again that what you are doing is great and really support/enjoy what your doing. I've seen some lame comments made by some people and want to point out that none of them are doing anything like for example making videos, encouraging the hobby and building a solid youtube following about 40k so by all means continue b/c we enjoy.

@skepsisrollins17119 жыл бұрын
+Justin Blodgett yea the way some of these dudes pronounce shit is maddening
@Bluemilk928 жыл бұрын
+Justin Blodgett Pronunciation is not concrete, but there is often a hard G in the word legio. Remember, Latin is a dead language so there is no objectively correct pronunciation. Though I doubt he does it on purpose, it's not entirely inappropriate for him to say it the way he does. *In this one case.*
@justinblodgett88468 жыл бұрын
Latin is not a "dead" language, it is still used and spoken unbroken for thousands of years in the Vatican. No real nation still uses it, however, the Vatican's Language has not changed since Roman Times. And through studying Latin, I can assure you, their use it NOT correct in any instance. Babylonian and Sumerian are dead languages. No one knows how to speak their tongue, as their civilizations have been dust for thousands of years with no one to carry their torch.
@Bluemilk928 жыл бұрын
+Justin Blodgett Well, if you have studied Latin then I would defer to your judgment. Though as a fan of historical content and ancient Rome in particular, I have often heard it pronounced with hard G. Then again, historical accuracy is often controversial even among the learned. So as someone who has studied Latin, could you answer a question of mine that I have always been confused about? How is it you pronounce a word like Triarii or Boii? Is it Tree-are-ee-eye or Tree-are-ee-ee? Or another way to phrase it is are the last two syllables pronounced differently or the same?
@justinblodgett88468 жыл бұрын
Triarii can be used both ways, depending on the context, whilst Boii is pronoiced Boy-ee.
