12 key principles of interpreting a passage of scripture: 1. Literal meaning: Start with the plain or normal meaning of a passage. 2. Authorial intent: Understand what the author intended to convey. 3. Lexical principle: Explore the meaning of individual words, often requiring knowledge of the original languages (Greek or Hebrew). 4. Grammatical structure: Analyze the sentence structure, identifying subjects, verbs, objects, etc. 5. Historical background: Consider the historical context, time, place, and recipients of the scripture. 6. Geographical location: Understand where events took place and where the recipients were. 7. Cultural context: Delve into the cultural mindset of the time, including politics, customs, and practices. 8. Literary genre: Recognize different genres (narrative, poetry, prophecy, etc.) and their unique characteristics. 9. Figures of speech: Identify and interpret the various figures of speech used in scripture. 10. Principle of progressive revelation: Acknowledge that certain doctrines become clearer as you progress through the Bible. 11. Synthetic unity of the Bible: Understand that the entire Bible harmonizes and can help clarify unclear passages. 12. Prophetic fulfillment: Recognize that some passages have both near and far fulfillments, often related to the coming of the Messiah.

Thank you, Dr. Lawson. God has arranged for me to teach a small group bible study at my church. I desire to be much, much sharper in rightly dividing the word of truth. It's crucial because it's God's word being fed to God's people, His children. Certainly not something I want to mess up! One of my favorite verses is "Knowledge puffs up but love builds up. (1 Corinthians 8:1)." The motivation must be love for Christ and a love for the brethren that comes from it. We love because He first loved us. Otherwise it's just arrogant showing off. God especially hates religious pride. Thank you, once again, for this excellent list. You have definitely given me food for thought --- and action.

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. --- If you abide in Jesus, and he abides in you, you will be his disciple. A disciple is one who is taught and learns. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. ---- The only rule for interpretation, is to abide in Jesus Christ. No confusing man made list, just a walking in obedience.

Basically like reading something, like an ordinary book or news. Knowing the grammar as we are used to. In context of when it happened. Of course, the main added component is that is has to do with God. He and His Word are inspired/God-breathed by Him. Perfect. And His relation & revelation to man.

"God arranges all things by his sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death and are to glorify him by their destruction. ( John Calvin Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 23, Paragraph 6) Calvinist parents teaching their children Little Johnny, God has predestined the minority of people to be saved and go to heaven forever, and He has predestined the majority of people to be eternally damned and burn in the fires of hell. We have no idea, little Johnny, if God has predestined you to be forever damned or forever saved. We love you, little Johnny, but we accept the fact that God might not love you, and that He may have plans to send you to hell for your future sins. If you do find yourself one day burning in hell because He hasn’t elected to save you, just remember that we will always love you, even if God hates you. Take comfort knowing that we are not like God. We will be in heaven forever only because we were unconditionally chosen for salvation before we were born. That would be the only reason that we won’t be in hell with you if you find yourself there. It won’t be because of anything we did. So also take comfort in knowing that. It may not seem fair, but who are we to judge God? So again, if you find yourself in hell, remember that we will always love you as we forever worship the God who loved us but who hated you, the God who sent His Son to die for us but not for you. Please, we ask, don’t let it bother you-if you find yourself in hell-that we love the God who hated you and showed you no mercy. We must accept the fact that God is sovereign, and He does what He pleases.

Mr. Lawson, please answer me this. If God said it himself he will preserve his word. And he did say that right? Then the Bible itself alone is sufficient to communicate his message to the reader. Not digging around in man’s documentation of “history”, not researching all these other books that men have written. The Bible, alone. Respond, I am waiting.

I would think that your interpretation cannot contradict all the more "obviously clearly understood" passages. It has to fit within all the other constraints caused by the entire volume of texts. Eg. Cops require that you write volumes in testimonies because the more you write, the more likely there are contradictions.

Did Jesus ever say and teach the apostles and disciples how to interpret the Scripture? Where can I find in the Bible that Jesus did that? Wasn't that, before Jesus went back to heaven, he gave instructions to his apostles to WAIT for the Holy Spirit to COME upon them? And after the Holy Spirit gave them the gifts, they reached out and preached, healed and had done signs and wonders?!!! So, how is it then you say and claim to teach HOW to INTERPRET the Bible???!

Holy Spirit interprets scripture...... not me. For scripture interprets me! Yes I study deeply and just as Charles Spurgeon said: I dig into scripture as a miner digging for gold! I simply do as scripture says I must do: Study to show thyself approved of God, a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 - Rightly Dividing" ( Greek Word Orthotomēo- meaning to disect perfectly the word of truth to line oneself up perfectly in that truth. ) The perfection only coming by Holy Spirit interpretation. Having an ever deepening relationship in Christ as taught by Christ Himself in John 15:1-8 allows me to receive from Holy Spirit the truth of scripture and the relationship with the Word - Christ gives me the wisdom to the glorifying use of that truth as to God the Father! Then Jesus Himself prayed this in the garden before the cross appointment: " This is eternal life, that they may know You the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. " John 17:3....." Know " here is the Greek word " Ginosko" meaning to gain knowledge in an ever deepening relationship with Christ and the Father confirmed in scriptural knowledge gained by study. Scripture will always confirm what is experienced in the relationship in Christ. Always Both/And in Relationship and scripture truth. Never either/ or.

The biggest mistake theologians approach is to try to comprehend scripture through human thinking, rather than spiritual approach. The main reason for Christians to be born again in Spirit, is to be alive again in Spirit, to be able to hear guidance of Holy Spirit. it's time to worship God in Spirit and Truth. Holy Spirit will guide us to read carefully, read the whole story, pay attention to a specific words. be objective don't making our own fantasy, and could link various verses in different books into one stream of understanding, and also identify false understanding of the apostles, because the goal is to find and learn God's truth, in contrast Theologians goal is simply to make sense everything in the bible. secondly, there are domains in our bible, 3 gospels, offering different solution for salvation, theologians oversight this. two from God and one from the devil. Mixing two gospels from God, though both are valid way, will gives false understanding (old and new wine), mixing the devil's gospel (tare) will surely lead to eternal condemnation instead of salvation. Jesus teaches The Law to those who ask The Law, and selectively teaching the good news of KOG to receptive persons only. Two different solutions for the rich young man and Zacheus. thirdly, theologians don't aware that half of their thinking, their foundation of believe are the product of brainwashing from their predecessors , left this uncheck, lead to lack of discernment between truth and false truth. for example those who believe in Sola Scriptura will have difficulty to answer this: "The root of aALL evil is the love of money". true or false ? fourthly: never self verify their own believe to Jesus own words, all apostles writing could contradict or overwrite Jesus own words. cause Thrologians do not put Jesus words as the cornerstone of their believe. They don't know what the true meaning of cornerstone is. For example, apostle John commenting The Living Water is Holy Spirit, but Jesus did not owned Holy Spirit, he need to ask Father, Jesus did not give the Samaritan woman Holy Spirit, he gave His good seed, the gospel of Kingdom of God, and Those apostles never ask Holy Spirit and they got it. fifth: Jesus speaks about Spirit world by using wordly objects that have similar functionality, because there is no human's wording to describe it. It is not a figurative speech. Jesus refer Temple to His body, because functionality of temple is the place where God's spirit dwell in. Because Spirit of God dwell inside His body, "Let the dead bury the dead" means, let the spiritually dead person burry the physically death person. sixth: don't have a holistic view of the gospel, in which all understanding of Jesus gospel should be coherent and form unity completely, no verses against verses. Theologians understanding always fragmented, because they embrace stranger's teaching instead of filter out fslse gospel from the genuine gospel, true lambs recognising the voice of their Shepherd. In return Theologians and their flocks of followers never experience spiritual growth, never bear fruits. seventh: what if no details given in scripture ?. Theologians delightly fermenting scriptures, expanding the meaning with wild assumptions. when Jesus said "If you obey My words" interpreted as the instruction to obey the whole bible, instead of the teaching of the good news of the Kingdom of God delivered by Himself in flesh, widening the scope making "the light yoke and easy burden" to a challenging and heavy study material. Gen 1:1 because nobody else mentioned, it's interpreted as God is alone talking to "themselves", well following the story, suddenly God sent angels to guard the Eden without mentioning creating them, Theologians missinterpret Gen 1 as the beginning of the beginning instead of the beginning of the creation of the earth of Adam.

All of the words and prophecies in your book of fairy tales (bible) mean exactly what you want them to mean and if they mean something different to another person then that alternative meaning is just as legitimate as yours. The biblical phrases and predictions are so ambiguous and vague that you can turn to any part of this fanciful book of scribblings and claim that it refers to any modern event or political scenario. The so called and mostly self appointed experts at deciphering this gobbledegook become so tied up with their interpretations that they refuse to believe that the nonsense they are reading could mean anything else other than what they think, most of the things written don`t mean anything, they are just the musings of demented authors. But the experts will always find hidden meanings in the largely imaginary and contradictory stories. Anybody who bases their knowledge of history on the bible does themselves an injustice, E.G. there are no records of the world being flooded in Asia, Europe or anywhere else except the Middle East, all the nonsensical stories in the bible are confined to the Middle East and the Christian God cult.
