Modesty means you follow the commands of Allah - Seek knowledge of your Deen and Dunya, be patient and resolute and certainley canceal your adornment except what is naturally apearrant, as for the weak is you becoming an object in the hands of the evil mankind, and the slave of your desires.

I fully agree that "The best way to know about a author is to read their book". In addition to which, I would recommend that you also read both Sahih hadith collections (al-Bukhari and Muslim), which are the most authenticated biographies of Muhammad, and the interpretations of a globally renowned exegete such as Ibn Kathir. However, the most important piece of advice I can impart is that you read them, objectively, for yourself and do not be influenced by Muslim apologists or Dawah practitioners who are simply attempting to proselytize you to convert to Islam. They will often impart an interpretation of Islamic doctrine which is absolutely implausible when compared to the original Quranic text or to the words and deeds of Muhammad. Remember, in Surah 15:1 of the Quran, Allah states that:......."These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) CLEAR"..... The definition of the word "CLEAR" is:...."easy to perceive, understand or interpret. Unambiguous".... Consequently, if anyone tells you that the text of the Quran doesn't really mean what it says and that they need to interpret it for you, they are clearly implying that Allah was incapable of achieving his objective of making the Quran "CLEAR" (easy to perceive, understand or interpret. Unambiguous) and that they are better qualified to do so. By definition, such a claim is not only profoundly blasphemous, it questions the very omnipotence of God. Furthermore, you should also bear in mind that every Muslim believes that the Quran is the direct, literal, unquestionable, unalterable and eternal word of Allah and that Muhammad is the most perfect ever human being and role model and whose example is good for ALL TIMES AND IN ALL PLACES. The greatest fear of Muslim apologists and Dawah practitioners is not that you will misinterpret or misunderstand the Quran or the.actions and words of Muhammad, but that you will fully understand them and that, if you are a non-Muslim you will not convert to Islam, or if, as was the case with myself, you are a Muslim, you will, most likely, renounce the Islamic faith. And one final word of caution:.....if you do allow yourself to be indoctrinated by disingenuous Muslim apologists or Dawah practitioners, you should be aware that, should you later decide to renounce that faith, the prescribed Islamic punishment is death.

I'm an atheist, have always been but I've been interested in Islam for awhile now. The first country I've visited was Tunisia, I also lived in Senegal in a Muslim family for 6 months. I ordered The Clear Quran a few days ago and am watching this video today. As a 31 year old woman from Italian/catholic background in a very atheist society (the province of Québec, Canada) with a bachelor's degree in Earth sciences, it's challenging to reconcile my spiritual quest with my background, beliefs and values. I believe in science, I believe in women's rights, I believe in LGBTQ+ rights. I stand for social and environmental justice but also take interest in Islam. Is it possible to reconcile all this ?

Sister I suddenly came across with your comment and want to say as a friend that learn more about Islam. After that, you will come to understand Islam is not just a religion, it is not just include some instructions or smth like that. You will certainly realise that Islam is the only Truth (with the evidences of science and spirit). Let's go into your comment in detail=> of course, you can reconcile your beliefs towards women rights and science in Islam!) Because women are valued, cherished, appreciated by us in order to please the Creator bcs it is what He wants) We consider Paradise is literally under the feet of our mothers... Similarly, Science was born with the will of God. Allah wants us to be a seeker of knowledge. But when it comes to LGBT, I firmly believe that you have been impacted by the current society (it is what the society wants you to be........you know what I mean) I am a Muslim woman and I am treating and advising you like a friend, learn, search for yourself...seek the truth for eternity I hope you will not be blinded by social propaganda like other were done... Best wishes my sis ♡ )

Islam is not against science. It’s actually for it. So you can keep your love for science and believe in Islam. There’s a verse which insinuates the Big Bang in the Quran (: As for LGBTQ rights, we believe it’s a sin for straight people, whether married or unmarried or gay people, to show public affection. Gay people cannot marry, so they cannot act on their desires. God tests us all in different ways. There are many LGBTQ Muslims who give that up for God, knowing that it’s for the best and that in life, we are always going to be tested with all sorts of sins. Islam means submission to God entirely. That means there will be many things we must let go of to do that. That's how we prove to God we are sincere. We all sin, and sins don't take us out of Islam. We try our best to do good, and if we fall into sin then we repent. In Islam, we are told to stand up for what is right. If we see oppression, we must speak against it. Taking care of the environment is also encouraged. As long as it doesn't go against God's law. Such as speaking for LGBTQ is against what Allah said. Regardless, in Islam, we are kind to all, but we stay firm in our beliefs. I hope you find your way back to Allah 💕

How many KZbin videos do you watch daily of non Muslims without any hijab and you have no issue, but when it comes to Muslims, you are quick to criticize. Secondly, how many women do you look at on KZbin and in real life. If you focus 20% of the energy in taking YOURSELF to account that you go around criticizing others, it would be better for you.

What a powerful podcast. So many reminders. It made me tear up several times. 😢💗 And then at the end when she said ask Allah "Are you happy with me?" I was eagerly waiting for her answer when they asked "So can women have it all?" She completely deflected it back to the "all" of the Aakhirah. That is wisdom. And that is our purpose. To not burden ourselves to do it all here for the dunya, but ultimately do all we can for Allah's sake. May Allah SWT reward her abundantly for her naseeha, make it heavy on her scales yaa rabb and be pleased with her. Ameen

Asalaamu alaikum.. I really appreciate this talk from Dr. Younis. Alot of the things she discussed are upon the way that Islam was taught to me and she presents a lot of good viewpoints regarding the Muslimah in her home, society, and the workplace. May Allah bless her for reminding us mothers about our role in society as an employee, a wife, and a mother. Sometimes, life gets really hectic and places so many demands on us, that the lines get blurred seemingly enough, together. I need to watch this again to be able to fully process her speech. Alhamdulillah

I am a 15 year old girl in pakistan. I have not been religious my entire life until about a year ago but I was not entirely liberal and I stayed away from bad things (the moral compass inside me was alive). I wear an abaya and a hijab and I try my best (may Allah forgive me in my lacking) to please Allah but I face the following issue: I have always been a very jolly and sociable person plus I study at a co-ed school and I am good freinds with my male class mates too. However, I have heard that a woman should not be talking to non mahrams unnecesarily and cant even laugh with her mouth open, and I have tried really hard to avoid it but I just can't that is my personality. I have prayed to Allah for it too, but I cant act shy and you knw what i mean. Although I always stay concious that when I laugh I cover my mouth with my hand. I am also trying really hard to not play basketball in my P.E unit. Our class is like a family and we all play together (girls snatch the ball from girls and boys do boys) but unintentionally there have been instances where we bumo into eachother. I know I would be sinned for doing this and I am doing my best to be commited to not play when there is more chance of bumping into eachother (the present student strength is more) but I got carried away and played again today. I had no intention to do so but again mine and some other guys hands touch (may Allah forgive me) while trying to catch the basketball. What do I do? will Allah forgive me ? although I know he will but I need some assurance, and what do i do about the other problem? Please guide me. I look up to dr haifaa younis and she is my biggest inspirationof how a woman should act and I aspire to be like her. Will my personality stop me from becoming like her?

You’re still young and if you only recently tried coming back to the religion, don’t be too harsh on yourself. Give yourself time to learn. One does not become a hafidh, imam and mufti in 1 day. :)

Jazak-Allah Khairun for this podcast! Every topic was like learning a new way to think. I personally loved‏ it when Dr. Haifaa adviced ‏to ask Allah "Are you happy with me?". That touched really deep. And the moral of the story comes, that when we aim for the Akhirah, anyone, can have it all!

Very grateful to Allāh for gifting us with Dr. Sheikha Haifaa Younis. She is such a blessing and example to us modern-day women. I wish I had a friend like her- she does not sugarcoat anything EVER when it comes to encouraging others in the deen. There’s no excuses with her. And nothing but genuine spirit in her and what she says. Ma shaa Allāh tabarak Allāh. I can’t wait to raise my daughter looking up to the Sheikha and other women who put Allāh first just like her in shaa Allāh ❤️
