Here is my summary of the downfall of the camp (from keeping my tent up until the end with this group). University student holidays started and "Socialist Alternative" (SAlt) wanted to disband and come back next semester because they no longer had many students to recruit, they tried to get a deal with the uni but it was a bad deal. They said they wouldn't try and disband if the deal was bad so they refused to accept it, but then SAlt tried to disband the camp anyways. Some people left but most stayed. About a few weeks later, the university "threatened" us with the threat of a threat, nothing new, just an official statement that IF we are asked to move we must. this was sensationalised (internal sabotage?) online within the activists various social medias and most people, unfortuneatley fell for it and, came and packed up their tents immediately. Except these muslim students and a couple of other tents (like mine). We managed to call their bluff but.. The camp was essentially defeated, we destroyed ourselves without a deal but a few of us stayed. We were clearly too small to continue the camp so SUMSA tried to get a deal before leaving and actually managed to get a much better deal than what was offered to the activists earlier. Basically we either had to accept this or accept nothing. But they turned our defeat into a win, making the protest not a waste of time. You can view SUMSASYDNEY on instagram to see more details. The other things they don't mention is that they helped connect the camp to communities that would bring us lots of great food and supplies. Also many go home at night but these boys would always stay the night to make sure it was always populated...much better than me hahah. They were also some of the sweetest people there.

Tldr: we tried to get a deal it sucked. the university dropped leaflets on the camp so all the whites evacuated but the arab students stayed and managed to negotiate a better deal before being forced to leave. (Uni really wanted to get rid of them before the next semester started). Now the uni has cracked down on campus activism.

I'm a Jewish student at USYD and I just want to say that it was really interesting watching this video. While I definitely have a lot of disagreements, it was important to me to listen to the other side. I was surprised to find that I related to a lot of the experiences mentioned here, not knowing if my family was ok in the region, feeling intimidated on campus etc. Obviously we're on the different sides of things, but this was really insightful and I hope that one day we can all feel safe to be on campus. But also our encampment is organized by non muslims and there is a lot of haram things that happen aside from protesting etc so it wasn’t and isnt a very halal environment but I try to attend it and stay away from free mixing & music etc?
