Yeah mostly I notice google search is efficient at sharing it's data with youtube. It's sometimes funny how you think it reads your mind but alot of times you give data away without thinking much of it, I guess that's what happened in your case, or there were data sharing between more parties other than google

At release I:R wasn't a pretty sight. But after a few patches and especially 2.0 the game has started to flourish, and thank the gods for the dedicated modders that continue to improve the game 👍

Coming from Eu4, the most interesting and the most worrying aspect is the individual characters. I love playing EU4 as a map painter, and am worried that dealing with characters will feel a bit more micro than intended.

What I gathered from the video is that you just keep an eye on them from the tab. Balancing age, disloyalty and threat, you can easily manage it. Probably less of an issue with tribes or monarchies.

​@@Jman16007 Less of an issue with monarchies (just buy up all the holdings in capital region + ones in large cities); for tribes, it can be messy since levies are spread across head of families, and disloyal ones will just do their own thing (a net negative, but it can turn helpful at times). For Republics, it will be a constant concern, yes; former heads of states (archons, consuls, suffetes) tend to be very disloyal and ambitious after their term is over. And civil war is the worse thing to deal with in this game (the larger the empire, the bigger the headache), but there are ways to prevent it from triggering. But in the end, it's still a lot less micro than CK for instance, and you don't actually have to helicopter all heads of families at all times.

I was honestly surprised how easy, to me, picking up this game was, or at least playing republics/kingdoms. Granted it was easy mode and I don't really understand all the deeper mechanics, but I managed to do decently at both Rome (well that is basically super easy mode) and bosporan kingdom. meanwhile I was flailing around in EU4.... Im glad 2.0 breathed life in this game! I don't think I would have looked at it otherwise.

The thing I love about Paradox is they are smart and LISTEN to the fans. They seem to always find a way to please the crowd, please the plebs if you will, AND still remain true to THEIR BRAND of game. Out of curiosity: what exactly would you change in the current commerce/trade system? I've recently started to play IR after patch 2.0 and I'm very satisfied so far. Your videos are in the right time and helping a lot! For me, as the rookie, the trade system looks quite good. Especially when coming from a game like CK III, where these things are not implemented at all.

Good question! There are two answers that go together: A) If you see a family with great personalities and skill, it is good to treat them well and give them offices, because it will make them much more eligible to win elections (statesmanship decides who gets elected, essentially, and having held jobs will have trained the statesmanship). Obviously you will want that! Is there just going to be one amazing family? More than likely not. However, it can certainly happen if their kids are well-tutored. B) Roleplay! Is your current nation leader the head of a family? Is he a member of a specific party? Oligarchs for example, roleplay wise, would always do well to hand out holdings to other oligarchics, especially of their own family. Oftentimes the legislative Agenda of oligarchs will actually be related to handing out holdings! A) can happen and you should consider it - especially if you want to transition into a Dictatorship/Monarchy because the better your royal family the better your nation. However, B) will happen much more commonly and that's when you should decide who YOU like and dislike and who your character likes and dislikes. There is a lot of narrative freedom in this. As Macedon I once had someone plot against my heir and I found out. I ripped the entire family out of my nation. I didn't have to do it, but it just felt like the King Kassandros would react like it. Hope that helped!

The best advice I have for someone playing this game is instead of conquest try to make city states into tributaries as they provide trade and income rather than own a city with foreign culture

Just started as Sarmatia, went full centralization and democratic republic, then got absolutely spanked by mega Thrace and its vassals who had eaten the Bosphoran Kingdom. Used rivers and terrain advantages to take down about 40k of their troops, but I only had 16k manpower and they had 80k at the start of the war, and my mercs dipped when I ran out of cash. CK3 is just not as deep as I need, and the culture integration style in CK3 would be excellent, especially with more melting pot cultures (Northern Lords mebbe adding more there??) This is massively helpful, though; thanks, OPB!

As I understatnd, it means your nobles/citizens aren't used to they full potential. Due to campaigning, having low happines or beeing unintegrated into your culture.

@@Jhon47807 By building courthouses to change desired ratio in this city and waiting. Edicts only speed up promotion afaik. As for that warning popup, you might be right. As egypt I got it when majority of my hellenic citizens got levied and when later on they become unhappy doue to high war exhaustion and low stability. But as tribal nation it has been permament. But if it was due to suboptimal proportions of pops or low citizen happines and reaserch efficiency as migratory tribe, is hard to tell.

I got it on sale last week for 80% off. Got all the dlcs too. The time period is my favorite in all history. So I started with 2.0. After playing the tutorial (not helpful at all) and an hour of the game, I was still lost and not having fun. I've got over 1000 hours into ck2 so I was expecting some learning curve but this game just isn't fun. It's mechanics are vague and convoluted and the game itself is complicated but not in a good depth of gameplay way. Map options suck and you can't even see a rival nations military strength. After an hour with this game I was frustrated and very disappointed. This game is not accessible to new players that missed the initial release and the game does a poor job of making how it works understandable. No other paradox title left me feeling that way so early in. I refunded it today and it kills me. I wanted to love this game. Hopefully we get a real rome game someday.
