Heidiinphilly the high notes are sung in falsetto, most trained singers can sing high in falsetto. His chest range is pretty good too, but not that extraordinary.

Pamela Lindsey I never said he couldn’t. This is a really great performance, my point was just that falsetto singing is not a good metric for vocal range, because even singers with limited range can do it.

I was at this show and somehow only saw this video now. The feeling of being of that show was surreal. Was there on vacation from Canada and being surrounded by palm trees, as the sun was going down during one republics set was a surreal feeling.

What it's interesting about live performances of this song is that he seems to sing the chorus with mixed voice while in the studio version he sings it with falsetto.

I do like the studio version, but I love live better. Until today, I thought the professional Red Rocks version was best, but I absolutely LOVE this version - I love the cello which was lost in Red Rocks because of the orchestra violins. This version is absolutely awesome! It’s an amazingly haunting song. Ryan Tedder has an amazing voice. I love OneRepublic. My favorite band for a long time now. Had the opportunity to see them in Canada this past summer. Third row center stage floor. I was in heaven! 💞💝💗💘
