Definitely flexing. He’s done this sort of thing on American Idol where he does a duo with a contestant. When he sung Apologize with Casandra Coleman, the contestant, at the very end he flexed his voiced and stole the moment from the contestant which was wrong of him.

I think Ryan is saying that each singer artist needs to find their own unique quality of style of singing a song..... And use that in a song that belongs to someone else and not try and exactly copy in voice singing what the actual actual singer that owns the song -they way he sings the song..... Show they have their own style because that's what creates a new artists door into the field of music.... They are all doing s little bit of snubbing of each other and they shouldn't be doing that, they should all be totally professional....I think they just needed to go and exercise that fact they are cause of just concentrating on the facts of liking for the next professional artists and not try and pick them on the facts of whom they might be behind the artists talents because anyone can change their life for the better to make themselves worthy in the publics eyes of having the job they have in society to lead people.

Ben is right ~ the whole point of ths episode was that OneRepublic was looking for people to bring them new songs which the band might record and Ryan Tedder was just showing that this was suitable for his voice... that is what the song would sound like if he were to sing it/record it. It wasn't meant as an insult to the contestant or as a show off moment. It was actually showing that he was impressed by the song and how well that bridge fit his voice. It is a good thing that he is singing it. That means it's a great song to have brought to this episode and this particular competition.

I just didn't like the other guy giving you a dirty look.. Instead of doing that he should've supported the singer also.. if you want to get others to sing too you can help them because maybe someday you won't be able to sing and then who will carry on the trade career of songwriter or artist..
