I remember first hearing of OneShot through a youtube ad. I gotta say “On Little Cat Feet” is quite the piece. I was intrigued. It would take a while for me to actually play it, but I did. This game is what pushed me to make a steam account. The game itself? It really feels like a journey. Not necessarily in the grandiose sense, but because you’re doing it with a friend. Very well put on how there’s no replacement for just… spending time with a character. And of course, great soundtrack. It excellently conveys the different ideas of this story. It’s bittersweet at times. Even with the comforting tracks, there’s a sense that solace is a temporary thing and what’s out there will eventually take it away. Until then, all we can do is enjoy it. Other than the aforementioned “On Little Cat Feet”, I also really appreciate “My Burden is Light”. As the first, and perhaps even last piece you’ll hear, it’s powerful, man.

Really incredibly well-crafted video, and I can agree that this game is really heart-wrenching, and the ending has two of the most unforgettable options that have been stained in the back of my head. If you want another RPG Maker game, I'd heavily suggest OFF, where you control a mysterious entity called the Batter, and your goal is to help him purify the world. This game, to an extent, was inspired off of it (in the sense that you are a higher being controlling him). Regardless, you should try it out, since the music, ambience, characters, lore, it's all something to just behold.

I always found it really interesting playing as Niko's guardian and caretaker, instead of just playing as Niko. It's really interesting. I love that this game is getting more attention even so long after it’s “final” update I have loved this game for so long and it’s so nice to see someone new talking about it again. Niko really is someone you can easily fall in love with, and the world itself tells a story so sad and yet so hopeful in it’s final moments that it truly feels like you’re there with Niko throughout the entire thing. And that’s part of what makes it special and memorable: you get used to Niko being there, and when the game rips him away it hurts. I call Oneshot an Experience, not a game. It’s something that you have to go through, not ‘play’. I always will remember Niko. I will always will remember Oneshot. Thank you, creators, thank you so much for creating this masterpiece that I will always cherish.

I 100% agree with you on the track “Alula”. A lot of the music in the game is really special to me and is perfect for the world that you traverse through with Niko. Fantastic video overall, this is pretty much exactly how I’ve felt about the game ever since I played it.
@lpfan44912 жыл бұрын
I really liked the story of Oneshot. Two very destinct endings, either you give light and hope to the world or let Niko, the character you spent the journey with, live. It's a very simple but effective moral dilemma, simply because not everyone can win and it is always hard to say if ending a life is worth it for the happiness of everyone else, especially if you care about the person. And then the game did something weird. Not going to put spoilers of what, but...
@EEE-1409 Жыл бұрын
Imo the return home ending is the right choice. Because if Niko stays then his family will have to cope with his absence too. I think it's just a tad more important than the tamed AI.

This game will always hold a special place in my heart. The very fact this game made me, an outsider, interact with a child you get to learn about, really warmed me up. After getting to know them, I realized how much responsibility was forced into this kid. But he doesn’t fold, and he keeps on moving. The music fits the game perfectly. It’s a somber, lower toned theme that depicts the end of the world, but at some parts, there’s that hint of hope. The people of this world really reflect it. Even though the world may end, they stay standing with a smile, holding onto that hope. This entire game was a learning experience all on its own, and I definitely recommend it. It’s only $10 on Steam, and will also be coming to consoles soon.

OneShot is one of my favorite games of all time, because while the gameplay is admittedly not something I'm a huge fan of, the story kept me going. The second I saw Niko, and heard them speak, I knew I had to get them home. The fact that none of it is real, and that no matter how hard I wish I could know someone so just immediately fucking perfect who always makes the decision they feel is right, it'll never happen, nearly ruins me. I constantly replay this game, and cry every time without fail. Tomorrow at the time I'm writing this, the World Machine edition of the game will release on nintendo switch, and even though I've played this game a million times, I know I'll buy it and show the people behind the project that this game is a masterpiece, and that it doesn't need a couple of new character descriptions or music players to be bought twice.

The thing that makes Solstice work so well for us was partially the fact that we were stuck with only the 2 endings [technically 3 on the OG free version of the game] for a looong time. And then we got a huge somewhat of an ARG to find this update. ... still worth playing it tho!

This comment contains no spoilers. I really liked OneShot, though I got pretty frustrated a few times with the exploration, where there was often a room or other small path I had overlooked, which stopped me from progressing for maybe twenty minutes at a time or so. The other thing I'll say is that I sort of had a good guess where the story was going to end up with regard to the original ending, so when it came, I am afraid it just wasn't as impactful as it wanted to be, as I wanted it to be. That said, I played the Solstice content, and that ending actually hit me much harder, so I am very glad that I kept going.

PLEEEASE DO SOLSTICE. the main game is already fucking incredible but Solstice will tear your heart out and smash it to a pulp with a hammer. It's such a great addition to the game, both providing extra context for the world, more development for others, and it's just more OneShot which is awesome

INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY AND ITS FUTURE by Theodore J. Kaczynski Introduction 1. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries. 2. The industrial-technological system may survive or it may break down. If it survives, it MAY eventually achieve a low level of physical and psychological suffering, but only after passing through a long and very painful period of adjustment and only at the cost of permanently reducing human beings and many other living organisms to engineered products and mere cogs in the social machine. Furthermore, if the system survives, the consequences will be inevitable: There is no way of reforming or modifying the system so as to prevent it from depriving people of dignity and autonomy.
